Have you ever wondered why students can do well in class but sometimes not so great on tests? This is because some people have a thing called testing anxiety. Testing anxiety is common for both high school and college students. Many people can walk into a classroom and be prepared for a test only to freak themselves out. How could this issue of testing anxiety be resolved? Though I do not have testing anxiety it is still important to me because taking test have always been a challenge. I believe testing anxiety is often overlooked and there should be more focus on this particular issue. This issue is major for some people and it can greatly affect their grades. If a solution could be found there could be a dramatic rise in not only test scores
We need to make this problem known around the world so that people in need can get professional help. We feel that anybody with test anxiety can be “cured” from the fact. We just need to convince people how big of a problem this really is.

Some people are not ready for the tests and quizzes yet,we should have a little more time before we can start them,should not be pressured to be ready for something we are not ready to do.A person can have “anxiety’’ because they might fail or think they might fail.Testes could be a high-level skill for some people by not knowing more than the other person or people,so he or she would have a difficult time doing the test or quiz.The quizzes or tests the person get back,their scores might be poor by not being ready,they need more time to know their objectives a little better.So,we need to wait until everyone or most of the people are ready to do their test or quiz so they can get a good grade at least.
Katya is a new freshman student who studies really hard to maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Because Katya needs to maintain a 3.0 grade point average or above for her scholarship, she experiences severe anxiety before each exam and she worries that the amount of time she studied before test is not enough to get an A. In order to maintain her scholarship for next semester, Katya must do well on her chemistry exam this semester. Because of this, she had a panic attack while trying to study for the chemistry exam and the test anxiety level increase tremendously. Test anxiety is a type of “Performance anxiety—a feeling someone might have in a situation where performance really counts or when the pressure’s on to do well” (Kidshealth.org). The reason why Katya experiences test anxiety is because she puts too much pressure on herself and keeps thinking that she has to get the scholarship for next semester and must do well on the exam.
At some point in time all of us experience anxiety whether or not it is for a test you stayed up all night studying for and somehow forgot everything you have ever learned since preschool or the case may be more serious. I myself, deal with anxiety on a day to day basis in many ways, at first I thought it wasn't a big deal, but then I started to suffer from physical pain and later found out it was from untreated anxiety.

Test anxiety has always been an issue I have struggled with and it has only increased since I started University. My personal experience with test anxiety leads to physiological symptoms such as nervous jitter, accelerated heart beats and light-headedness, all of which impacts my test taking skills and influence my decision making ability. This is a problem because although I am prepared with the knowledge for an exam, it still affects my judgement when writing my answers and thus causes an impact on my grades.

You open up the exam and start reading the first question, hoping to be familiar with the subject. As you read question after question, you realize that you can't recall the answers to anything that you have just read. Tests cause anxiety, however, I've never met a person that has not felt their heart race from the anticipation. If it severely impedes a student from taking a test;, many schools and colleges have policies that enable students to obtain a letter from a specialist informing professors and teachers of their need for extra time on tests.So on to my first point. Professors and teachers make tests only on important information taught in the class. So students that don’t do well may recognize the information, but not yet completely understand it. For example, In my Anatomy class, we don’t take multiple question tests, instead, we must know the information completely, which requires a complete understanding of the information. As a result, on my first quiz, I recognized the information but had no understanding of why things did things or the specific names of things. It helped me that I changed the way I studied.
My test anxiety is strong. In certain situations, I feel like I cannot think, like my mind goes blank. The concept of taking a test is more challenging than actually taking the test. My test anxiety causes me to feel like I'm going to fail and that there is no chance that I will get a good grade no matter how hard I try. I tend to feel it the most when I meet big tests such as the SAT and AP exams. At times, some of the material that I’ve learned sticks and I could focus on that, however, most of time I forget what I learned and studied and it all goes blank. I also feel the butterflies in my stomach, my body beginning to shake, and worst of all, I feel like throwing up. Test anxiety caused me to doubt myself in general. To make matters worse, my school at times categorize tests as a big part of your grade and sometimes with that, my grades tend to drop.
