In order to meet the energy demand and a sustainable future, renewable energy is a better way to achieve it.
Commonly, renewable energy is defined as energy which is able to be captured from existing natural resources that are replenished rapidly, such as flowing water, sunshine, wind, geothermal heat flows and ocean [2]. Renewable energy technologies are required to provide technologies to use one or several renewable energy resources. There are some different types of renewable energy technologies, which include solar energy, bioenergy, hydropower, wind energy, geothermal energy and tidal energy. This thesis project will focus on the solar photovoltaic which is currently one of types of solar energy technologies, and this technology using photovoltaic cells to converts sunlight directly into electricity.Solar photovoltaic system can generate electricity from sunlight through using PV modules, and the system can be integrated into building designs, installed on rooftops, or large scale power plant. With the development of photovoltaic technologies, solar photovoltaic capacity has been increased from 3.7 GW (2004) to 177GW (2014) [3]. Figure 2 shows this change from 2004 to 2014, there is a big trend of increase in these years. The increase of PV capacity can reduce the carbon emission and provides more job opportunities. It also helps to reduce air pollution and make a friendly environment for living. One of the common PV system is
Renewables are better environmentally than any other power source under specific circumstances. The two most touted renewable energy sources are wind power and solar power. The specific circumstances in which they are better are when the wind is blowing and the sun is shining. Unfortunately, neither the wind nor the sun can be guaranteed to function for any specific date or time. The sun can only be guaranteed not to shine for approximately twelve hours a day and wind has no guarantees at all. Also, technology is not advanced enough to adequately harness the power provided by the sun and wind when they are available. It would take five hundred times the amount of land to build a solar plant with the same output as a nuclear plant (Oliver Hospers 24-25).
A solar photovoltaic power system is a technology that converts the energy from sunlight into electrical energy. Residential solar photovoltaic systems can offset much of a household's power needs, depending on the size of the system and the household's needs. The output power from is directly proportional to power received from the sun, which varies throughout the day and year. The rated maximum output of the module might be achieved only occasionally, depending on actual site conditions. It is a renewable source of energy that is sustainable and totally inexhaustible. Solar energy is also a non-polluting source of energy that doesn’t emit any greenhouse gases when producing electricity.
Solar energy is defined as the transformation of the sun’s rays into useful forms of energy, for instance, electricity and heat. The capacity of solar radiation a place receives depends on a variety of factors such as geographic location, time of day, season, and local weather. According to Knier (n.d.) photo voltaic and concentrating solar power cells are the two forms of sources to produce electricity. Photo voltaic cells generate electricity directly using solar cells and concentrated solar power cells generate electricity using steam. According to The World Bank - for the past three years, India has taken a enormous step in forwarding and in implementing the green growth agenda by producing 2,000 MW of solar power at the world’s cheap tariff. Solar power is likely to reduce India’s usage of imports of diesel and coal. A number of measurements are probably taking to generate 20,000 MW of solar power in future by 2022. The Solar industry is likely to create 200-400 jobs in the industries like research, development and installation, for every 10 MW of solar power generated. Hence, the government of India had taken enormous steps to increase the productivity of the solar energy. This research report will discuss the effectiveness and the limitations of solar power in India
Renewable energy sources are good for the environment but some people frown upon the idea of having renewable energy sources. They are more expensive than fossil fuels and nonrenewable energy sources. A Lot of energy needs to be put in both the research and manufacturing of nonrenewable resources. Renewable energy sources are cheaper because of the energy source already having the components in order
Recently, the price of unrenewable energy resource such as oil, coral and natural gas is increasing by time because of rare and more and more usage for individual and industries. Solar panels which use energy from Sun are considered as renewable energy through the form of solar radiation, UV. Solar technologies are broadly characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on the way they
The threat of global warming is influencing people to become “greener,” turning to renewable energy options which are often referred to as alternative energy. Renewable energy refers to energy that does not come from burning of fossil fuels or pollutant infused methods to provide energy. It is the harnessing of natural resources that are constantly renewable such as sunlight for solar panels and wind for wind turbines, just to name two (Lamb, 2015). The use of renewable energy is not only beneficial to the preservation of traditional energy sources but to environment and humans and lastly it economically will become a better option for people. Renewable energy is the key to a healthier future.
This report firstly gives an overview on renewable energy. Then it looks at four different sources as options. Finally solar energy is discussed in more detail with advantages and disadvantages.
