You hear almost every day another school goes into lock down or some crazy lunatic takes a gun to school its every tragic to hear of students and teachers getting shot. You hear of parents so afraid to send their child to school or not knowing when they drop their son or daughter off it will be there last. What if we can take preventive measures to help prevent a troubled individual or make them think twice about taking a gun to school? There are many things that schools can do to secure the students inside and are being implemented, but who are the students always around? And who sees the students more than anyone else? The teachers and I believe we can do the most good by arming them with guns after the proper training and
Since the year 2000 there have been 45 active shooter incidents. Imagine your child is in school learning, then all of a sudden a shooter enters the school. You would hope that the kids and teachers know what to do. The only issue is that the lockdown the schools are mandated to use are actually more effective at scaring the kids during drills than protecting children during an actual active shooter situation. When lockdowns occur the children and teacher huddle together in a corner away from windows and doors, however this creates a problem when the shooter enters the room and it makes an easy target. Also, the amount of times my school and I practice these lockdowns creates a lackadaisical approach toward the drill, then when a drill becomes a real life situation the student body will be less inclined to take the lockdown seriously. Which brings me to the topic of reforming the lockdown procedure.

Schools need to ensure that policies are in and that they are up to date and if they need amending
The school employs a number of sanctions to enforce school rules and to ensure a safe and positive learning environment. We employ each sanction appropriately to each individual situation.
School isn’t a safe place anymore. Once it was just a place of learning and growth but recently it’s become dangerous as some people take advantage of this safe place to prey on the innocent. This is most evident in the numerous school shootings this year. To prevent more tragedies schools shouldn’t need a warrant to search student property; it’ll prevent violence, increase safety, and they’ll also be protecting the innocent.
School safety is an important problem that many people are concerned about. Alabama House Bill HB 91, Branch of government involved is Legislative.
I would like to address a pertinent issue having to do with our district policies regarding lockdowns, preferably school shooting lockdowns. As an Estrella Foothills High School senior, I couldn’t help but express my concerns for next year’s students. I’ve attended this high school for all four years and I am able to count how many lockdowns we’ve had because it’s been so minimal. How would we know what to do until it really happens to our school? I propose that we, as a school, practice these types of lockdown drills at least twice a month so we can be prepared at any given moment.
Locker should have a frequent check on them the school have the rights to check any student lockers issued to them it is government owned property and shouldn’t have any material that’s not consider school based material. But research say 100,00 students bring guns to schools and 260 teachers are physically assaulted thought the United States which is a valid case of reasonable suspicion of passions of weapons and that’s just not counting the incent children were shot are killed due to bullying. And what about the drugs that could be on school property that’s a lot for the matter that school’s are built so that the children can get a good education and be successful and helping decrease poverty I would want my child to be afraid to go the school
Along with regulating student behavior, more security issues need to be addressed in order to maintain a safe school. For example,
There is so much happening in today’s generation. But one of the biggest thing that we have to deal with today is drugs and weapons being brought into schools. School should be a safe learning environment for children. Children should not feel like their life is in danger in any kind of way. And it is the teachers and other adults in the building place to protect every child. In my opinion, I think that school officials should have the right to check for drugs and weapon at any time. My reason for this is because first kids can be selling drugs in school. Secondly, there are so many school shootings happening today. Thirdly, its school officials job to protect they kids in the school at all time.
A way for the schools to be safer is to practice the A.L.I.C.E. A.L.I.C.E. stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate (Eells). It’s effective to practice it because the kids and teachers have a chance to practice how to protect themselves during a real life events. School intruder situations can last anywhere between five to seven minutes (Eells). When the school is alerted that they are on lockdown, teachers are advised to use plain and simple language. They are advised to use plain and simple language because it won’t confuse the children and they can escape quicker. If the class can’t escape through the windows or through the doors, the school urges them to barricade and lockdown the classroom. Barricading the classroom may include moving file cabinets to the door, shoving desks against the door also, and covering all windows. After lockdown,
