I hypothesize the students in this study will perform well academically by using technology. Since there are mixed emotions about students using technology, I will also hypothesize that students will show positive behavior with how they perform during this process. The great use of technology and what it has to offer will maximize student behavior properly and show motivation while working on the assignment that will be given. In order to make this happen, teachers will be handing out laptops to each student who is involved in this study. The students will be given an assignment and will be asked to create a presentation of their choice by using Prezi. This will show the time and effort they put into this to make the presentation successful just by taking advantage of the tools and resources that technology has to offer. I hypothesize that each student will do academically well and overcome their struggles that they have as diverse learners. After this observation, students will then be given a survey. Student voices matter during this process and this determine how they feel about technology being more involved with their education. H0: Students show no difference with how they perform academically with or without technology usage. During this study, the null has been rejected. There is no statistical significance between the two variables in this hypothesis. The independent variable of this hypothesis is the time each student used to determine whether or not
students’ success and their attitudes towards lessons” (Eyyam). This viewpoint states that the world believes that technology can further our education in school with proper use of it. Although the technology could be an extremely easy thing to abuse in the academic facility, with proper use of technology, the future of the classrooms will be greatly affected. Furthermore, technology will be in a majority of modernized middle school classrooms around the world. Modern-day technology consists of devices such as laptops and computers to type papers and directly communicate with the teacher, mobile devices to have access to papers anywhere and anytime, and a screen that every student can interact with such as a SmartBoard. Technology has a lot of beneficial features, yet not as many detriments to it. Many examples will be arguing the fact that technology is going to be a big step into the future for many academic classrooms, but some may differ in a majority of ways. This has been a debate that has been going around for some time now. In addition to this debate happening there has been a lot of experiments to prove the side that advanced technology in schools is exceedingly beneficial.
Now in today world technology has taken over everything and it surrounds our everyday life. I have four children who love to be on technology from laptops to phones. I and my husband have experienced a lot when it comes to our children and technology they cry cant have it. For examples we face them not wanting to go to bed at night, saying bad things, bad behavior off youtube. Monitoring toddlers and technology our family has experienced the developmental delay, bad words, and not wanting to interact with people. My son has an Xbox and a phone. He will stay on the phone to watch Jake Paul and WWE Smackdown. We were in the car, and he was listening to Jake Paul music it had a lot of bad words in the song. I said son you know I don’t let you listen to that music. He said mom Jake Paul is a Disney star I said I don’t care who he is don’t want you listening to that music anymore. So use as parents have to monitor our children technology and what they're watching. I check his phone every day and it has a parental lock on youtube so he can’t listen to bad word song.I don’t allow him to play games on the Xbox that has violence or bad words in the game. I can’t allow technology to take over my son life. However, he also got in a place where he was caught up into too much technology that he didn’t want to interact with people or family. His godmother can speak to him and he acts like he doesn't hear her or always in a bad mood. All he wants to do is play video games and play on
If students do not use technology in high school, they don’t learn the proper way to handle technology. When students go to college, they will miss important things like notes and lectures because they are too busy trying to pull
at. 2014). they used 332 students to participant in this study took surveys on whether or not they though technology in the class room hindered their learning abilities . Some said they thought that laptops helped them because they could type their notes faster and have in all organized in one place so they could just find it easily later on . While others in the survey said that they prefer paper and pencil because they felt they got to distracted by things like twitter, Facebook, and histogram while on the computers.. The results were fairly distributed among the people and there thoughts on technology and has helped the study form more design and assessment of technology-rich learning environments and develop more programs involving technology use in their teaching.(Gebre, E el. at.
We all know technology is a good thing, right? Or is it? We can all come up with reasons why technology is helpful or appropriate like we can for a particular medicine. And while some drugs are really great to cure or prevent a disease, sometimes the side effects outweigh any possible benefit. The same is true with technology. Some common negative side effects of technology are kids playing on their phones instead of going outside to play or young people not interacting face-to-face as much as they used to. Parenting is an area that has suffered since the rise in technology, specifically with phone use.
Not every student is comfortable with technology, and many do not have an interest in it beyond using their smartphones to text, watching videos on YouTube, or playing games. Furthermore, it is rather assuming to think
These past few years technology has grown rapidly in fact we now have technology in our hands that can search, send, and receive information along with numerous other functions; don't forget the laptop that can do everything a computer can do just smaller and portable. Technology has been great for our education because now a student can search for anything he or she has a question on and find an answer rather quickly unlike our older generation that went to a library and find a book to search for answers. Past technology in education was great but now it has reached a time where students are being given too much freedom with phones and laptops in class and our educational system is not seeing the increase in knowledge that was expected. A research project was done where two widely reported studies one from Winona state and one from Cornell university “students using laptops in class remember lectures poorly and miss understand course material. Their ability to focus even on course related Internet searches is weaker than that of students who are not digitally connected during class” (Nettleton 2). Now people can see how technology has its drawbacks and we need to know if it is beneficial or not to have technology in the classroom and should it continue to be a part of the educational system.
