To upgrade your operating system you open the App Store and click Updates, or click Apple > Software Updates, and you can upgrade for free. If you purchase a new Mac you get Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iMovie, Photos free with no hassles. Of course, Microsoft follows suite of Apple in giving away Windows 10 for free too. However, there is one catch to the madness. You have to be an existing Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 7 user (no XP or Vista). In order to get Windows 10, you can use the notification that is received from the Windows Updates. Microsoft will keep bugging you to install Windows 10 until you do it. Another catch is it has to be done within a year (July 29, 2016) or you end up paying $120.00 fee to upgrade. Everyone excited about upgrading to Windows 10 need to be aware of a feature that if you are a Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 with Media Center and you install Windows 10, Windows Media Center will be removed. Microsoft will allow you to download a DVD playback app (Windows DVD Player) as long as you are upgrading for an older version of Windows and a qualified system.
