For some the American dream is the value of hard work. To others it's a huge emphasis on material possessions. So, the American dream is no longer the American dream. It is a dream that anyone and everyone can relate to. This dream is the idea of having what ever you want. May it be material goods, ideas and values, or freedoms and rights. This idea also represents the uniqueness of America. It is a dream a lot of people around the world don't get to enjoy;
First, let's define "American Dream". "American Dream" is what you would consider a "perfect life." It can be full of happiness, money, love, food, cars, whatever you desire, everyone has a different opinion. One person’s American Dream may be totally different from someone else’s, that is what makes us all individuals. My American Dream would include a good job and lots of money, spare time for my family and I, and most importantly, healthiness.
The American Dream was discussed in 1975 in a poem named “Ellis Island”. It talks about the dreams of most people expect, but in the end it results with many disappointments. For example, in the poem, it claims, “Waited the long days of quarantine, a Circle Line ship slips easily on its way to the island.” It represents to reality by giving the dreams of many Americans and immigrants were given and expected to have when they arrive in America. It also claims “Lands invaded when the earth became owned. Lands of those who followed the changing Moon, knowledge of the seasons in their veins.” This points out the disappointments in the American Dream because of how it changed the expectations that everyone is hoping for. So in my opinion, the American Dream is to become one whole justified country that shows defending, qualification and challenging our fellow American citizens for the liberty of all people to find pursuit of happiness.
Through everybody’s eyes is their own version of the American Dream. Whether it’s the stereotypical dream with a good job, a family, and a house with a white picket fence, or it could be just getting by at the end of the month financially. The American Dream doesn’t have a specific image but rather a particular mindset. Lots of people have a goal in their life that they have to work hard to be successful towards that goal, but in most cases that goal may be unrealistic.

“I love the American Dream. I feel this is the place I was supposed to be in. It’s beautiful. I love it.” (Immaculee Ilibagiza). The American dream to me is a place where everyone has a chance to succeed. Where everyone can live in happiness. The dream is that everyone is happy, safe, and that everyone can make a decent living!
Leo W. Gerard develops an argument to persuade his audience that American colleges and universities should to be affordable for all students in order for them to experience the American Dream. To successfully create this argument, the author uses stylistic elements and evidence to develop his writing.
The American dream is achieved by few but sought after by everyone. This perfect lifestyle is what anyone would want. The american dream is not given away or picked up out of nowhere. It has to be made, formed, created, achieved. People dreaming is the closest thing that they do. The power to dream influenced what it meant to be an American by working hard, being successful, and sacrificing.
The American Dream is a goal that is specific to and can only be achieved in America. A dream is defined as a goal, hope, and/or plan for the future. In this case, this dream is only available for people living in the United States of America. In America, there are more jobs, a good education system, and the country is safer than most. Also, America says to have equal rights for women which is not always the case in other countries. All of these things attract people who do not have access to them which makes America a very desirable place. The American Dream is different for everyone and changes over time. Generation after generation, the American Dream has evolved into what it is today.
Do you know what the American dream really means? Dr.Martin Luther King Jr understood what that dream meant. King was a man who was all about equality, he believed that all men and woman no matter what race, religion or beliefs they had should all be equal. The American dream reminds us that every man is heir to the legacy of worthiness, that the dream had challenges as they faced it. Dr.King had a dream that one day America would become a better place he believed that America is essentially a dream, it was a dream that was yet unfulfilled. Yet it took us so long to discover the substance of this American dream though it was shown in the Declaration of Independence. This document had specific words that showed people what the American dream really meant, these words were “We holds these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by God, Creator, with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” Dr.Martin Luther King Jr used Aristotle’s rhetorical devices ethos, logos and pathos to explain the American dream.
The American Dream can mean different things depending on who is asked. Some will answer it is the freedom of religion, class or race, others will claim it is about the ability to choose where they want to work, what they want to wear, or what’s for breakfast the next day.
The American Dream has been talked about worldwide in some way or another. The myth is always the same. If you come to America, you can get a higher education, earn a better income, have a bigger house, have that “better life”. The dream always revolves around the same things which are education and money. This dream has been slowly dying since it is becoming less and less likely for it to become true.
The American Dream for many it means the ideals of freedom, equality and opportunity traditionally held by every American. A life of personal happiness in short terms. However this “American Dream “is different for everyone, and it is now being threaten by many factors such as the economy, which is a big part of it, employment and our education as well are being demolished.
I believe the American Dream is living in a house , having a stable job , enough money to do whatever you would like and lastly to live happy. The American Dream is also to go to school and have freedom of speech. America does not provide access to the American Dream for everyone because everyone does not have the same opportunities as others to go to school and have a good job, in America people discriminate others of different race and for being a woman. Through Yezierska and Noda , we come to understand how the American Dream is not possible.
The American Dream was a white picket fence, and a four-bedroom house. Children laugh as they run from the house and play in the yard. A nice dog runs around them and barks and plays with them. The mother watches from their porch. She gets to stay home with their family as her husband only works 40 hours a week using his college degree. They are in no debt and own a car they bought off the lot. The children always have new clothes and shoes. They never need hand me downs. Now we hope that when we get home that we have enough food to make it to pay day. Out debt piles up as we must cut another check for rent instead of paying off our loans. Our American Dream is just having extra income at the end of the night.