Ever since the late 19th century, people have been trying to perfect energy sources to make their lives easier. An ideal Energy source is one that costs little to produce, little to maintain, and yields a high energy output. We found a temporary resource that we used for over a century, coal and natural gases. The problem with sources like these are that they will eventually run out. Renewable energy is energy that can be produced without depletion. Human have been using a form of renewable energy for hundreds of years, such as the watermill. Renewable energy is needed because it will never run out, it is more efficient than today’s methods, and it does not pollute the environment with greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide.
This brief paper explains the rapid growth of solar energy. It introduces how the sunlight is transformed in to energy. It introduces how South Korea is developing the solar energy with some examples. There are two large solar power plants and two on-going city project to create Green city. It discuss about positive and negative sides of solar energy. Solar energy is renewable, abundant, available, environmentally friendly, silent, shared, less electricity cost, low maintenance, and supported. On the other hand, solar energy is expensive, intermittent. Also, there is process relating with pollution Finally, it introduce how to install solar panels in houses in South Korea.
In today’s time, solar energy has already dominated the market and has drastically changed the way our nation gets its energy supply. In every 50 to 100 square miles of American land, the effects of use of solar energy have become pretty prevalent that even small scale businesses, residences and properties have already showed interest in this new energy trend. It is now considered as one of the world’s cleanest forms of energy and plans to further utilize the use of this form of energy have started to emerge. These plans will target to resolve specific national issues including climate change, water waste disposal, high energy cost and etc. And just like any other forms of energy sources currently available in the market, the use of solar energy has its own advantages and disadvantages.
One of the earliest being the Ignatian Spirituality, where prayer, discernment and service are the focus. St Ignatius Loyola provides a useful model of retreat in his recommendation of spiritual exercises undertaken for 30 days. This retreat practice allows prayer through meditation and contemplation and has its roots deep in early Christian tradition and the scriptures. The Society of Jesus, founded by St Ignatius were one of the first orders to practice retreat by rule and pass the exercises onto communities. St Ignatius believed that the exercises helped reform his own life, he had an encounter with self, therefore a deeper encounter with God in solitude using the exercises. (Litchman,
According to National Climatic Data Center, the sunniest state is Arizona in the United Sates, which is 193 clear days pre year.(1) Yuma City where in State of Arizona has 313 days of sunshine. This climatic condition is good for solar power generation. In order to reduce the environment impact, a desert region is a proper choice. There are two more benefits. The cost of land is much cheaper than urban area. In addition, there is no any shelter nearby. Nevertheless, solar farms have to be maintained regularly. If install a solar farm at an isolated location, it will be hard to maintenance. A location of photovoltaic farm has been chosen as Figure 2. It is situated in a desert region for decreasing the environment impact and next to a road for maintenance easily.
Solar energy may define as the energy received by the earth from the sun. This solar energy is in the form of solar radiation. With the help of solar cells, solar radiation can convert into electricity. Sun is a highly powerful energy source, humans and natures are directly depending on the sun. For example in hydro-electricity the solar energy needed for the evaporation of water after that it returns to earth as rain and provides water in dams. In biomass, the solar energy used that process. Solar cells directly converted solar radiation into electricity, during the process time there is no noise or pollution are there. These cells made with some semiconducting materials. If use solar cells in our home it will help to reduce the greenhouse gas emission, minimise the percentage of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere and mainly reduce the necessity of fossil fuels and natural gas use to produce electricity. According to the Ben Sorensen, solar energy is one of a good source of substitute energy, for the reason that it is renewable, economical and does not pollute our environment. Thus, this essay will be divided into three parts. Firstly, we will talk about fossil fuels and its demerits. Secondly, we will look at the issues and implications of solar energy. Finally, we will focus on the advantageous and disadvantageous of solar energy respectively.
Now a day’s people are more concerned about the application of the renewable energy source, like wind, tidal, biomass, ocean and solar radiation (photovoltaic) because of the raising oil prices, fossil fuel deficit, global warming and negative impact of environment. Among all the renewable energy sources the energy through photovoltaic (PV) can be most
Abstract: The current energy situation with fossil fuels as the main source of the world’s energy has two main flaws: fossil fuels contribute to global warming via the greenhouse effect and they are limited in the quantity that remains. Solar power solves both of these problems and can be captured by utilizing photovoltaic cells. However, photovoltaic cells have their own drawbacks due to their high costs of installation and maintenance.
