The battle of Cold Harbor was fought from May 31- June 12, 1864. Today it is known as one of the bloodiest engagements of the American civil war. This battle resulted in heavy losses of men for the Union and only a couple thousand for the Confederacy. It was part of General Grant's overland campaign for Richmond. Cold Harbor is located about ten miles from Richmond, Virginia in Hanover County.

The Confederacy only had one major commander which was General Robert E. Lee and the Northern Virginia army. His troops were considerably out numbered only ranging up

The Battle at Bunker Hill had many events leading up to, and causing the event. The first of these was the Battle at Lexington and Concord which ultimately slowed the British down and keeping them inside Boston by Minute Men. Then Fort Ticonderoga was captured by Benedict Arnold, and the Green Mountain Boys. These two events were the start of the tensions between Great Britain and the Colonies. Later this tension became physical and appearing on the battle field. The Colonies decided they needed to talk about it, so the Second Continental Congress took place, it was here that it was decided that the Colonies would try and separate from their Mother Country, so the Continental Army was formed the Congress came to a conclusion “All voted in favor and Washington became the new Commander-in-Chief” (Yost, 2011, p. 2). The Continental Army’s first mission was to fortify Breed’s Hill and defend it from the British coming from Boston, which Breed’s Hill and Bunker Hill overlooked. The British wanted these positions in order to completely fortify Boston and drive all the Patriots out of the area.
The political leader of the union was Abraham Lincoln, and the three military commanders were Winfield Scott, Irvin McDowell, and Robert Patterson, and the political leader of the confederates was Jefferson Davis, and the two military commanders were P.G.T. Beauregard, and Joseph
May-June 1863 Vicksburg. This battle was also a big deal for both sides. It was the main transport way for supplies, food, water, and troops. It is the North’s way to win the war if they win the fort. If we lose the fort we would lose are main transport way and would start breaking down. We would start slowing down and loss a lot of hope. If the Union takes the fort they will control the Mississippi, and use it against the Confederates so they don't get food, water, and supplies.
The Battle of Yorktown was the decisive battle of the American Revolutionary War. The French and American forces laid siege upon the British forces at Yorktown, Virginia and eventually forced the surrender of nearly one-third of the total number of British troops in America. This battle showed that massive loss of life is not the only factor that will determine the victor, as there were a relatively low number of casualties taken by both sides. Instead, it was an aggregate of economic, social, geographical, and weather factors along with a bit of luck when it came to the timing of the major military movements and tactics all led to the success of the Franco-American forces. Had it not been for these combined factors the Battle of Yorktown and the American Revolutionary Was may have had a very different outcome.
The battle of Cold Harbor was a battle fought because Lee and Grant ran into each other, of course not literally, at Bethesda Church. In the end, the Confederates won this battle. The thing is, Grant had this perfect plan to take Lee out but he ended up losing the battle. The battle was postponed mainly because the Union’s plan backfired because the help needed didn’t arrive on the right day.
The Battle of Yorktown or better known as the Siege of Yorktown was the final battle in the American Revolution. The battle took place in Yorktown, Virginia in 1781. The battle lasted from September 28th 1781 and October 19th 1781. The American and French forces were lead by George Washington, Comte de Rochambeau, and Comte de Grasse. The conflict was caused due to many events like the Boston Massacre and The Boston Tea Party but was reinforced by how the British were treating the people of America and raising their taxes.
“Throw down your arms! Ye villains, ye rebels” (1775, 04/19: Battles of Lexington and Concord. (2007, June 26). The militiamen, who were greatly outnumbered, were ordered to leave when a shot rang out. No one really knows who fired first, but the British, hearing the shot, fired upon the small group of militia, killing eight and wounding 10 (1775, 04/19: Battles of Lexington and Concord. The Battle of Bull Run occurred on July 21, 1861 approximately three months after the start of the war. It took place in Prince William County, Virginia. To be more specific, nearby the town of Manassas and the river known as Bull Run. This is where the two sides derived the name of the engagement from. Often times, the Confederates used the name of the town they used as their base and the Union used rivers or streams.
War, the Ultimate Proving Ground: The black troops persevered in the face of hardship, prejudice, and discrimination. They fought in spite of atrocious treatment and in the face of bitter challenges, believing they could make a difference.
Major General Sterling Price commanded about 8,500 Confederates. Following the Confederate victory at Wilson 's Creek, Price 's men awaited orders in Springfield, Missouri when they heard that Curtis was leading 10,500 Union soldiers against them.
The Battle of Cold Harbor in spring of 1864 was one of General Ulysses S. Grant’s worst offensive defeats during the Civil War. Grant failed to describe his mission command to his subordinate, direct his units to correct movement, understand his operational environment, and lead his army with a coordinated plan. Grant had a stronger, bigger, and better-equipped army than his enemy, but his failure in the mission command process led to fatal mistakes before and during the battle. Due to failed leadership, the Union preparation for this war was so poor that it suffered nearly 7,000 casualties in under an hour, making it one of the most brutal confrontations of the Civil War.
The Battle of Ft. Donelson was on February 11-16. It was fought near the Tennessee Kentucky border. It was a key position because it gave the union access to the cumberland river giving naval access to other southern forts and positions. This battle lead to the capture of the confederate fort. The union soldiers were lead by Ulysses S. Grant and the confederates were lead by. After the defeat of Ft. Henry the majority of the confederate troops went to this fort to help reinforce it. Grant encircled it and sent a flotilla to bomb them lead by Gen. Foote from the river. The confederate forces made one last rush at them to try to open up an escape route and was so close to but for some reason Gen. Gideon ordered his troops to fall back. So

In Virginia the first battle of the Civil War was fought, near Manassas, Virginia railroad junction, after which the battle is called (or First Bull Run, named after the flowing stream on the battlefield, if of the Union point of view). The armies in this first battle were not prodigious by later Civil War principles. The Federal services under Brigadier General Irvin McDowell were well thought-out into four divisions, of about 30,000 men. These divisions were commanded by Tyler, Hunter, Heintzelman, and Miles. The Confederate command structure was to some extent more unmanageable, including two "armies", with no division structure and thirteen independent brigades under Bonham, Ewell, Jones, Longstreet, Cocke, Early, Holmes,
The Battle of Yorktown took place during the war of independence of the United States of America from 28 September to 17 October 1781. The success of the Americans started back in 1778 when Benjamin Franklin succeeded to secure an alliance with the French that would bring money and extra-armed forces to defeat the British. It confronts the American insurgents led by General George Washington and their French allies led by the Comte de Rochambeau against 8000 British Soldiers led by Lord Cornwallis in Yorktown. The United Kingdom was conducting war around the world and in North America, which became an unbearable burden and difficult to provide supplies fast enough to keep the momentum of their troops going. After 21 days of combat, the Allied
