The determintaion for seeking my future in Structural Engineering comes from my interest in Structures after I joined undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Kathmandu University. I’d found my interest growing already in Civil Engineering when I was in high school. I was following works of my brother while he was studying Civil engineering. I could understand and draw Plan and sections before I was got enrolled in undergraduate studies. During my undergraduate studies, I particularly enjoyed the subjects related to structural Engineering and material science such as structural analysis, RCC structure, and steel structures etc. Therefore, Joining the MS in Structural Engineering program at Lehigh University will help me to advance my career in Structural Engineering. …show more content…
I also enjoyed programming in C, C++, and Matlab. The Final year Project in my Undergraduate studies, which was a group project, was on the analysis of support system in Hydropower Tunnels in H igher Himalayas of Nepal. It studies the deformation of the tunnel, support interaction with rock mass, pressure on the support system, and stiffness of the support required etc. This project has proven to very beneficial to me as I came to know about the power of Final Element Analysis because of use of a powerful 2D finitef element software called RS2 (Phase2) for numerical analysis. During my Undergraduate studies, as a part of the course, I also interned at Upper Tamakoshi Hydro-Electric Project. This internship actually boosted my desire to choose my career path to Structural Engineering when I studied the plans and sections and work on the construction of a dam that was being
I am applying to the master's program in the Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering where I wish to continue my studies with a focus in computational structural mechanics and the design of composite structures. I have a strong desire to work in the field of high performance structures upon graduation. The program at Georgia Tech is well suited for my continuing educational goals as the aerospace graduate school is one of the top graduate programs in the nation and has a strong research and teaching focus in the field of high performance structures. I am a good fit for this program as I have exhibited a strong aptitude in my undergraduate mechanical engineering coursework at Georgia Tech and a willingness to take on new and challenging tasks

Because of the people I chose to surround myself around, I found myself wanting to go into the field of engineering. My friends knew I had a passion for math and they suggested engineering as an occupation I should look into. As of result of that, I found myself getting into more hands-on projects in my last two years of high school, as well as taking an engineering focused course in high school to try it out. I fell in love with the career path and since then, I aspire to become an
Truss bridges have been around for a long time. I see truss bridges the most out of all the different types of bridges and to me it seems like the most popular type of bridge. In addition there are thirty different types of Truss bridges which means that there is a bigger variety of Truss Bridges instead of just having one type. Truss bridges have triangular shaped beams that go all across the bridge. The bridge also is above the roadway instead of under the roadway like the arch bridge. Truss bridges could also stretch very far. The longest cantilever Truss bridge that goes is called Crescent City Connection and it is 13,418 feet long with a width of 52 feet. There is also a really long Truss bridge that is near Hoboken, the name of the bridge
I have chosen to pursue an education in Mechanical Engineering. My high school classes, visits to colleges, and research of different majors have led me to choose this field. Ever since taking AP Physics 1 in my junior year of High School, I have realized how much I enjoy problem solving through the use of many different aspects of physics. This interest has continued into my senior year, as I have chosen to take AP Physics 2. It is one of my favorite classes regardless of the coursework.
This is what prompted me to apply for the Texas A&M University, which I feel will mould me as a responsible professional. I am hopeful of pursuing my Masters in Construction Engineering in your esteemed institution. The Construction Engineering program that is offered by your esteemed University is truly fascinating and I believe it will give me insight to the latest techniques of current construction methodologies and provide me with necessary knowledge to take over my family business in the near future.
other classes in Architecture which requires extensive time of lab time. It has been very exciting
I have participated in numerous extracurricular activities. I have done Odyssey of the Mind for three years, and I realized over the years that I am interested in technical problems. My favorite part was build
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” From an early age, kids are asked this question and begin to consider what profession they might pursue. Initially, individuals might respond by picking a job that one of their parents has or one that is out of their reach, an actor, race car driver, professional athlete, etc. At some point during adolescence this question becomes incredibly important and much more consideration must be taken to answer it realistically. With thousands of careers to choose from, deciding which one to pursue might be one of the hardest decisions an individual faces. Although both degrees lead to the design and building of structures, many factors should be taken in consideration when determining whether to obtain a B.S. in Civil Engineering or B.A. in Architecture.
I am applying to pursue a course in Structural Engineering because it provides an ideal background to broaden my perspective and give me the opportunity to work on my current research interests that lie in the fields of earthquake engineering, bridge engineering and structural control &
My major has gradually revealed the fundamental disciplines and inherent architectures as well as systems of the computer and how to learn programming in the past several
For example, following the classification societies’ rulebooks is the conventional way to design a safe vessel. But sometimes due to design inadequacy, which class rules do not instruct, some weaker points remain over the structure, and those can result in severe structural failure during operation life of the vessel. With the help of advanced technology, it's possible to make the structure more reliable without making any significant change. Through graduate studies, based on my academic and current research skills, I firmly believe that I will be able to work on some gaps. I feel strong interests to carry out studies in the field of Finite Element Method, Stress based structural investigation, Computational Solid Mechanics and also in Mechanics of materials. While my undergraduate studies provided me a solid foundation, I need to study deeper on these subjects to explore researching on structural engineering and also to mark an impact on the further research
My interest towards mathematics made me to take Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as the main subjects during my intermediate (10+2). After obtaining 94% marks in Intermediate and securing a top 6% rank in engineering entrance test, I opted for Computer Science Engineering in JNTU College of Engineering. Immediately after my Bachelor’s degree, I secured the job in Wipro Technologies and this offered me numerous opportunities to learn about the technical aspects of Software industry.
Architecture degrees tend to be concentrated around design, which can account for approximately 50-50% of a student 's’ time, although it is dependent on the exact course as they differ at different universities. Alongside this aspect, students are able to take modules in the history and theory of architecture, as well as others focusing on the technologies of construction and building fabrication. Students may also have modules that introduce them into the professional practice of architecture.
