I have gone to Northwood High school for 4 years, and this year it has reached a record high for student population. Walking through the halls is the same as trying to struggle by to get somewhere on a sidewalk in New York City. There are the people who think walking slowly makes them cooler, and those are the people who bother me the most at Northwood. There are Freshman who believe they only have 30 seconds to get to class and end up running into people as they speed by. There are even students who just stand in the middle of the hallway talking rather than going to class. Oh! And don’t even get me started on the couples who make out. All of this contributes to the overpopulation and increasingly slower pace it takes to get to classes. Solutions are needed to improve the quality of the school and the people in it. One solution would be to build new buildings to make more classes and grow the size of the school with the population increase. Doing this would cost the school system money it doesn’t have, …show more content…
The seniors would stockpile weaponry and distribute it among the lower classes for the purge. The senior class would oversee the purge but not participate due to the fact that they would be leaving within a semester. The purge would begin promptly at 10pm, enough time for the students to wish their parents goodbye. The purge would continue until sunrise of the next morning. This survival of the fittest contest would solve the problem of overpopulation at Northwood. After the purge, the survivors would be granted pardon from future purges. As a senior, and long time student at Northwood, with a brother as an alumni of 2011, I feel that I know what is best for the school’s current issue. The administration doesn’t have to deal with the overpopulation, the study body does, so who better than the wisest students, the seniors. Then leaving the solution to fall into the hands of the senior
Lincoln High School, which is located in a low-income neighborhood in San Diego, was a rebuilt after 50 years of failing to educate children. Rebuilding the high school was the answer the community had been looking for they were hopeful. Before the rebuild most students who attended Lincoln did not meet the standards for their grade-level, few graduated and even fewer went go on to college. After years of suffering and neglect there was little doubt That Lincoln High School deserved the $129 million it received from the city to rebuild. But was rebuilding the school the solution for Lincoln High School 's education problem? First we’ll examine, How the problem started, the decision making steps and if the plan was successful.
Schools are over populated here, 40-50 pupils in one classroom, learning process is not easy. Because of that it is impossible for the teachers to pay attention to every student in the classroom and to get almost the same result, because of that many pupils just attending the classroom without any interest in studying or learning.
With over 200 school closing, it is causing classrooms to be too big and become oversized. Some classrooms are so oversized that students have to sit on the floor. The oversized classrooms affects the behaviors of the teaches. Such an environment brings upon stress the teachers of providing the need for every student and running around doing extra errands that the teachers are not paid to
The online article best value schools provide a view from a schools stance by informing the reader on issues schools face. The author points out the common issues. The more students the more money needed to support them and if a school wants to make money it will take as many as it can get (unknown). The schools also rely on government funding to help defray some of the
However, these minute problems can be fixed over time and with care. To do this, we must first start by addressing the fact that some teachers need an incentive to give more to their students. By not helping teachers out, it is highly likely that they will not give their all in order to educate students. As a result, students fall behind and can not help themselves through the system that was initially designed to weed out the weak. The education system as it is, makes it excruciatingly difficult for students to do well because they do not fit into what is required of them. Although this may be the case, the system is not broken, and in turn, it can be fixed by first addressing the fact that teachers are not as valued as they should be. Although some teachers make it their mission to educate their students, some have a hard time putting in more time than is required of them. In doing so, students cannot get extra help if they need it and eventually end up having a hard time passing. In order to fix the system, we must first deal with the small problems that could cause a large ripple if they are
There is an abundance of importance in the public school system. Most successful careers start with elementary, middle and high school education. So it is safe to say it is vital to maintain a major funding for all public school’s systems across the country. Of course funding isn’t the only broken piece of a perfect school system because not every school is in an appropriate environment. There are many factors that follow what type of funding each school gets and also how much. Many schools are placed in low income or areas in poverty, this causes students to have harder learning environments. The question is what would be a strategy to fix the gap in public school funding and where and how do you spend it? This could be solved by smart public school allocation, better pay structure for
