For the final element I'm analyzing in the story I'm going to discuss the mood. In the story the mood actually changes up a bit. In the beginning the author is describing how Annie’s husband left her and how she'll have to raise her sons on her own with almost no money so it is quite somber. But as the story progresses on and Annie begins to make a name for herself and have a successful career by preserving on her own the story ends by leaving the reader feeling optimistic and hopeful because the courage Annie had throughout the entire story worked off and made her a happy successful woman.
The Morel family enjoyed life during the short period of time Walter was at the hospital because of an injury that he got from the mine. They were better financially because Walter wasn’t spending all of the money on booze and gambling. Most important the Morel family was better off emotionally because Morel wasn’t spreading his negativity.

Sarah and John relationship issues have resulted in separation stemming from lack of communication, anxiety, isolation and disconnection resulting in a dysfunctional marriage. Their lack of interaction in their relationship and being unaware of each family members feeling and behavior has contributed to their marriage break down. John feels, Sarah does not pay attention to him since the kids were born. Sarah finds John irresponsible and that she needs to do look after the responsibility in the family otherwise it would not get done. Another hypothesis is that Sarah has experienced an unnatural death in her family by her father Max who committed suicide, which contributes to Sarah feelings that she was to blame for his
Things have gone downhill in a matter of days, and I have simply had no time to myself to sit and ponder. Brother John has recently killed himself due to his gambling debts. Shocked beyond belief, Mother had a stroke and is now on her deathbed, slowly fading in and out of life. Eliza and I have been tasked with taking care of her until she ultimately passes away. For the record, grieving and taking care of your dying mother at the same time is not an easy task. Jane is now coming back to Gateshead. What for, I simply have no clue. Last I checked, she hated Mother with a passion. I certainly hope she does not stay too long, for I almost went blind from looking at her as a child. I wish things didn't turn out like this, but it is what it is.
After the death of her husband, Mother struggles to keep her family together by providing the support and guidance they need, and encouraging them to use good judgment and think of the family as a whole before making their decisions. As the family faces various obstacles, each seemingly more severe than the last, Mother begins
10), with a life and family very different from the ones Dick and Jane’s. Instead of having a house that was the perfect traditional home that Dick and Jane had, her home is shown to be broken down, dark and cold. Claudia and her sister never received their parent’s full attention and affection and were usually treated like a burden at times. However, despite how their parents made them feel, their mother was always around when they needed her most. This can be seen when Claudia says, “No one speaks to me or asks how I feel.”
With her husband's outrages and seclusion, she did her best by taken care of the situation with care and calmness, especially in front of her children. Surely, when alone, she would breakdown from the pressure, sadness and changes. A family that would once take walks together on Sundays now had to deal with the father's outrages and drinking problems. Ben, the narrator, was only eight years old at the time and even his young fragile mind noticed that his life would forever be different.

Through the use of analogies and imagery, the author shows the development of despondency in the speaker. The analogy “The mouse which once hath broken out of trap is seldom tricèd with the truthless bait”, uses imagery to suggest the speaker feels betrayed by the deception of the woman he loved. Through the analogy, the author discreetly refers to the speaker as the mouse emphasizing his weariness. The author compares the pain of the trap to the heartache of the speaker further emphasizing the betrayal that was caused by the woman in comparison to the mouse and the bait. The analogy develops justification to the seclusion of emotion the speaker has put himself under but also develops the illusion of inevitable deceit from the one he loves.
Scenario: If my entire body, from head to toe was completely burned and destroyed, would I be able to survive such a horrific situation? I believe that surviving this situation isn’t hard because I am my mind, and my mind is a completely distinct thing from my physical body; I am completely nonphysical. So, since my brain is not my mind, my mental states do not equal my physical states. Agreeing with the explanatory gap argument by Joseph Levine, I believe that there are some aspects of the mind that simply cannot be explained in terms of physical substances and this is because the mind is a nonphysical, wholly mental substance.
