It was supposed to be fun, dancing, feasting and singing. Happy faces should be the one adorning the massive and luxurious mansion that’s fully packed with laughing guests. However, it was the complete opposite. The dancing and feasting have stopped, Faces of terror and the deafening sound of countless screaming replaced them. The guests were sprinting toward the exit, “Save your life!” they said, “There’s a murderer in this damned house” one shouted. “Run before they find you” another one screamed in agony. The massive crowd of screaming guests almost resembles a group of feeble fish trying to escape the fishing net. It didn’t take long for the frightened guests to flee the mansion and leaving it dead empty. Nothing can be heard, …show more content…
He just recently joined the police force, his superior suggest him to come investigate the crime scene with us since the victim is his own uncle. Although he refused, he agrees to be our drivers given that he knows the location well. “Come on lovebirds, standing there is not going to get you anywhere, jump into the car!” he shouts mockingly. While trying to get into the car, it is clearly visible that our faces have turned completely red resembling a deep crimson ruby. The journey feels like an eternity, we passed an eerie looking forest, crossed a long narrow bridge and even drove up and down many hills. Hours and hours of the boring trip seem to have made my partner drowsy. Watching his tired expression or the way he jolt his head up and down, is just plain charming. Whilst I was lost in thought, suddenly the car stopped, shocking the passengers and waking Thomas up in a blink of an eye. “Claudia, Thomas we’ve arrived!” shouts the man with a grumpy voice. Judging by the way he behaves, he seems to have been agitated by something. Come to think of it, ever since the crime was reported, he has stating to behave in a strange manner. Whenever I confront him about the issue, he would either sounds like mad-man or he would try his best to shun the conversation. Knowing the situation, I can’t help but feels slightly suspicious. While it is true that Simon is part of the family and therefore he might feel depressed after the tragic loss of his only uncle, it is also possible

“It's kind of fun to do the impossible” is a quote by walt disney. I believe that anyone can achieve the impossible just by working hard. This leads into the song I chose “Hall of Fame”by the script, the theme of this song is encouraging yourself to do the impossible, will eventually lead you to the hall of fame. First, one of the verses says “you can move a mountain, you can break rocks, you can be the master don't wait for luck, dedicate yourself and you will find yourself standing in the hall of fame.” This tells us that as long as you believe in yourself you can achieve your goals. For me achieving, has always been one of my biggest goals, whether that be in academics or sports. But I have had people tell that I am not smart enough to get
The story opens with this sentence, “In the living room the voice-clock sang, Tick-tock, seven o'clock, time to get up, time to get up, seven o'clock! as if it were afraid that nobody would” (1). This first sentence personifies the house and demonstrates its inner motives. The house’s goal is to please its inhabitants. It wakes everyone up, cooks breakfast, provides information about the day, and tells everyone their schedule. These actions give a first glimpse into the house’s love for its family. Suggesting that the house’s family has died, the narrator states, “But no doors slammed, no carpets took the soft tread of rubber heels” (1). At 10:15, the suspicion is confirmed, “The entire west face of the house was black, save for five places…. The five spots of paint—the man, the woman, the children, the ball—remained. The rest was a thin charcoaled layer” (2). The house is alone and thus, has lost its purpose. Unable to accept this fact, the house continues to try to please its family.
smiles burning through the walls of the house, and now they were screaming at each
Attention Getter: What if one of your friends just fell to the ground because they couldn’t breathe, would you know what to do, could you perform CPR if it was needed? It is said by the American Heart Association that sadly 70% of Americans do not know how to do CPR, or they just don’t remember how.
While the poor were suffering and dying “The prince had provided all the appliances of pleasure. There were buffoons, there were improvisatori, there were ballet-dancers, there were musicians, there was Beauty, there was wine”(1). The wealthy people were worrying only about themselves and made no attempt to help the sick. They just hide in the abbey and pretend that everything ok. The guest know they are being selfish and they feel afraid. They try to act like it's ok but you can tell they are scared when the clock strikes them all silent until “light laughter at once pervaded the assembly; the musicians looked at each other and smiled as if at their own nervousness and folly”(3). The guest know what they are doing is wrong and fear they will pay for it. They all try to laugh but it comes off as timid and just confirms that they are
“I still couldn’t believe what happened that day!” Michael exclaimed with his croaked voice. “I literally thought the world was ending right in front of me, my wife, and my baby as the Twin Towers were reduced to rubble.” Sometimes it was surprising to see how an hour could turn the financial capital of the world into a state of chaos and anarchy. I was near the area reporting about a local family living under poverty when tragedy struck back in 2001, and now I am presenting to you a story of a survivor of this horrific incident.
