The Supply Chain Management System used at Lowe’s is a collaboration process. According to LeRoy Allen, Senior Vice President of Logistics for Lowe's Companies, as cited by Real Results Magazine (2012), Lowe’s has more than 3,000 suppliers and having effective communication with all of them is difficult. Providing them with key information helps them, not only run their own business but assists Lowe’s in running theirs. This model was designed to efficiently run the supply chain together (para. 2).

After read the Part II of Collaboration in Theatre about working together to create musical theatre, I felt that I was overwhelmed by the charm of collaboration. To me, I considered that it was such a significant process not only to musical theatre creation but also to other disciplines and industries, including Supply Chain Management (SCM) – the specialty that I am majoring in.

Michael Stefanic, director of cost management at Owens & Minor (O&M), a medical and surgical supplies distributor and Daniel Borunda, material systems manager at Virginia Mason (VM) Medical Center came together to try to battle healthcare costs and improve the healthcare supply chain. Virginia Mason, a private non-profit healthcare organization based out of Seattle, offered both primary and specialized care and developed the Virginia Mason Production System (VMPS). The VMPS was a modified version of the Toyota Production System that helped VM work towards its goal of being a quality leader, emphasized line-level employee teamwork, and fought for a zero defect rate. The components of VMPS included value-stream mapping

Retail is a globalised industry, where products may be sourced and produced in one country, but sold in another. This requires collaboration of the different roles involved in the supply chain and alliances to be formed, in order for each of the different roles to complete their business objectives. The supply chain is the connections of movements, systems and businesses that work together to produce and sell a product. The suppliers and retailers, in particular, must go hand in hand if either of them are to succeed. It is with the help of the buyers and merchandisers, that the suppliers and retailers are able to connect and build up relationships.
The supply chain has evolved over the years. With new businesses that are on the rise in the competitive world it is important to stay on top. Different merchants create better deals that cause relationships between the suppliers and their customers to the end. I wanted to explore those relationships and research the history of the “supply chain”. I wanted to know how things were ran and how they are able to sustain business when the economy changes.

An effective performance-management system helps a company to ensure that any long-term project is on track and delivering the results it should. In supply chain collaboration efforts, both participants should use the same performance-management system. By building common metrics and targets—and jointly monitoring progress—companies avoid the misaligned incentives that damage so many collaboration efforts.
When a supply chain partnerships are formed between organisations it provides a level of stability and
In this economic climate that we find ourselves in at the present time organization is looking for a way to cut cost and save money, at the same time providing the best product that they can provide to their customers. In this highly competitive economic market place their seems to be some many choices for consumers to choose from that they have their pick of the market place. In order fro organizations to keep up with them they have to make sure that they always have the appropriate amount of inventory in stock or they could potentially loose customers to another competitor. This has caused organizations to start to look at their supply chain management network and evaluate how reliable it is and is it performing up to standard or are they loosing customers because their supply chain network is not being properly managed.
Along with demand management, effective communication and collaboration improve overall efficiency and production of the supply chain. Good communication ensures that all of the company’s team members are on the same page, this way each member can perform his or her duty on time and respond to a change in demand. Communication between members can act as an advantage, for example if a new product becomes available they can jump on it right away and get it on the market as fast as possible. Integration provides a different type of advantage than communication and collaboration because it helps to reduce costs. For instance, Wal-Mart calls upon their suppliers to share up-to-date information on demand to route their products to Wal-Mart’s warehouses, from there the products are shipped to the stores in need, with minimum time in inventory. This integration allows Wal-Mart’s to reduce costs significantly, enabling them to offer customers highly competitive pricing.
The supply chain indicates the supply and demand network made up of the raw materials suppliers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and the ultimate consumers (ARNDT, 2004). The supply chain management is the vital concept in the modern management. In the supply chain management, the supply chain integration is just an important management model. The supply chain integration just realizes higher value and competitive advantages of the whole supply chain through coordinating the businesses process and cooperating within the organization and among the different organizations (LEE, 2000). It does not only facilitate the coordination of the business processes in the supply chain, but
