"As much as I love my privacy, along with about every other teen in the world, I feel that we should have someone keeping an eye on our social medias to an extent. We have the freedom to be able to post whatever we want, comment whatever we want, and sometimes it can get out of hand. There are teens who have experienced plenty of bullying on the internet, also known as cyberbullying. There have been children from the ages 13 to 18 who have committed suicide just because someone can hide behind a screen and harass anyone they please. There should be some kind of boundary that should be set along the lines of someone watching over our social medias. This could prevent bullying and allow more adults to know what is really going on while their …show more content…
There have been students who have threatened other students online and in person, but most people are too scared to confront the situation, so they hide behind the screen and terrorize people just for the satisfaction. There have been teens sharing inappropriate photos online that should be banned right away, and could prevent and perverts from finding out where they might live or find out any other kind of private information they have no business knowing. Snapchat is an app that over 30 million users use on the daily. Little that adults may know, there is now a modification Snapchat has come up with allowing users to share their location. A little map will come up and show anyone who wishes to find out where they live or stay. This could be very dangerous, it could lead to someone being kidnapped, killed, or abducted. Your child could be on the amber alert just by one app with one setting on it. Teens need to be more careful with what they do/post online. A lot of us are unaware of the dangers that could happen at any time. Anything you post, once you post it, it’s going to be there forever. Even if you delete it just seconds after, it can never be unseen ever
We share our feelings, exact locations, and activities so easily through means of social media. These types of posts generally give away too much personal information which can further result in safety issues. Privacy isn’t such a big deal for teenagers now. They don’t realize the implications that comes with posting all of their life details.. This is where privacy needs to be of greater demand to keep children’s lives and secrets safe.
Social media has been a topic of debate for years. Some people are strongly against any use of it while others like the instant connection it provides. A major concern over social media is the lasting effects it has on teenagers. Social media can affect teenagers through many ways including things like their self-esteem. Cyberbullying is a raging topic of discussion centered around teens social media use. It can also effect their people skills and create a lack of community involvement. Some parents think that watching what their children do on social media is an invasion of privacy but is your concern for their privacy greater than your concern for their safety? Social media poses a great danger to today’s children. It can affect many aspects of their lives.
It’s no coincidence that a 16-year-old teenage girl, who thought she was meeting with her teenage pen pal, met with a 43-year old man and came up missing the next morning. It’s also no coincidence that a 13-year-old homosexual boy, who was constantly harassed with cruel messages online, hung himself last night. CNN reports that teenagers in the US spend approximately nine hours on social media a day. That’s over 250 total hours of average social media usage a month! Meanwhile, within the countless hours that the typical teenager spends online, it only takes one second for trouble to transpire. The large amount of time that teenagers spend online paired with the millions of users on major networks leave the door for social media abuse wide open.
This absolutely, positively can’t be happening! Matthew Irsfeld and I are sitting on the floor between the TV and the couch, stunned. But why are we so amazed? That's because President Donald Trump just announced that all technology will be banned for an entire month, starting tomorrow, March 25th. He can’t be serious.
Do something quick, think back to the last time you were on your cellphone. I bet it wasn’t very long ago, now was it? We use our cell phones all the time and to do just about anything. That doesn’t mean we’re obsessed with our phones, right? Well, maybe it does. On our phones we find different apps. Some apps we use all the time, others we only use when we are bored. By the end we will map out who uses social media platforms, what being obsessed means, and how these sites affect us.
Why have you waited so long to discover your gifting? Who have you allowed in life to downplay your talents and gifts? Do you realize that God views you as His excellent gift?
Firstly, children and teenagers all across America are being bullied on social media. Children and teenagers all across America are committing suicide because of the things people are saying and putting on social media. I read a book and it was called Fear Me by BB Reid, it was about a girl who was bullied by this boy since they were ten years old. This boy made fun of her all throughout middle and high school. He would do this by hacking into her social media and putting mean things about her on her social media or his. She thought about suicide many times, she cut herself, and her aunt was so worried about her, that she put her in a mental asylum. This book made me think about young people all across America, who might be going through the same thing that the girl in the book went through. If we started putting blocks on social media, like not being able to say anything that is considered rude, I think that will stop a lot of cyberbullying
Social media: like, tweet, favorite, save, retweet, love, share, post, snap, comment, subscribe, follow, notify, blog, chat, hashtag, tag, troll, and poke. An entirely new vocabulary was created. Snapchat your grandma, pin a new recipe, tweet your celebrity crush. The possibilities are endless. But is it really that great? People lie about where they’ve been, what they’ve ate, and even who they are. Everyone should permanently abandon social media because it’s destructive to the user’s health, it fosters the use of screens as a crutch, and hinders productivity. Some us social media because it’s fun. But the fun factor should depreciate once the health risks are taken into consideration.

Your house is on fire. You have time to grab three things, what would it be? Extreme as this may sound, most people will include their phone in the list, but why? Our society finds it hard to function without our smartphone's, As a result its no longer a luxury but a necessity. people in the 21st century can’t go to a restaurant without posting a picture of the food on social media. In Navneet Alang article “Technology isn't bad for Us, But Facebook might be” (2013) he pervades a very persuading argument, he finds that social media is controlling our lives . He believes it Causes people to struggle with finding happiness, it’s brainwashing us,and steals away the joyful moments .
The world as we know it is advancing, new technology comes out every year. No one leaves their house without some kind of communication device with them (i.e. a phone). We think that these phones are connecting us with people from across the world, when in reality; they are disconnecting us from our loved ones around us. People are so use to looking down, that they forget to look up.
Each day a total of 1 million new active social media users are added into the virtual que, which can translate to about 12 new users joining each second. The use of the social media has only grown over the years since a website called Six Degrees became the first recognizable social media site to hit the web. This site allowed a user to create a profile and add friends, much like current applications such as Facebook and Instagram. In continuation with that statement, current applications beat its predecessors by adding in blog commentary, comments, likes, and shares to enhance the experience. These applications are what drives people to use social media sites. The reasoning behind this is to indulge and connect with people by the way of instant contact through a virtual interface. In today’s world, people should spend time in social media to stay connected with the others, to participate in one’s community, and to advance a career or hobby.
Although social media has made society more connected than ever, people are also more alone than ever. An article from Forbes states, “Surprisingly, those who report feeling most alone, are those you’d expect it from least: young people under 35 who are the most prolific social networkers of all” (WomensMedia). This is because the 35 and under age group is the generation with the most technology. The more technology, the more alone people feel. Social media makes it incredibly easy to stay in touch with people, while also keeping distance. Most people find this easier and start to rely on social media and lose their real-life friendships, while becoming more alone by the minute.

With technology becoming so common and an everyday norm young adults and children are in a whole new community that adults did not grow with. Many times a real life community or environment does not feel supportive to a young adult and they seek out advice or they read about different ideas online that help them feel normal and at home with themselves. Although, because there are so many communities that young adults feel comfortable in they also face dangers from being in this secret unmonitored. Many Young adults feel safe posting about their personal life online because they believe that only their friends will see the information and others will not be willing to go through the trouble of finding them. It is because of this mindset that teens have that results in dangerous people harming them physically and or mentally. In a study conducted by the Harvard Mental Health Letter Internet users that were preteens or teens found that thirteen percent had received some type of sexual solicitation online in the past year, and four percent received aggressive solicitations where the solicitor attempted to make contact offline with them (Protecting, 2008). As adults and teachers we need to understand that social media is a big part of a student’s life because it was what many of them were born into. Although, we must also help them learn that in a world where anyone can hind behind a screen you can never be too careful with the information you put online.
