A sixteen year old girl gave into all the things she struggled on. The depression. The anxiety. The stress. One day she decided it was all too much for her, so she killed herself. Many teens around the United States have committed suicide without thinking first. “According to the University of Texas, 75 percent of those who commit suicide are depressed. In teenagers, depression is considered a leading cause of teen suicide. There are many factors that can cause depression in teenagers” (“Teen Suicide Causes and Issues”). Teen suicide is mostly caused by depression. One reason teenage suicide is mostly caused by depression is the symptoms. The changes in teen behaviors are outrageous. They can go from happy to sad in a matter of a moment. This can be because of their parent relationships or school related. The article “Teenage Suicide Causes and Issues” defines that “Dramatic changes or problems at home can be a cause of teen suicide. Sometimes teenagers can't handle the upheaval created by divorce. This can be a very depressing time for many teens. Sometimes, teenagers may feel as though the divorce is in some way their fault. This can lead to feelings of guilt and shame” (1). They could also be worried about their grades in school because they are only getting worse. They may be pressured because they need college scholarships. But, sometimes this can be normal to teens. The reason for these people wanting to take their life is unknown, however, divorce of parents, formation of a new family, or moving to a new community, are common reasons for suicide.