In “Project Classroom Makeover” by Cathy Davidson, has many great ideas and facts about why should the school system should change. Although i may agree in some points as like the school system is working as a factory. I believe that changing some aspects like the way we learn things can and may keep the kids coming to school. For example, in my classes some of my classmates struggle the way the teacher teaches us so when they ask for my help i have tried different methods and it works. They start to understand instead of struggling but that’s because i didn’t choose to teach it the same way as the teacher. And with this experience i noticed that teaching the same way all the time won’t work students will be struggling because they learn in
They have to cut programs to save money for more important uses. Not many schools in our district still have an orchestra, band, and choir due to lack of funding. Schools are removing influential groups that could help students figure out their future plans and who they are. The building should not suffer either. Proper maintenance and care must be taken to create a safe and appealing learning environment. Most of these problems could be fixed by inducting a smarter budget. Activities and learning do not need to suffer any longer. It’s time to put an end to the money situations here at
High school hallways are the worst, most annoying places on the planet. First, many people in the hallways walk slower than a heard of snails traveling through peanut butter. Seriously, have you ever experienced anything more irritating than trying to get to class on time and the group ahead of you insists on poking around the halls as though they have nothing better to do? Another awful act that sluggards in the hallway commit is dragging along when the person behind them obviously has to use the bathroom as soon as possible! Second, people in the hallways struggle with walking on the right side of the passage. They exhibit this ignorant behavior when they walk against hallway traffic and don’t realize it because they are too preoccupied
In conclusion, schools need to come up with a way to enhance student to teacher associations, better security measures for students and schools that are financially responsible. If schools can agree on a way to make class life better for students we will see a significant increase in schools production. The system is corrupt and without a plan cannot be fixed. Schools need a base to start in order to make progress to
There is, however, one solution that works on its own and this is the tailoring of how we teach. In order to do this we have to cut the class room size, hire more teachers and a few specialists. If you apply this method, it will not only better educate our kids, but it will give them a better chance for success. Although this method would require a little extra effort I believe the children of Gadsden County are worth
The halls are so packed that when I'm looking down from up the stairs the school looks extremely. A fight can break out at any minute and the hallways are so packed that all the kids group up and sometimes it is very difficult to stop it. Going to Brentwood High School is literally crazy sometimes, to survive these halls I've learned to focus on getting class or find the easiest shortcuts, one of the best shortcuts is going from the outside of the school. It so much better, there isn't a lot kids around and you can get to class earlier because there isn't so many kids around, to survive Brentwood High School hallways I tell you all try to make your own everyday routines to get to class early or try to avoid smelling very bad orders. This school will continue to grow throughout the years and the hallways may just continue to become filled with more and more students who of course will eventually learn that, as they come for their sophomore year, the halls are there hang 5 minute hang out spot for them and their
Most of the other problems the schools face are directly related to the funding issue. Buildings are run down and sometimes mobile because of the lack of finances. No child wants to go to school in a dreary building that smells bad. It makes it hard to concentrate and hard to study in buildings such as this. Every school has some type of sport being played by the students. For some, sports are the only reason they do not drop out of school. However, if finances are not available then the school should focus mostly on the education of all of its students as a whole, not just a few who think they cannot make it without sports. Without the financial issues, schools have even more problems. School violence is becoming more and more common. School should be a place where children come to learn and be with their peers, in a very good environment. It should not be a place where children are afraid to go because of the anger or hurt of other children. This is probably the major issue of the public today.
Problems facing the public schools. The general satisfaction with the public schools should not cause one to lose sight of the fact that the public wants those schools improved. It would be logical for such improvement to focus on areas in which problems exist. Down through the years, the public has been consistent in the area which shows lack of discipline. Other points of either drug abuse, lack of financial support, or lack of discipline has topped the list. This year, lack of discipline is identified as the top problem. Fighting/violence/gangs follows at high on the list and lack of financial support/funding/money is also an issue. Teachers and classroom sizes are recognized as a ongoing problem in public education.
In today’s economic environment even the wealthiest states and districts are having to cut funding for education, while districts which were already teetering on the edge are now in an even worse position. In some schools children have to face not having enough books, paper for copies, severe overcrowding,
