1. Do you see spirituality in the movie Letters to God? What kind of Spirituality do you see in movie: especially in Tyler?
Yes, I do. From the movie, I could see the holistic Spirituality especially in the life’s of Tyler. It is the way that everything is connected. It can understand a whole only by looking at its parts and it can understand a part only by looking at its whole. Celebrate diversity and connection. The one who seems to be dealing with the situation the best is Tyler, the boy with cancer. He displays the kind of faith Jesus Himself describes in Matthew 21; the faith that can move mountains. Here is the premise – a little boy with brain cancer shares his thoughts, dreams, and concerns in letters that he writes to God. Subsequently, the troubled mailman who is tasked with ‘delivering’ these letters eventually turns his life around due to the unflinching Christian witness of the boy. Tyler displays his child-like faith by writing letters to God and placing them in the mail box. The letters end up in the hands of the mailman.

I could see the way of connection in the various situations through Tyler’s life, for example; in the beginning, a new mailman comes into the scene. He is a lost, drunken, hopeless man who has lost his wife and son, as a result of his addiction to alcohol. God has said the wages of sin is death but sin, also, has earthly wages, which is realistically portrayed though the life of this mailman. Through Tyler’s letters to God, he begins to be inspired and is touched by Tyler’s strong faith in the Mighty One. “How can a dying boy have so much hope and a perfect healthy man is slowly killing himself?” And it causes me to examine myself, to say the
The plays consisted of various family issues that goes on in everyday life. When Tyler Perry found Madea I think he hit the jackpot. Madea is somewhere in everyones family, friends, spouses in everyday life. He had television shows Meet The browns, House of Payne, and My favorite the Have and the Have not’s. All of these shows bring laughter into your home or wherever you are watching from. Tyler has an amazing talent and he gives back to the world through his plays and televisions shows. Tyler Perry has given many people jobs that never though they would ever become an actress. Some events in a persons life can either make them or break them. Tyler Perry was indeed a person that let his life events make him. He did not give up giving God the praise for everything he does. Its amazing how someone can take in so much and become so
It is important that we never forget that “all things are possible through God” even uniting and healing broken nations. This movie showed me the importance of inviting God to everything we do and to keeping our eyes on Him instead of what we see on the news. Healing will take place when “God shows
Therefore, the pathos Pastor demonstrated throughout the entire film was extremely particular and well structured. Pastor’s pathos captured the viewer’s attention by using a hook and then explaining in detail his motives. It was evident that Pastor was very passionate and determined to educate the viewers. Pastor travelled across the country in order to investigate and interview knowledgeable workers from the organic food industry.
My making this the title of the novel, it shows an element of faith and trust that they, especially Janie, place in God.
eloquent, forceful, realistic, honest, and inspirational. Only those people who watched through their masks of hate can say otherwise. There were many highpoints for me and below are
Mark R. McMinn’s (2011) Psychology, Theology, and Spirituality in Christian Counseling establish a way to bring Psychology, Theology, and Spirituality to Christian Counselors. He introduces a replica of how to integrate the three disciplines in the counseling office. The purpose of the book is to instruct counselors how to integrate categories of Psychology, Theology and Spirituality into Christian Counseling. McMinn (2011) contends that many challenges both professional and personal face Christian Counselors on the frontier of intradisciplinary integration. (Intradisciplinary integration is the new emerging frontier for Christian Counselors).
Once during a passionate sermon at church, my pastor had made a vivid statement about incorporation of sin in law. Pastor Smith stated, “the world has developed loopholes to maintain its dignity by incorporating sin into the law, and as long as we are operating under the law, our actions are perceived as being justified”(Smith). Reflecting on his theory has brought me to the realization that the United Stated has established a profitable industry, governed by the creation and the manipulation of laws. Although, it’s ideal to believe that the standards of laws were truly orchestrated with the foundation of equality, justice, and freedom. It is imperative to be informed of historical events that has transpired through the history of the black race each operating under the ordinance of law. Beginning with the development of slavery, to the alarming rate of black men behind bars. I am compelled to present the clause of injustice that has labeled the United States as the home of 25% of the world 's prisoners ().
