Obsessive terrorists regularly work alone rather in gatherings like the others on this rundown and frequently are not genuine "terrorists" as they do not have any all around characterized political motive.Pathological terrorism is most usually found in school shootings and serial slaughtering situations. The shootings at Columbine High School and of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords all serve as case of obsessive terrorism since the individuals who completed them looked to utilize brutality to threaten for their own particular
The word ‘terrorism’ can be traced back to the French Revolution and the reign of terror committed against the population of France in the 1790s. During this time, thousands of people were killed and the general population was severely oppressed. Also, some of the first instances of terrorist tactics, such as assassination and intimidation, were witnessed in the killing of prominent officials and other opponents of the Revolution. In general, terrorists aim to incite fear in the population through pre-meditated violent acts and gain publicity as a medium in achieving their goals. Such acts include taking hostages, bombings and assassinations, all of which create fear and compliance in a victim or audience. Terrorism can be distinguished from other types of political violence through its disregard for and intentional harming of innocent civilians. Also, terrorists usually adopt a state of mind where one side is always good and any opposition is bad and deserves to be punished. As a result, terrorists will always have some supporters who share the same radical thoughts as them and thus terrorism, as a whole, will always be accepted as a legitimate use of violence. This is the reasoning behind the famous phrase by Gerald Seymour, “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter”(QUOTE
During the years there were multiple types of terrorism attacks that were done for different reasons. What I mean is that terrorism started to achieve its own identity. Nationalist movements which are known as, “Efforts on the part of a group or a nation to obtain political independence and autonomy.”(Mcentire, 2008) These types of attacks started to flourish in the Middle East, and other places such as India and Ireland. (Mcentire, 2008) Anarchists are known to be those who, “oppose specific government or all governments. “(Mcentire,
The United States has been in a national state of emergency fighting a war on terrorism since September 11, 2001. The intelligence communities have pursued and tracked down terrorist suspects who pose a direct threat to this country, yet one of the greatest threat to this country is the astronomical number of mass shootings and hate crimes that have occurred in this country post 9/11.
Often in American history terrorism has gotten the best of us. Terrorism has torn our people apart and caused us to be afraid of going about our lives, therefore succeeding in its purpose. One of those attacks being the event that occurred September 11, 2001 when “terrorists
The U.S. suffered a very terrible blow September 11, 2001 when a terrorist group named Al-Qaeda hit our country with a series of terrorist attacks in New York and VA which claimed the lives of more than 3000 people, and left us speechless, hurt, without many loved ones and puzzled on how it happened. Before that there had been several attacks such as the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City in 1993 and of the Federal building in Oklahoma two years later known as the Murrah Building ( Kano, Wood, M., Bourque, L. B., & Mileti, D. S., 2011).
Terrorist attacks on the United States have been going on for decades or since the 1980 's when the United States Embassy was bombed that killed numerous Americans and civilian casualties. There was also the bombing at Khobar Towers in Beirut which happened months after the embassy incident. This attack killed numerous marines and injured many civilians that were present during that fateful day. This was long before the likes of Al Qaida and ISIS. Both were surprise attacks and there was not any warning giving but that was just the beginning of numerous attempts into the future years. Interesting fact is that many of the people that were killed during the embassy attack were CIA agents. That goes to show that the United
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines terrorism as the use of violence, or threatened use of violence, in order to achieve a political or religious goal. Terrorism is committed by groups that view themselves as victimized by a historical wrong. These groups of people will most likely have no formal connection to the government. Terrorism comes from the Reign of Terror initiated by Maximilen Robespierre during the French Revolution. The beginning of terrorism goes all the way back to the first
In Statecraft, from turn zero it was apparent terrorism was going to be a prevailing issue. In fact, only one nation, per the Bush Doctrine, was not a state sponsor of terror. An important element of the Bush doctrine was the lack of distinction between terrorist and anyone including the states who aid the terrorist. With terrorist surrounding my nation from the west and south supporting terrorist organizations, I advised our nation’s leader to adhere to the Bush doctrine. Unfortunately, my fake nation’s leader focused on other things such as recycling. After our leader continually ignored numerous warnings, our Capital and other cities were continually attacked by OLF and the Typhoon pirates. Not being President, all I could do was the minimal, and otherwise was forced to sit back and watch not only Elferians but the citizens of the entire Statecraft world lose their family and friends from terrorist attacks.
Throughout this span of assaults, 3,075 people were killed. On September 11, 2001, of those 3,075 people, 2,996 were killed in what was the most devastating terror attack in U.S. history, 9/11. Four commercial planes were hijacked by Al Qaeda members. During this event, two of these hijacked aircrafts crashed into the World Trade Center buildings, one into the Pentagon, and one was retaken and crashed into a Pennsylvania field. The mastermind behind this attack, was none other than Osama bin Laden. (“Islamic Terror on American Soil”). This was a slap in the face to the U.S. and all of its citizens. This attack has been burned into our minds ever since; everyone has a memory of their exact location and what they were doing when this tragic event took place. The terror attacks of 9/11 will not be forgotten any time soon. As a result, we the U.S. citizens were not discouraged and did not cower, but instead, we came together, and our sense of national pride grew even stronger. We became more aware of the threat that these terrorists posed on us and it made us realize that we must end the reign of al Qaeda and all
Within the several typologies, there are five main terrorist and violence typologies. These typologies are criminal, political, pathological, labor, and war. Terrorism can fall under any of these; usually terrorists fall under more than just one category. It is better to look at the typologies as a color spectrum.

There are different types of terrorism and there are some that are popular and has been used more than others which are demonstrative, destructive and suicide terrorism. Throughout the last decade and a half, foreign terrorism has evolved into a wide array of multi-faceted violent ideologies. Although the motives are narrow and have focused mainly on politics and religion, the ultimate goal is to coerce the government. The government has the ability to collapse nations or start their own terrorist nation. That type of terrorism is typically seen in jihad by Islamists. Of course there is also another side of terrorism, which is rarely discussed in American media outlets, but it does exist. Domestic terrorism from hate groups such as the KKK, Black Panthers, Aryan Brotherhood, Nazi's (Neo-Nazi's), and the Animal Liberation Front (ALF). These groups have different reasons for their violent ideologies but all share
Terrorism in the twenty-first century has some similarities and differences from terrorism in the twentieth century. Terrorism is, in its broadest sense, the use or threatened use of violence in order to achieve a political, religious, or ideological aim. Also useful to remember that because the two entities involved, the terrorists and the terrorized, are on the opposite end of the political, religious or ideological continuum, the same act is viewed by them differently. There is much sense in the phrase one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.
