Dying your hair at home is a simple process if done correctly. It can be a scary thought when it is your first time coloring your hair because the only thing running through your mind is how the outcome will turn out. Before anything, reading the warning label is extremely important. Hair colors have caused eye wounds, including visual impairment. Making sure the dye does not get into your eye is major when applying. Some colors can also cause unfavorably susceptible responses including skin aggravation and hair loss. Individuals can create sensitivities with a repetitive application.

Here are the top 5 things you absolutely need to know about caring for black hair.
There has been a notable amount of conversation on the internet on the rebirth of the natural hair movement. Cherise Luter (2014) states that despite afros and the natural hair movement not being a new concept (i.e. the Black Power Movement), it has gone under what she calls a “refreshing change”. Furthermore, what used to be “I’m black and I’m proud”, has been replaced with “I’m me and I’m proud” (Luter 2016). So, what is the natural hair movement? It is defined as a movement where black women decide to not conform to the social norms of chemically altering their hair and wearing it in its natural, kinky, or curled state (Joignot 2015). The movement could also be considered as an outlet for black women to display their racial and cultural pride or to articulate their “political position (Brown 2014:297). However, simply the terminology “movement” is something that should be shocking to many. There is a great amount of historical context behind the continuous influence Eurocentric beauty ideals have had on black women for centuries. According to Nadia Brown (2014), Black natural hair throughout history has proven to be recognized as “either unintended or intended personal and political statements” (298). the beauty standard in Western society which praises European hair textures, has influenced many black women to be critical of other black women who choose to chemically straighten their hair, accusing them of being subservient to the dominant and pervasive racist

As people look around the different cities of our fair country, one might notice that many people nowadays are coloring their hair to cover grey or just for the fun of it. One difference among the younger generation and the older generation is the colors that are chosen for their hair. The younger generation of this day and age seem to prefer wild colors such as Infra Red, Mystic Heather, Deadly Nightshade, Tiger Lily, etc, as self-expression compared to the older generation choosing natural shades to cover the signs of aging. This can be seen in the rising number of young people that are seen around with these types of wild colors. Not all young people choose the wild colors over natural shades because some choose the
“Like fashion and dress, hair can be situated as a fundamental part of ‘the means by which bodies are made and given by meaning and identity’” , “a combination of psychoanalytical and anthropological approaches to hair have produced a number of influential concepts around the role of hair in human society” , moreover, in human history, “ the representations and manipulation of hair, wherever it grows, has been fundamental to embodied social and symbolic practices that inscribe it with meaning” , “various transformations of human hair also affect gender power relations through hair’s potential to both mirror and mould cultural meanings” . My chemistry term paper is about the science involved in cosmetics. Cosmetology is the professional skill of beautifying the face, hair and nails, other things that Cosmetology includes is face washes, tattoos, henna tattoos, deodorant and antiperspirant, sunscreen, lotions and moisturizers, and towelettes. The chemistry involved with these almost everyday products is astounding, the ancient ingredients that they used that are now banned and obsolete, either being too poisonous or the product was replaced with something more healthy and safer to the environment or the skin. Make-up has improved steadily over the years with all the medical and chemical research over the years, from organic and skin sensitive products, to overnight treatments that you could buy at the drug store. Although with new products being

I’ve learned many thing from this project the first of which being that the simplest things I do such as getting my haircut are actually very complicated. For example I listed the steps I take to prepare for my haircut beforehand and while I initially thought this was the simplest part of my routine for getting my haircut it turned out to be immensely complex. I thought all I did was grab my wallet and take a few dollars out of my checking account, but in actuality I take my wallet then I check to make sure I have the right amount of money needed to purchase the haircut and any extra expenses that I might desire to purchase along with my haircut. I then secure my wallet and debit card throughout my day, when it’s time for me to go towards
After flipping off the switch to my cheap, red Revlon hair dryer, I took one glance in the mirror and noticed my hair looked exactly as expected: terrible. My dark brown curls were separated, flattened, and all the volume had been suctioned out. My once-voluptuous locks were now dry and brittle noodles. I have never had great experiences with hair dryers. Honestly, how could I? I have fine, curly hair that frizzes at the very touch of my fingers.
