In today’s day and age, I believe obesity is the primary health problem in the United States. Obesity affects every state, city, community and school across the nation. According to the CDC, nearly one third (36%) of American are obese and one in five school aged children (6-19) are obese.
Obesity is a complex disorder involving an excessive amount of body fat. Obesity is caused by inactivity, unhealthy diet and eating habits. When one takes in more calories than one burns through exercise or normal daily activities, your body stores the excess calories as fat. Weight gain is inevitable when diets consist of high calories and are full of processed foods and high-calorie beverages. An average American consumes

Implementing a tax strategy to lower consumption of food and beverages that serve minimal nutritional value, such as fast food and sugary beverages such as carbonated soda and juices. The government should develop media campaigns, using radio, internet, television, and social media to promote exercise and healthy eating using consistent and positive messages. Planning, building, and maintaining more sidewalks, trails, parks and playgrounds that are safe and attractive for playing. Schools should and need to have physical education classes and school cafeterias should have strict rules on what should be served to children.
There are several ways in which the food industry could help the consumer make healthy food choices. Food manufacturers/industry should be committed to providing clear, consistent, and honest product claims, as well as working with retailers and restaurants to offer consumers correct information about the products they are purchasing. The food industry should promote nutrition education and boost nutrition awareness at the consumer level. The food industry can create new products that meet nutritional needs, revise existing products to be healthier (limit levels of saturated fats, trans fat, limit sugar, and salt) and provide controlled portion sizes. With this, the industry can develop healthier
Unhealthy eating habits have contributed to the obesity problem in the United States. About one third of U.S. adults are obese and 17% of children of ages 2-19 years old are obese. Even people
Close to over one-third of adults living in the United States are obese (Diet and Obesity). Unfortunately, one third of children in the United States are also obese or overweight. Obesity has grown throughout the United States and has led to major health problem and can even be fatal. About 365,000 or more people die every year due to obesity. With numbers increasing obesity should be furthered examined to help prevent these conditions in Americans. The government should take more vigorous roles in fighting obesity to help lower child obesity, reduce health care cost, and improve eating habits in America.
Obesity basically means having too much body fat. Not being overweight for your height, having too much muscle, or water in your body. What exactly is obesity? “Obesity is a condition that is associated with having an excess of body fat, defined by genetic and environmental factors that are difficult to control when dieting. Obesity is classified as having a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or greater. BMI is a tool used to measure obesity. Obesity increases your risk of developing related conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and sleep apnea, to name a few. Many individuals are affected by obesity and are not aware of it” (O.A.C, 2016). Causes of obesity vary from person to person, but most are from the same reasons. Taking in more calories than your body can burn leads to obesity because your body stores the unused calories as fat. Typical causes are eating too much food than your body can use, drinking too much alcohol, and not getting enough exercise. Many obese people who lose large amounts of weight and gain it back think it is their fault. They blame themselves for not having the willpower to keep the weight off. Many people regain more weight than they lost. Today, we know that biology is a big reason why some people cannot keep the weight off. Some people who live in the same place and eat the same foods become obese, while others do not. Our bodies have a complex system to help keep our
Obesity is a growing threat to public health in the World and in the United States. Since 1960, the prevalence of obesity increased twice in the United States. According to a latest report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on November 11, 2015 obesity rates among U.S. adults increased from 30 % in 2003 to 36.5 % in 2011-2014. The estimated annual health care costs of obesity-related illness is approximately $190 billion or nearly 21% of annual medical spending in the United States. Obesity can lead to other illnesses from chronic to acute, some very severe and deadly, such as diabetes, heart diseases, stroke, and even cancer. Obesity decreases life expectancy, quality of life and productivity.
In the United States, obesity has become a big problem. In the last 30 years the number of people overweight has increased dramatically. As results done by the Centers of Disease Control showed that since 1980, one third of our adult population has become overweight (Fat).

Obesity is anabnormal accumulation of body fat, usually 20% or more over an individual 's ideal body weight. Obesity is associated with increased risk of illness, disability, and death. National Health recommends 2000 kcal per day; of course it varies by people 's physical engagement activity. Nowadays there are loads of statistics which show that the substantial cause of obesity is not extensive intake of food, but lack of exercises and intake of fatty and sugary food. For instance, 30 years ago people used to eat more than today, yet they were more physically active and they ingested more quality food.
Obesity in the United State has increasingly been cited as major health issue. Findings from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey show that the proportion of adults who are obese has more than doubled from 15% in 1971–1974 to 34% In 2003–2006 for adults 20-74 years. In 1990, obese adults made up less than 15 percent of the population in most US states however by the year 2010 , 36 states had obesity rates of 25 percent or higher and 12 of those states had obesity of 30 percent or higher (CDCP 2012).
Obesity, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is a health condition where weight is higher than what is considered healthy for a given height. In 2017, the CDC reported that more than one-third, 36.5 percent, of American adults and 12.7 million children and adolescents are affected by obesity (CDC, 2017). What is even more important is that overweight and obesity are responsible for conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and certain cancers which can cause preventable death. In addition to health outcomes, the financial medical burden of obesity in America in most recent studies was reported to be $147 billion (CDC, 2017). Obesity is not an epidemic that has occurred suddenly.
Obesity is one of The most common problems in medicals. Obesity is one of the nations biggest problems. Out of all the causes of obesity, lack of exercise is the biggest cause. Lots of Americans don’t get out and get enough exercise, leading them to obesity. Exercise is one of the best things to do for your body, only if you like to keep your body in shape. Another cause of obesity is eating too much food for your body digests. If you take more energy in than out you start to gain weight over time
