For this project I was supposed to look for a song that represents me. After a long hard search I finally found the song I was looking for. This essay will be about “A Million Dreams” from the movie “The Greatest Showman”. While I was listening to this song and researching it, I found many similarities to me as a person. This song is a a great song that has a great contrast of instruments and singing. The boy who sings the song wants to make his own world because he comes from nothing, he is just his father's apprentice. As it says in the song “I close my eyes and I can see the world that's waiting out for me that I call my own” like this part of the song I too can see the world that's waiting out for me. This song is a very creative and nice
While reading page nine through fifteen in the Wake Tech English 111 Reader I learned new strategies and tips on how to improve my song summary essay. I learned how to implement new strategies in my song summary essay so that I could write my introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion proficiently in my paper. Mutually, before reading the Wake Tech English 111 Reader I also did not know that when writing a rough draft for an essay a conclusion, introduction or body paragraph could be written first. Similarly, Ashley I always thought that an introduction had to be written before any other part of an academic essay. Primarily, I thought that an introduction had to be written first because my previous English teachers stressed
For my song analysis I chose a piece for a musical which is called Next to Normal. The song in the musical is called Superboy and the Invisible Girl. The musical features an average American family trying to hold itself together. The dad goes to work, the daughter, Natalie is a genius, but the mother, Diana, struggles with bipolar disorder and hallucinations. Their son Gabe, died as an infant, but the mother has been hallucinating him, growing up with the rest of the family as if he never died. So Gabe, in a strange way, is actually one of the main characters. This is a key song in the storyline because it is the first time that Natalie attempts to express her true feelings.
If you had to make a choice with nothing to choose from, how could you choose? Would your choice be the right decision since their is no guideline to your future? Listening to music can relieve stress and even a provide a guideline to the right choices. In the book The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton, the Curtis brothers and other greasers have difficult choices they encounter that relate their life to the song "Give Me Back My Hometown" by Eric Church. The song relates to the actions of the boys, the dreams the greasers have of becoming better, and the need to own the streets in their area.
The video “Big Hits, Broken Dreams” tells the story of a high school football team in Greenville, North Carolina. The video also tells the story of tragic deaths of high school football players who suffered concussion injuries that were not properly handled. Although everyone plays a role in the protection of high school athletes, the primary responsibility for reducing concussions and concussion related deaths falls on the shoulders of school administration. School administration is responsible for distributing funds in different areas of the schools, and these officials must make the choice to hire an athletic trainer to advise and evaluate these athletes. Several questions are raised in regards to this topic. Why aren’t the players and coaches
Music is a universal way in which people connect, and it does this through its use of literary devices to make the songs meaningful while still appealing. The song, “Wait and See,” uses literary devices like similes and metaphors to contribute to the theme of society’s mistakes and their impacts on the
Whiskey Lullaby is a song sung by Brad Paisley (ft. Alison Krauss) which narrates the story of a soldier coming back from war to find his wife in bed with another man. After this, the man drinks away his life trying to escape the pain until he commits suicide. Then the song continues to talk about how the woman follows down the same path after hearing about his death. In the end of the song they both get buried next to each other which symbolizes how they are finally together. The audience for this country song is those who have served or who have had family members serve. The unexpectedness of how life will figure itself out when the soldiers return. Also, how hard it is for families when their loved ones are out fighting, and they are
Dream on” by Aerosmith connects to Santiago and his recurring dream in the beginning of the story starting on Page 6. Santiago deals with a recurring dream and he does not understand why he is having it. This dream occurs every time Santiago sleeps under a sycamore tree that grows out of the ruins of a church. In this dream a child tells Santiago to go after a treasure located by the Egyptian pyramids. Santiago is confused by the message of the dream and goes to a gypsy woman to try and understand the dream. She says that he should go to Egypt in pursuit of the treasure. This leads to Santiago meeting a magical man who turns out to be the King of Salem. He says that going to Egypt is Santiago’s personal legend and he should set off for his journey tomorrow. This journey leads to Santiago arriving in Tangier and a robber taking all of the money Santiago brought in his journey towards the Egyptian pyramids. This leaves Santiago by himself as he now has to find a way to push through adversity and get to his destination. Dream on is about following your dreams and aspirations in life by following your journey. “Dream until your dreams come true” is a line highlighted in the song that captures the purpose of following your dreams. It is about your want to be someone and to accomplish what you are supposed to in life. Santiago’s purpose is to follow his personal legend by following the good omens throughout the story and find his way to the Egyptian Pyramids. Santiago has to
Throughout this course I have learned that Bruce’s songs have a deeper meaning than the tempo, instruments and lyrics of the song present. This is proven again with the songs Nebraska, Born in the USA, Ghost of Tom Joad, and Streets of Philadelphia. These songs can almost be looked at spiritually and emotionally for those who feel they don’t fit in with society. As Chet Flippo says about Bruce’s songs in his interview “a fundamentalist acceptance of life and its troubles, along with the faith that true belief will bring a better way.”

