Famous brands is a large company that is currently trading on the JSE, this multinational company decided to acquire Milky lane as one of its subsidiaries on the 21st of March 2011, although the franchise has been around since 1958. Milky Lane was previously owned by Java Brands and is South Africa’s oldest franchising brand and a market leader in the retail ice cream sector. Milky Lane attracts a broad consumer base and is continuously changing to cater for the population's needs. Threats:
 The new competitor directly across from the Milky Lane at Forest Hill City Mall is Smooch, a frozen yoghurt bar which is attracting potential customers and is bad for business.
 The increasing petrol prices mean that the amount of possible customers decrease because people do not want to travel more than 20 kilometres to buy ice cream, therefore sales decrease which hamper productivity.
 The changes in legislation, particularly referring to the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act (BBBEE) which is helping redress the faults of the apartheid government may mean that Milky Lane has to promote a person to a management position based on colour rather than education or experience which may significantly impact the subsidiary negatively because if the leadership of one branch starts to deteriorate, the company image is tarnished.
 Our workforce does not only consist of South African employees, (Jalloh, 2015).
