In the highly competitive business environment and for an organization to be sustainable and prosperous in its business industry, an organization must engage in strategic planning which will help to place an organization’s direction in doing its business. It is a process of analyzing and developing to move an organization or destination from its current competitive position to a more desirable future competitive situation.

The strategic planning process involves the evaluation of current performance result of the organization, scan and assess the strategic factors which are both external and internal environments. The external environment means the societal and task environment that the organization is currently in and the internal environment is the structure, culture, and resources of the organization. Then is the situational analysis or SWOT analysis to pinpiont the problems and core competencies of the organization. After that it is a time to consider whether the current goal, mission, and objectives are in the right direction or not. This process involves updating and designing goal and mission statement which identify where the organization wants to be in the future in term of long range planning and describe the purpose of the organization. Then is to specify objective in the specific, measurable, acceptable, realistic, and timely manner. With the revision of goal, mission, and objectives, the organization then generate the strategic alternatives of what the organization can do to exploit and enhance its core competencies with the underlying opportunities and what it can defend or react to those of threats or
