For this study, researchers looked to see what the direct correlation of technology was to enhanced academic achievement and positive attitude towards learning and school in general. The researchers believe that in order to succeed in the global community, technological literacy is of utmost importance. Another potential advantage pointed out by the researchers is that when technology is utilized in the classroom, there is immediately a broader view into the world that is brought straight to the students in the classroom that is not accessible my textbook alone. The researchers believe that to successfully prepare students to succeed in the world, showing them how to use technology and is invaluable. For the purposes of this article, the researchers define educational technology as tangible tools such as computers, smartboards, and overheads, and other technologies such as methods, techniques, and activities.
The researchers set out to answer two big questions: What effect does educational technology have on student achievement, and what is the attitude students have towards the educational technology?
The researchers studied all 7th grade math classes in a private school in Cyprus, divided into 3 experimental groups and 2 control groups, 41 students received the experiment and 41 students did not. The experiment was measured using a pre-test and a post-test for all classes, both those who did use instructional technology and those who used “traditional” methods. All the
In this day and age, it appears students and technology go hand in hand. Despite being a controversial conversation, teachers and other andminstators are searching tonintergrate computers and othe technological devices into schools. Nevertheless, in order to efficently develop students into successful thinkers, technology will only be practical if used to enhance learning, not control leaning.
Modern technology has penetrated every aspect of our lives and made great impacts on our daily activities, especially in the area of education. The continuous infusion of technology in education has become an unchangeable tendency. Given the increased use of technology in education, much research has been done on the value of technology in education. However, none of the studies have answered all of the questions that are essential to determining whether continuous infusion of new technologies in education can improve the quality of education. Since a clear answer to this question is vital to help educational organizations to make decisions on how much
Technology in the classroom is important for teachers, parents, and students alike, because technology use has become a necessary skill for survival in today’s vastly expanding technology driven global economy. Research has shown an increase in student’s success rates when exposed to technology in the classroom. Also technology has opened lines of communication between educators and parents to keep students on track, and help teachers educate better.

Technology can help students in all areas of study. Students need to be able to use this technology since, “Currently and in the near future, it is understood that students need to acquire more autonomous skills of ‘information gathering, analysis, and display’” (Todnem, 2004, p. 1). Furthermore, the use of technology, mainly the internet, provides for variation since “Students find themselves bored and burnt-out of the lecture format to classes, so changing the curriculum and instruction to include things like online assignments and educational videogames can be one clear remedy” (Todnem, 2004, p. 1). Teachers who have implemented technology into their classrooms have noticed changes in their students. The most common of these effects being an increase in motivation. In “Effects of Technology on Classrooms and Students” another positive effect is given “technology effect stressed by many teachers was enhancement of student self esteem” (“Effects,” 2004, p. 2).
Greer (2008) believed successful implementation of technology provided students competitive advantages regarding academic performance and also provided teachers with opportunities to create prescriptive and engaging lessons within an interactive educational environment. ChanLin (2007) found classroom instruction integrated with technology, as opposed to more traditional instructional methods, increased overall student achievement. Wellburn (1996) conducted an extensive review of quantitative research studies about educational technology and effects on student achievement. She found that the majority of studies showed technology’s positive impact on student learning, including increased achievement on standardized test. Wellburn concluded “the use of technology as a learning tool can make a measurable difference in student achievement” (p.6).
As we navigate through the 21st century, technology in the classroom is becoming further predominant. iPads are replacing our textbooks, and we can research any desired topic on our smartphones. The impact that technology has had on today’s schools has been utterly momentous. Educators have now seen firsthand the numerous benefits of technology in the classroom. According to a study by IT Trade Association CompTIA, around 75 percent of educators have come to the conclusion that technology has a positive impact on the education process. Educators have also recognized the significance of developing these technological skills in students so they will be prepared to enter the workforce after they graduate (Cox). By incorporating technology in the classroom, teachers are setting our students up for a successful life outside of school. The increase of technology has even changed how teachers teach along with how
In current times, technology has become such a big part of life, and most people would not be able to live without it. It has become very prevalent in education today, but technology appears to be more detrimental than beneficial. It has become the world’s main focus of the educational system, and although it has been useful to have, the disadvantages should not be ignored. Technology has clearly made an impact on society and education, but an inadequate amount of evidence has surfaced to justify that it is helping students and the community. Because of the technological advances in education, students’ learning is hindered because they have become accustomed to relying on it, and the learning environment is limited to fancy, expensive technology.
When it comes to the topic of technology in schools, most of us will readily agree that the internet is hard to stay away from. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of its necessity in school through devices. Whereas some are convinced that technology is beneficial in the education of the future generations, others maintain that it debilitates them instead. Although internet access is important in today’s world, there are several important factors to consider before incorporating it into an educational setting.
This paper explores the adding of technology in schools and effects it has on students. The purpose of the research was to reveal that the positives of adding technology outweigh the negative. Technology has the power to enhance the learning for students and overall create a better learning for everyone. By showing examples of schools that have already implemented technology in the classroom and the positive results that came with it. As well as the negatives and worries many people have with technology, and how to avoid it. Overall the research has shown that students have a better time learning with the adding of technology and the negatives of technology can be easily avoided.
This paper explores four published articles that analyze on the effects of classroom technology and its relationship with students’ behaviors and learning achievements. The articles, however, have different statements toward the impacts of classroom technology, either positive or negative. Alaeddine, Parsaei, Kakosimos, Bing, and Mansoor (2015) assert that the classroom technology has a positive impact on both the students’ learning process and the teachers’ willingness on innovative knowledge. Also, Sarder (2014) adds that a unique combination of the online courses’ tools can arouse students’ interests. However, Muir-Herzig (2004) states that the use of technology in the classroom has no critical influence on students’ grades and participation. Moreover, the barrier to integrating technology into classrooms is a vital obstacle currently, according to Wachira and Keengwe (2010). This paper examines all four research papers mentioned above to suggest that whether the classroom technology can produce a positive impact on education depends on the integrating process. It is claimed that an appropriate way to integrate the classroom technology is the essential part of the students’ learning process.
One of the greatest advantages of technology is to prepare the learners for the future. It is without question that our learners need to know how to use technology as part of their school years and later in their careers. It is also a way to increase student engagement and motivation. Technology allows teachers and student to explore the internet and discover new parts of the word and obtaining useful information for their tasks. All the learners can be actively involved by using the computers and doing some
Before the introduction of technology in education, learning was being done based on the old tried and tested ways. Learning was done strictly on books and person to person interaction. The teacher appeared in class in person and physically took the students through a step to step learning. This was accompanied by the use of pen and paper to take down the information that had been gained from the tutor (Garrison, 2003).

one of them was, “ how important is it for schools to make good use of technology in the education of students today?”