For my essay I choose to write about the song, “Drops of Jupiter” by Train. In March 2001 this song flooded the radios of millions of people, instantly topping charts and spending a year on the Billboard Top 100 list. In 2002, Train won two Grammy’s for this song and had the bestselling album to date. While this song continued to grow and captivate all who listened, but the true meaning to the song was left open. Many believed that it was about a man and woman in a rocky relationship, and the woman needing to leave so that she could find herself and realized what she truly wanted. It was not until 2003, when the lead singer, Pat Monahan, opened up and told that he had written the song about his mother who had died of lung cancer. Monahan mother had passed away a several years before, after her long fight with lung cancer. During his time of healing Monahan wrote the song, he recalled waking one morning from a dream with the words “back in the atmosphere” in his head. He says that his mother was telling him she was doing on her soul vacation, making him wonder what if we never really leave, what if we come back different; and thus the Drops of Jupiter was born.
The imagery in song lyrics is important when introducing a message; if one’s goal is to offer reflection to the listener. In “Don’t You Cry For Me”, Cobi achieves this through his mass use of metaphors, the extensive images of the tree and hanging are elements that are key in conveying his messages of fear, redemption, and injustice. This song directs listeners to stand up and not be afraid to fight for what they believe, in a way that can connect to them emotionally. The imagery in songs offers reflection into topics that are personal for each
The change of my mind set shows clearly in the song “Dreams’ by Fleetwood mac. In contrast to THE “My guy”, the woman in this particular song seems to be more aware of their own value. And she will not stand there while the man do wrong; she expects that the man will find out about her worth. “when the rain washes you clean, you’ know”. The singer expects that he will understand her value and he will change his attitude toward women or he will remain lonely. Compared the 60’s to 70’s women in the 70’s express more about how they feel. Also the Fleetwood mac band shows that the 70’s were more about
The Beatles- The name needs no recognition and no appraisals. Their most commercially successful single was 'Hey Jude'. It has sold an estimated eight million copies worldwide and has topped the charts in 11 countries. However, not all know certain facts about the song such as this single was originally not created as a song but was just something Paul McCartney thought about on his journey to Westbridge to meet Julian, John Lennon's son to comfort him during the divorce of his parents. Julian, then became Jude.
The song of songs it is a well-known but not so well understood book of the Bible, it’s 8 chapters of love poetry and while there are an introduction and a conclusion, the book doesn’t have any kind of rigid literary design and that’s because it is a collection of poems. They are not meant to be dissected or taken apart. They are meant to be read as a flowing whole and simply enjoyed. The first line of the book tells us that it is “the song of songs” which is a Hebrew idiom like, “the holy of holies” or “the king of kings” it is a Hebrew way of saying, “the greatest thing,” this is the greatest song of all songs. We are told in the first line that this “song of songs” is of Solomon, which could mean that he is the author, his name does begin the book after all. But as I read the poems, I discover that the main voice of a woman, called “the beloved.” And while there is also a male voice, it does not seem to be Solomon. Solomon is mentioned a couple times in the poem, but he’s never a speaker, and you do have to admit Solomon is a very strange candidate as the author of this book, given the facts that he seven hundred wines. The “of Solomon” likely means “in the wisdom tradition of Solomon,” he was known for his wisdom, his poetry, his love of learning about every part of life. Also, Solomon became the father of wisdom literature in Israel, his legacy is here carried on, through a collection of love poems that explore the human experience of love and sexual desire. The opening
The song "The message" by Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five depicts the struggle of young black adults growing up in society. The struggle to make it out of poverty can be compared to survival of the fittest in a jungle. Only the strong would survive and adapt to the changes to fit in. Trying their best to make a betterment with whatever little society offers. Being a young black African American in the early 1980's was not easy. It was easier to live the fast life and gain fast money by being part of the drug community. Drugs, guns, and money was glamorized and this is what the young adults looked at as a means of getting rich. In the songs, a young man talks about how he is trying hard to hold on to the little bit of sanity he has left in his soul. He talks about the struggle he endures while trying not to get pushed over the edge. He was born an innocent child who's blind to the ways of mind kind. Growing up he faced many challenges and had to fight
