As the reader reads and reviews my application, he or she will recognize something. That this applicant is not the smartest individual applying for this scholarship. However, I am an individual that does not let a number define my future or my accomplishments. I am someone who considers myself as an ambitious person who is always ready to learn new things and to meet new individuals. Being a student- athlete can be a factor that my GPA is low, however, I will not consider that as an excuse. I believe that when I started school at Graceland, I had no idea in what to study, just like a fourth of the freshmen class at this university that went through the same situation. Therefore, I did not want to fall into that category of being undeclared,
In distinction to many other applicants, I have substantial amounts of work ethic, motivation, and responsibility. My academic performance and extracurricular accomplishments are a
My scholarship can be seen through my grades at Wahconah. My grade point average has not dropped below a ninety-six in my freshman nor my sophomore year. I plan to keep this up heading into my junior year. With having these grades, I know that in the winter of my sophomore year, I was eleventh in my class. I know this because I had to send my transcript to a private school who was interested in me for lacrosse, and gained very much interest seeing my grades. I have kept my grades up while also maintaining a job at Kelly’s Package Store and playing lacrosse all year round. Therefore, my I excel academically at Wahconah and plan to do no different in the future.
I am self driven to become greatly successful, and I will have alumni support from my parents as well as support from my brother, who is currently enrolled in the class of 2020, to help insure I am an exemplary student. All that I have to offer will make me an asset to Clemson University, and I ask you to deeply reconsider your prior admissions
First, I believe I have great scholarship attributes because I have been able to maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher this whole year, while being in all honor classes and being in a 10th grade math class. During the first trimester, I was able to have straight A's and only one A- while the rest were A and one A+. I have good character because I respect all my peers and teachers. I also have not received a detention this year and very few white slips for arriving late to school. Lastly, I am very responsible and try to get all my work done days before it's due which is illustrated by not having a late or missing assignment. Finishing this assignment five days before the due date proves my commitment to my work. The final characteristic is citizenship. I believe I am a good citizen because I have had very few, if not any minor school infractions this year and no major school
Students work extremely hard for four years or more to keep high grades, but instead of looking at these grades, colleges base scholarships on one test that students take in a few hours. Scholarships should be based on GPA because it is the best representation of a student’s knowledge and shows the type of work ethic the student brings fourth. Colleges should want to give scholarships to diligent, disciplined, and deserving students who work hard their whole high school career, not just students who do well on one
I was always taught that I must work hard for everything I receive, I believe now is the time to show all I have worked for. At Gulf Coast I plan to obtain my Associate degree in Dental Hygiene. I am assiduous for this scholarship because during my years of high school I have worked hard not only in the classroom but at my job, sports, and clubs as well. Coming into high school as a Freshman I
Personal Digital Assistants (PDA’s) is a term used for any small, hand held device that provides computing and information storage and retrieval capabilities for personal and business use. At Adept Owl, Adept Owl uses PDA’s to scan barcodes on stores shelves to amend prices back and forth from sale to regular prices, for price increases/decreases. They are connected with the “Hoot” system and the information going through the PDA’s goes automatically through to the in-store cash register
'Tis the season for college applications, and as a senior in high school this bring a lot of stress to me and I am not the only one. "Teens across the U.S. are standing by their mailboxes, waiting anxiously for the envelopes that will seal their academic fate. It's college admissions season and for many students a lot hinges on how well they performed in standardized testing"(Sheffer). As I have gone throughout my high school career I have achieved a 4.0 GPA. However, despite my hard work, my GPA will be looked at but the main focus of the decision process will be based on my ACT scores, and because I received a 25 this is very stressful to me. Although a 25 is not horrible, it will jeopardize some of the chances I would have getting into a
The last time I checked, my GPA was somewhere in the 2.0s. When examined with a blind eye to the specifics, it most likely shows people that I'm a poor student, as most people judge scholarly ability by GPA. However, I believe that this is a flawed system, as it does not accurately show the full picture. When the dozen or so colleges that I applied to looked at my GPA, they were not looking into the meaning behind the number, missing the specifics of which classes I was performing poorly in and which classes I excelled in. Since a GPA focuses on everything at once rather than highlighting a student's struggles and weaknesses, it leads them to believe that a student is performing a particular way in all of their classes, a statement that has
One additional thing I would like the admissions committee to know about me is my love for politics. Ever since I was young, politics had a place in my life. My parents would take me to Obama rallies back in 2008, and I would diligently follow the news channels for news of the elections. Now I try to stay politically active by volunteering and writing and phoning my representatives.
Here are ten things I would want a college or a scholarship to know about me. First, I am a very hard working person when it comes to something i want. I'm also a very honest person. My third thing is that I'm a very trustworthy person. I'm also a very independent person. I'm very forgiving even when I shouldn't be. I'm also a very positive person although sometimes I think the worst. I'm also a very confident person. I'm very loyal. I'm very kind maybe even sometimes too kind. I'm very brave.
I hope that you can see from the rest of my application I take my academics and extracurriculars with great significance. However, there had been unfortunate series of events in my life, that at times they had left me hopeless. However, these events have taught me the meaning of hard work. During my Sophomore and Junior years, my family experienced life changing events that affected me. My mother, after working years in a nursing home, was suddenly unemployed. We were already a low income family, living paycheck to paycheck, the unemployment was distressing emotionally and financially. There was a lot of pressure put on me, being the only one in the house with a job. I wasn't able to focus fully on my course work because I had to provide
While I am fully confident in my ability to excel in graduate-level coursework, I am aware that my undergraduate GPA falls short of my potential. I hope that the committee reviewing
In conclusion, I should be accepted for the scholarship due to being fast learner, showing excellent working with peers, and possess a strong determination to achieve tasks. Some colleges will deny this application due to the African-American decent, but I know there is always an opportunity at your campus. Imagine being the first college who admitted a black woman to be a doctor and all the attention that would
When deciding to apply for the scholarship offered by APU, I have met a number of challenges. My first and
