Technology And Its Impact On The Classroom And The Individual Learner And Pay Essay

Technology in the school has become an increasingly challenging and somewhat disruptive aspect in today’s educational system. In order to maintain what is considered the status quo, schools have focused their energy and resources on banning cell phones, wireless Internet and blocking social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter in schools. However, as technology continues to grow in our society outside of the school, many believe that effectively involving these technologies into the classroom can ultimately improve student engagement in their learning environments. This research paper will focus on both sides of the argument and ultimately seek to determine if there is a best practice regarding technological being put into schools.

Technology in the classroom is important for teachers, parents, and students alike, because technology use has become a necessary skill for survival in today’s vastly expanding technology driven global economy. Research has shown an increase in student’s success rates when exposed to technology in the classroom. Also technology has opened lines of communication between educators and parents to keep students on track, and help teachers educate better.

Over the last decade technology has become increasingly integrated into school systems. As this happens school have to weigh many factors and make a choice about the level of technology to integrate. Factors such as cost, the values of these tools, and how children (and adults) are impacted by this bombardment of information all play a role as important factors in this progress. First of all, cost is referring to what us given up with the lack of traditional textbooks. A technology-focused environment risks giving up the benefits of physical sources.

Today’s education differs much from the education fifty years ago. One of the reasons they are so different is because of technology. In the past fifty years the world of technology has grown tremendously, affecting everything, including education. A few things that have been brought into the world of education are computers, video and digital equipment such as DVDs, digital cameras and recording devices. The technology also includes information presentation technologies which includes the Smart Board, and different interactive whiteboards. There are many more that schools did not have fifty years ago.

To help improve academics at Jackson High School, the district should provide more technology in the classrooms. We should get iPads in every classroom that we have. We should also be able to use our cell phones. Technology has increased over the years and our school district should be up to date on its tools. There are several reasons for why we should get these devices in our classrooms.

The use of technology in schools has a great effect on not only students, but teachers as well. Today, we mostly think of technology as computers, but it is much more than that. In fact, one of the first technologies used in the classroom was the chalkboard.

As we navigate through the 21st century, technology in the classroom is becoming further predominant. iPads are replacing our textbooks, and we can research any desired topic on our smartphones. According to a study by IT Trade Association CompTIA, around 75 percent of educators have come to the conclusion that technology has a positive impact on the education process. Educators have also recognized the significance of developing these technological skills in students so they will be prepared to enter the workforce after they graduate (Cox). There is much in the literature regarding the use of technology in education. According to Dede (2009), Banister (2010), Peled and Schocken (2014), my topic can be characterized as technology in education is an effective tool for motivating student engagement, increasing academic success, and providing new environments for students to learn. Thus, the more technology that is incorporated in a students’ earlier grades, the more inclined they will be to prefer that type of instruction in their latter years. It is an important topic with respect to education because the wave of new technology is increasing at rate never before seen in the field of education. These articles track the study of technology use in the field, and how they are beneficial for my study of technology in education. All of the articles support the idea of the use of technology in education, and each represent a different aspect in which technology can improve a child’s education.

Technology affects every aspect of our lives. From romance to business, it has shown its presence everywhere. But technology has had a huge impact on education that cannot be denied, and has done nothing but improve the quality and quantity of education.

For 21st century educators, the use of technology in the classroom has no longer become an option, but a requirement. As the student bodies being taught continue to change, so do their educational needs. In order to provide the best practices of technology integration in the classroom, teachers must incorporate multiple strategies, follow new trends, and utilize the strategies that they are the most comfortable with. Even though the use new technology may be somewhat intimidating for some teachers, it can also be used as a tool to bridge the gap between generations of students.

There is a growing trend in the use of technology in the classroom. As a teacher, I am always looking for ways to use manipulatives in my lessons to increase meaning and authenticity for students. I would love to keep my students engaged, motivated and interactive in the classroom and still be able to get through the content each day. In order to achieve this, I need to have an arsenal of tools to draw from. That is why I agree with (Tataroglu & Erduran, 2010) as stated in the International Electronic Journal of Elementary Education (IEJEE) that “The use of technologies like IWBs in the classroom can provide teachers and students convenience and variety. “

Thus, many people think digital technology and education has connected with each other. They believe that the school is making students learning and spreading the knowledge of society, and digital technology is "providing skills for students to be better understand the theory idea, information, and intelligent behaviour" (Woolf, Lane, Chaudhri and Lolodner, 2013). Digital technology also could help the teacher to develop the personalized educational programs for individuals or groups of students, and even help students use a range of learning styles and methods. Thus, in this essay, I will discuss the problems and the role of digital technology in education, and find some ideas could help the school in the future through digital technology.
