.It depends on what career the person is considering and if the local college offers a curriculum or program that they feel will give them the knowledge they are pursuing for that chosen degree of choice. Also, the individual will take into consideration the benefits and cost that is involved with attending a local college as well as an -out-of-town college. The rational self-interest person would choose to attend an out-of-town
In the last decade, students and parents alike have begun to question the effectiveness of receiving a college education. Stories of students graduating college with outstanding student loans, being unable to find a job, or feeling overqualified for a position continually increase. In the same manner, the number of students apprehensive about refraining from entering the workforce for an additional four years while simultaneously spending thousands of dollars for an education that in the end may not assure them a job with an adequate income, increases. The issue then is to determine whether or not the cost of college is worth the outcome.
High school and college students across the country face the decision of whether or not to stay in state for their college education. The financial requirements of college can put a strain on many families. Young adults can also become lonely, scared, and lost without their families when attending college in an unfamiliar place. While college is already life changing enough the hassle of adjusting to new surroundings can be hard as well. Many Americans think that getting into a prestigious college and spending a ton for an education that someone can get for a much cheaper price at their local university is wise. The choice to go to an out-of-state college can affect the rest of someone’s life and send
Students nowadays face many challenges when it comes to obtaining a college education. We evaluate an institution’s quality based on what we need the most. The qualities sought out may vary by each person’s personal point of view. However, as a student, I’ve found that most students seek for an institute that benefits them the most. Attending a community college has been an enormous advantage towards my education. I have been attending San Bernardino Valley College for the last two semesters. I have come to respect their philosophies and values. The institution has now been in business for 87 years. They venture to encourage both students and faculty towards high standards of achievement and progress into exceptional members of the society. They now offer a variety of degrees, transfer programs and certificates for a wide range of students. San Bernardino Valley College has an accomplished staff, student support services and technological tools that pave the road towards the conquest of a quality education.
A college education is proven to increase an individual 's earnings, however, women’s earnings are still not as much as men’s, even when they have the same degree (Patten, 2015).
Students prefer to attend school out-of-state may be doing so for the reason of atmosphere. The college of ones dreams may not be in the state they currently reside, it could be in a state that's three thousand miles away. Experiencing “new foods, different geography, and perhaps a climate change” may be exactly what the student wants to experience when gathering an education (Baron). Another thing a student wants to engage in when attending college is independence. Independence may be a very important quality when choosing a school. Being responsible for things such as “schedules, making and keeping appointments, shopping, healthy eating, laundry, and budgeting” can give students higher confidence levels which will increase the college experience. The temptation of driving home with one's laundry basket to make one's mom do their laundry will decrease as the miles from home increase, forcing students to become more confident and independent. The out-of-state experience for a college student may be the best part of attending college. The college three thousand miles away can be more “alluring, to be able to spread their wings, especially if their college of choice holds the lure of prestige” causing the out-of-state college to be desirable to any student looking to attend a university of any kind

Out-of-state public colleges are more expensive than in-state public colleges. For that reason, many students stay in state for their education. Let's say you can go out of state to a public college on an in state tab. Sounds like a dream, but is it reality?
There have been arguments when discussing the price of attending college. The main argument that we have is whether college tuition is too expensive or not. Over the last few decades the college tuition rates have increased drastically, but is a rate increase necessarily a good or bad thing. I personally believe that the cost to attend college is too expensive especially for low and middle-income families. There are many reasons why tuition could be considered too expensive they include, rise of tuition, little financial aid, and lack of college savings to name a few. The first reason why college tuition is considered too expensive is the continuing rise of tuition itself. Between the years 1973 to 2008 tuition for a four-year increased
College tuition should not be free by any means necessary. Students would not take college seriously if there was no price. College students would totally take advantage of the opportunity to go to college for free and completely blow it , it would even the playing field for everyone to be equal because college tuition is what keeps everyone else out. College would then be accessible to anyone who wanted to go.
Attending community college helped prepare myself as better student and understanding of what is essential to do to succeed at a top university level. I had to teach myself specific work ethics and traits to improve myself as a student. The first trait I constantly worked on during the school year is having more self-discipline as it is necessary to become a successful. I would use intrinsic motivations to succeed as I had the desire to achieve a good GPA and transfer within two years. Also, having this important aspect is necessary as it prepares myself in a learning environment due to the fact that I’m not forced to take notes or show up to class. Another aspect that I needed to improve in is having a positive mindset. Being positive and
Ever since I was five years old, you have always stressed that when I go to a University, you want me to stay as close to home as possible. This way, you both could see me a lot through the week, if not everyday. I know Dad went to college only a couple miles from where he grew up, but you, Mom went to school in Chicago. You are always talking about how college was such a great time, even though you were away from your family. Staying may seem like it is beneficial, and an overall easier situation. I feel that an out of state college would have a greater effect on my future, because I would be exposed to different lifestyles and cultures, I would overcome social anxieties, and mature.
Adjusting to an unfamiliar setting can be a frightful, and an uneasy thought; however, college offers opportunities to make the transition smoother. Dr. Randall S. Hansen, a highly respected professor and proven writer, wrote this article pertaining to the transition to college, “Your First Year of College: 25 Strategies and Tips to Help You Survive and Thrive Your Freshman Year and Beyond.” Not seeing family, friends, or even neighbors everyday can be an intimidating thought but there are simple ways to adapt. This quote personally stood out by giving me a tip on how to make that conversion effortless “Consider joining a group-and be careful not to go overboard-of student organizations, clubs, sororities or fraternities, or sports teams,”
Imagine the senior year of high school when students are poised to enter college and become adults. It's a time of responsibility, of being on one's own, and of shaping lives by making daily decisions. One of the major decisions is where to attend college. Should a person stay close to home and attend an in-state school where people and even campuses are somewhat familiar? Or should the decision be to start a completely new chapter in one's life by attending a college farther away, with totally new challenges? I believe the answer is definitely to leave town.
Why go to college is a question many people debate with. The majority of people are not aware of the substantial benefits of attending college. With the rapid shift in today’s economy having a college degree is a major key. According to article written by Fatou Faal, “The United States has been transformed from manufacturing-based economy to an economy based on knowledge, and the importance of a college education can be compared to that of a high school diploma education forty years ago.” The benefits of college prepare and shape you for today’s world.