I don’t know that by this time you would have finished your college education as the Jenningses insisted on supporting you or not. I read about you in Bryan Stevenson’s book, Just Mercy. I never anticipated the prison system to be so loose that they would let the sexual assault happened to you the first night you arrived in the cell. It is particularly disturbing as the system undermines the safety of the inmates. It is also extremely irritating when the prosecutor and the judge abused their power of authority by only listening to praise of how great man George was and the fact that George died because of the shoot, and ignoring the facts of what George have done to you and your mother.
You wake up gasping. Outside air fills your lungs. Frosty water smoldering your body. Opening your eyes, a blinding white room pierces your vision. A voice issues into your head, "You have been resuscitated by your cherishing government. You have encountered a close demise experience. It would be ideal if you recollect than deliberate erasure is not allowed in the United Kingdom. In the event that you wish to be erased, please exhibit your application to a nearby office." Slowly, you hurl your new body off a coroner's table. The world influences somewhat. Wandering through a corridor loaded with trash, you achieve the high arcing front entryway. Scarcely amazing any longer, you go under the disintegrating workmanship without a second look.
My guests grew tired of all of the extravagant halls and small entertainment I had set up for them. Wishing to keep my guests pleased, I threw a masque of great magnificence. I gave my guests tasteful, yet grotesque costumes designed by my own glorious hand and an utterly bizarre ball environment. Within my abbey, I created seven rooms of many hues lit by only a fire’s gleam outside of a corresponding shade stained glass window. The last room, the seventh, I believe, was the most peculiar. I had devised an atmosphere encompassing every shade of black; however, the windows reminded all that entered of the terror raging outside: the crimson, terrific hue of blood as the lightness of the fire could not seep through the darkness of the color of
“But from a certain nameless awe with which the mad assumption of the mummer had inspired the whole party, there were found non who put forth a hand to seize him; so that unimpeded he passed within a yard of the Prince’s person;”(Poe, 76) a stench strong with rotting filled the chambers, to every corner so that none of the revellers were spared. The figure continued his slow pace through the blue chamber to the purple, from the purple to the next and so forth with the rest. The silence was deafening only contradicted by the drum of heart beat. The lights through the window panes seemed to grow brighter with every daunting step, making the color in each apartment blaze strongly; especially the scarlet red. Engulfed with a rage the prince engaged after it; but the he was too late once in the black room the figure vanished, gone with him the stench and agonizing terror. Once again a light laughter pervaded the
My fellow americans, I would like to discuss an issue that this country has and has had for many years now. I believe that for a problem to be solved, we need to have a basic understanding of what it is. For those who do not know, healthcare is the government's efforts to support you, the people of the United States, financially in an event of illness or injury. Although we know what healthcare is, we have failed to give it to you, the people. We have created a poor excuse for healthcare, that has not done what is should be doing, which is to take stress off of you not adding more on.
We are pleased to announce that the Covenant HealthCare Executive Team approved 2018 wage increases for Covenant employees.
“Since we were the only people there, we thought that we might as well try it. We decided that we would all get one wish. Shannon wished for 1 million dollars, Mom wished for a new car, and I simply wished to be rich and famous. As we were walking around, Shannon said that she was going to see something really quick and when she turned the corner the lights shut off. The last thing Mom and I heard from her was “Money” then a scream and we never heard anything or saw again that night.”
The San Diego County American Red Cross is critically low on their blood supply and is asking for the community to step up to donate blood. All of us have chosen to work for The Veteran Safeguard Foundation because we care about helping others and making a difference with the work we do. I suggest that we all come together to help the San Diego American Red Cross as much as we can by donating our blood.
