Taking a Look at Welding

Education is required to have to get a welding job. Welding takes a lot of training and skill. Some companies provide a program that people can take. People help others that r needing help on a project that is taking a while. Some people can use a full-time program to weld on bigger things like bridges. People had to pass the tests that are provided by the industries there in.

Welding is a process used to join metal parts by producing a coalescence, called a weld, at a joint. Advances in welding technology have opened the way for innovative designs in structures and machinery. Of modern welding processes, the greatest number fall under the general classifications of arc welding, gas welding and cutting, resistance welding, and brazing.

Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding is the process of blending together reactive metals such as magnesium and aluminum. The TIG welding method became popular and useful in the early 1940s and, as a result, has greatly propelled the use of aluminum for welding and structural processes. TIG welding is commonly used for both high quality and manual welding.

Although there are many career choices out there in the world I would love to be in the career in welding for multiple reasons. I chose this career because i love the fact that there's multiple different types of welding positions, and it's a great trade to meet new people and work hard in.i decided on this career because i have had experienced with some welding and i enjoyed it. i even researched some different techniques you can use to weld different types of metal. There are specific personality types or skills required for this career. some are interpersonal skills such as being self motivated. Forge welding comes under the category of solid state welding process used to join two pieces of metal by heating them to higher temperatures and hammering it forcefully. Forge welding process is one of the simplest methods of welding metals. It has been in use since ancient times. Forge welding can be used to join combinations of like and unlike metals.

Welding is the process of joining pieces of metal or other parts by heating the surfaces to the point of melting using a blow torch, electric arc, or other means. This careers demand has skyrocketed in recent years. According to Tri-County Technical College, welding is ranked as one of the top ten fastest growing career fields in South Carolina by the US Department of Labor (“Welding Associate's Degree”). Welding is a very meticulous career, to be a welder you have to be focused, careful and you have to have an extensive knowledge of the field to be successful. Welding requires a variety of skill sets. If a person has a variety of skills and experience doors will open up for positions such as: shipbuilding, automotive repair, and construction.

Gas metal arc welding, or most commonly referred to as MIG welding is a very common and sometimes preferred method of welding. Gas metal arc is personally one of the easiest and controllable welding types there is.

Robins Williams, once said “Most of all, I want to thank my father, up there, the man who when I said I wanted to be an actor, he said, 'Wonderful. Just have a back-up profession like welding.” I have chosen the field of welding, because I meet some of the characteristics that welders have, and my biggest influence, Ms. Bosma, told me that it would be a good profession to get into.

To become a welder, there are certain job tasks, special skills and talents as well as a higher education that is needed. For example the job tasks are to operate safely with safe work habits. Also you have to know the welding components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. You have to Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to welding trade. You need to have knowledge for becoming a welder and some of that is design, knowledge of design techniques. Also you need to know mathematics, knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. Now the education you need to be a welder is u need to have a high school diploma. You also need to pass a base welding test, you need to graduate from a tech school in welding. Forty One percent of people have a post secondary certificate awarded for training complete after high school. Forty percent have high school diploma, therteen percent have some college- no degree. You need to lean to heat and shape metal and need a associate of science in welding. You can also work up to forty hours a week. Some education vary by employer.

If you want to be a welder, and actually have a career, you can go to a welding school and learn how to weld, or you can try to be a welders helper and just learn the trade. Welding can be a tough job if you don’t know what you are doing or you do not enjoy doing it. Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials together (Modern Welding). This is the process that uses fuel gases and oxygen to make a molten pool of metal to fuse together two pieces of metal, called puddeling (oxy-fuel welding and cutting. Wikipedia). If you decide to weld as your profession, most welding school students have little trouble finding jobs and finding people certified to weld correctly (Welding.Wikipedia).

The career that I am interested in is a pipeline welder. Welders, cutters, solders, and brazers use hand-held or remotely controlled equipment to join or cut metal parts. They also fill holes’ indentations, or seams of metal products (BLS.gov). Pipeline welders also known as pipe welder join and repair tubular products and metallic pipe component’s (Monster.co.uk). The education and or training you need to become a welder or a pipeline welder is your high school diploma or equivalent combined with technical and on the job training is typically required to become a welder. There are a lot of opportunities for advancement you can become an Arc Welder, Iron Worker, Gas Welder, Assembler Welder and others there’s a lot of opportunities to choose

The majority of all the products are made from two or more components that need to be joined together. Abstract: Friction stir welding (FSW) process is a new solid-state joining technique that is widely adopted in manufacturing and many fields for joining different metallic alloys which are difficult to weld by using conventional type such as fusion welding for metals which has lower melting point. The aluminium alloys are considered because they have successfully contributed in meeting the rising demand for lightweight structures .The major parameters considered for Friction Stir Welding process for dissimilar aluminium alloys are tool Rotational Speed, Traverse speed of tool, Axial load, Tool tilt and plunge depth. This paper provides the overview of change in microstructural and mechanical properties of dissimilar aluminium alloys based on considering various welding parameters.