In the book, “Psychology, Theology, and Spirituality in Christian Counseling”, author Mark McMinn gives the reader information on how these three entities can work together in Christian counseling. McMinn offers several ways in which this can be done including the use of prayer, Scripture, confession, forgiveness, the effects of sin, and redemption in counseling sessions. Through narration of counseling vignettes displaying different results, from different approaches demonstrates for the reader integration. There are very many counselors in different walks in their faith and McMinn helps to explore this area for future and practicing clinicians.
Spirituality and religion hold different values and truths depending on your personal beliefs. Being religious is a belief or practice that contains certain values one should follow. When looking deeper into religion you can find spirituality which is the part of religion that effects our spirit and soul, it is not tangible. “The Sacred within” is spirituality and pertains to God dwelling inside of our heart and soul. When looking at “the sacred within” there are certain senses that we can tap into so, we may obtain that sort of spirituality. Through solitude, silence, imagination, and nature, we can have a better sense of spirituality.
The artistic elements of the movie are shown by the repeating theme of Jack’s journey towards enlightenment. He attends support groups and learns how to meditate to become a happier person. There is a principle aspect of Buddhism shown throughout the movie. The
It is evident in the world today that there is a need for guidance and counseling. There are many statistics of issues the world faces that prove the need treatment. For example, 35% of persons who marry end up divorced. 40% of children live in a home where a father is not present. By age 18, 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused by someone they love and/or trust. Approximately every 20 minutes a person commits suicide within the United States (Clinton, 2005). This list goes on and is even found within the church. Professional counseling and lay Christian counseling have found a way to help individuals overcome these issues though certain techniques and methods. These techniques and methods are often adopted from secular psychologists such as Carl Rogers who founded Client-Centered Therapy. While both counseling groups have a goal to help individuals overcome their issues, should Christian counselors, specifically, accept secular professional counseling techniques?
Not only is the storyline enough to keep your attention, but Ryan Hope shot the video beautifully. Everything from the long shots throughout the church, to the close up reaction shots, Hope didn’t miss a bit in the direction of this video.
Mysticism is a word we find in many books that relate to religious experiences. Mysticism is interpreted as searching for spiritual truth and wisdom through the unification with the Divine. Many Christians today believe that the words associated with mysticism like meditation and mystic are not coherently related with Christianity, but more with many Eastern religions. Eastern religions are definitely known for their mysticism, but it is believed to not be a part of Christianity. Mysticism is actually a vital part of Christianity in ways that are more spiritual rather than only being engaged with Christian rituals. Mysticism is the faith that spiritual reality is believed to be from human knowledge and their senses. It searches for truth
I think this is one of the best movies out there to show Solidarity. Paul is a great example throughout the movie when he makes his connection with John Coffey. Paul does what he thinks is right by God when doing anything and brings it over in work. John is also an example of solidarity when he heals people. He is doing his call by God and using his gif from God to help people in need. He never thinks anything of it and never wants any credit. He is humble and just wants to share his gift to God’s creation. This movie represents solidarity because it gives us a deeper understanding of we should act as Christian people.
The movie doesn’t relate to me because I am Christian. My beliefs are different. As an example, I think there is a God. It also challenges my religion beliefs. The movie and the religion say that there is no God to believe in a person is just trying to reach the inner-self and find Nirvana. In my religion I believe there is a god who I worship. Since I was a little kid I was taught there is a God in school also in the house by reading the Holy Bible. Also Buddhism in movie they say that Atman or soul in not a thing or that it doesn’t exist. In my religion I believe that everyone has a soul. Another thing the movie shows is reincarnation. Buddhists believe that after dying they are born again in another body with the same thoughts that they had in the past life. An example of that would be, when Lama Norbu tells Jesse’s father whose name is Dean about how the contents of mind are that same when a person is reborn. My beliefs are different. When I die I believe that my soul is going to another place which is either Heaven or Hell. I don’t believe that I would be born or at least that’s what my faith tells me. This Movie would relate to someone whose religion is Hinduism. That’s mainly because a lot of things are related to it such as