Technology can help students in all areas of study. Students need to be able to use this technology since, “Currently and in the near future, it is understood that students need to acquire more autonomous skills of ‘information gathering, analysis, and display’” (Todnem, 2004, p. 1). Furthermore, the use of technology, mainly the internet, provides for variation since “Students find themselves bored and burnt-out of the lecture format to classes, so changing the curriculum and instruction to include things like online assignments and educational videogames can be one clear remedy” (Todnem, 2004, p. 1). Teachers who have implemented technology into their classrooms have noticed changes in their students. The most common of these effects being an increase in motivation. In “Effects of Technology on Classrooms and Students” another positive effect is given “technology effect stressed by many teachers was enhancement of student self esteem” (“Effects,” 2004, p. 2).
Over the last decade technology has become such an important aspect in life. The push towards having technology in your hands at all times has made its way into the classroom also. This clearly started with the use of a computer and being able to find what you want quickly instead of having to go through a very large library to find one important sentence to use for your essay. Laptops, tablets, smart devices, projectors, and many more devices biggest advancement helping students in the classroom because of what it is capable of doing. Most mainstream students are now being provided with these sorts of devices to use during and even to take home. These improvements of technology are not only helping mainstream students in the classroom but
Have you ever imagine yourself, not using any kind of technology for the whole day ? Everywhere you go, you see people all around you using their technology for many reasons. Sam, a young student who grow up in a world with development of technology , used his technology 24/7 a day. On the other hand, his parents grow up without using that much technology for their daily life and also not in their classrooms. His parents had a hard time understanding if technology was a successful object in his future lifestyle and his education. Problems like this, are being faced by thousands of families everyday in this nation. Does the technology affect students with their learning ? How does technology help humans in their daily lifestyle ? In Order to answer those questions, we have to investigate the situation and find out what the solutions are to solving the problem. I tend to persuade the
The use of technology is particularly popular in almost every school in the United States. A common issue found in the education system nowadays is how much technology students use for their schoolwork. Millions of students use electronic components such as the computer, tablet, and phones to complete their assignments and communicate with other students about school projects and such. There are many pros and cons to this issue but there are mostly negative effects to it. In the education system, the use of technology should be limited for the students because it will decrease the dependency individuals have of the internet to help with their work, there will be an increase in their social skills, and students will not be lazy with everything they do.
With the technology that is available today, children in this time period are grasping more information at an earlier age than past generations. The possibilities that are being developed are limitless for the coming years. Today’s technology is entirely beneficial for children when used appropriately inside and outside the classroom. Technology is transforming how we learn today, starting with early childhood education. There are appropriate uses of media interaction and technology in childhood education such as enhancing their knowledge of digital literacy, to introduce different parts of the world and broaden social interactions for the next era.
The new technology improved the school attendance of students. The technology use also helps students participate. In schools all over the world they are using a lot more technology nowadays and it's improving their learning experience. More kids are getting good grades and less are failing “Supporters of laptops in schools argue that they help bridge the so-called "digital divide" that separates students who have computers and high-speed Internet access from those who do not. Laptops make students' research projects easier and make schoolwork generally more engaging, they add.” This quote supports perspective one because it explains some of the ways that technology helps kids in school. Technology makes it easier for kids to get engaged in learning and prepared for later in life.
Technology has been in the world for decades. Whereas, the more technology improves, the more people are relying on using it. For example, one of these ways is introducing technology to the school system. As the graph below shows how teachers used technologies in the classroom. Granted that, by the next academic year, mobile devices will be available for 1-to-1 computing for half the K-12 student and teacher population in the United States, according to Futuresource Consulting Ltd., a research and forecasting company based in the United Kingdom. In fact, by calendar year 2016, 54 percent of students and teachers will have access to a school-issued personal computing device, the study projects. (Molnar) Therefore, having technology in schools has many different positive and negative benefits to student’s performance in the classroom. Nowadays, students no longer have to carry around their books because of technology. Moreover, books can now be downloaded straight to a computer or tablet device. In particular, all the information that needed for the class will be all in one place for the student to use. For instance, in the past teachers used books, chalkboard, and worksheets in the classroom. In contrast to the present where technology is mainly used. Nowadays, school start introducing technology to kids when they first start kindergarten. Presently, kids are using laptops, iPad, and tablets in the classroom and for their homework assignment. However, technology in the
The researchers set out to answer two big questions: What effect does educational technology have on student achievement, and what is the attitude students have towards the educational technology?
