Taking a Look at the Cold War

The Cold War was a time when the U.S had many conflicts with the USSR that could have caused multiple problems worldwide. World War II had just ended in 1945. The Cold War Started almost immediately after WWII. The Soviet Union had finished the war with a bad economy and wanted to spread Communism to the world. Due to the Soviet Union wanting the spread of communism it also caused the Korean war had separated Korea into two sides from 1950-1953. (Millett, Allan R.) Then the Space Race that happened made both the U.S and USSR competitive for achievements in space. (Trustees of the Royal Air Force Museum) and the Cuban Missile Crisis that almost caused a nuclear war.(The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica) In 1947 after WWII that involved whole the world, a conflict arose between the U.S and the Soviet Union about world leadership. Many conflicts and compromises have happened in the war for example The Space Race, the Korean War, and the Cuban Missile Crisis, and SALT.

Consisting of 44 years of violence and civil unrest from 1947 to 1991, the Cold War was a huge turning-point in history. The Cold War however was a war of avoidance, not combat. Defence systems were heavily funded as deterrence to actual war, the belief being a risk of mutual annihilation would be too great to be the side to make the first move. However, the Cold War caused a large variety of conflict and civil unrest around the world, such as the Korean War, Vietnam War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. During the Cold War the powers of the Eastern and Western Bloc were states of tension after World War II. The war between the United States and the Soviet Union had lasted about half of the second century where there were many stages to finish this war. There are several documents and speeches that help explain and support what had occurred during the Cold War. It had brought heightened tensions and a series of international incidents that brought the world’s superpowers to the brink of disaster. The Cold War brought many effect around the world such as economic depression, divisions, and fear.

The Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union took place after the World War II until the early 1990s. Both the United States and the Soviet Union were at the Cold War which employed nuclear arms race, space programs development race, weapons developments, counter-intelligence, military alliances, and propaganda. This Cold War made the world fear for the possible World War III. Ally nations for both sides were divided into either the democratic or the communism which were either on the United States side or the Soviet Union’s side. This Cold War was a political and strategic method to gain strategic territories for the military purpose and also for the economic gains.

The Cold War was a significant time for the United States and the Soviet Union, while the rest of the world watched intently. Although no actual war took place, both of these powerful countries did their best to promote their political and ideological ideas while trying to gain some ground in the seemingly never ending arms race. This war was driven by both fear and the strive to become the strongest and most powerful country. During the time of the Cold War, the United States proved to be a strong influence over Canada. Given its location, it was obvious as to which side Canada was on. While Canada believed in the same ideologies as the US, this nation was still reluctant to fully emerge themselves into the hysteria that had been emerging in the US. However, even though Canada had just received world recognition for its contribution during the Second World War, this large yet acutely populated country had much still to prove. During this time, Canada just recently became a founding member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). But while Canada was making huge steps in their peacekeeping and military growth, there were still rumours of espionage circling the country.

In this paper I will discuss what actions and thoughts added up to cause the cold war. The cold war lasted from September 1, 1945 to about December 25, 1991. That is about forty-five years, which is an extremely long time. The cold war was a global competition basically between two sides, the Free World, which was led by the United States of America, and the Communist World led by the Soviet Union. The struggle took place through indirect military conflict, and direct competition in the areas of economics, diplomacy, culture, space exploration, and political theory. Prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor and United State’s involvement in World War II, we remained an isolationist country. Once World War II ended, the United States left isolationism behind and began a quest to abolish communism during the Cold War, involving many nations. Although the success of the containment policy in South America and Asia was not identical, each were beneficial in decreasing communism during the Cold War.

A multidisciplinary approach involves drawing appropriately from numerous disciplines to redefine problems outside of normal boundaries. This essay argues that in comparison to single disciplinary perspective, multidisciplinary approach attempts to generate collective knowledge through taking equal account of all stakeholders, thus offer a more complex and complete understanding of the research topic. I will discuss this claim by using climate change and the cause of end of the Cold War as two examples. Experts from different social science disciplines can offer a holistic and multidimensional understanding of social phenomenon, whereas scholars from a single discipline would fail to evaluate all aspects of the problem. For example, some historians attribute the end of the Cold War to the personalities and policies of the two leaders involved in the process: General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev and President Ronald Reagan.

The Cold War was a geopolitical, ideological, and economic struggle mainly between the two superpowers, The United States of America and the USSR. Although the USSR and US were the two superpowers that initiated the conflict, other countries such as Vietnam, North and South Korea, and Cuba had major involvement in the Cold War. The US was a capitalist country while the USSR was a communist country. There are many reasons, that when combined caused the Cold War to start. Some of the most important reasons were the fear of the USSR’s expansion of communism into Eastern Europe

The Cold War was a very scary and very horrible time between two countries after post war and each side was a very strong and had a lot of power:the USA and the USSA .At that time when everything was in tense there were some things,which they wanted to increase pulses between both the East and West but none of them where affect weapons of mass distractions was involved.

It is called the Cold War due to there being no actual fighting between the two sides, it was fought using other more secretive methods. There were multiple reasons as to why this war developed, this paper will be discussing the three main ones. The Cold War developed between the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialists Republic because of the disagreement of NATO and other countries on how the USSR as well as the German governments should be run; the threat of communism spreading across the western hemisphere; and these same nations disagreeing on the process of rebuilding after World War 2.
