Blue vein societies reigned supreme from after abolition to the late 1920’s. These social clubs formed during Reconstruction in areas flooded by free slaves. The Bon Ton Society was formed in Washington D.C. and the Blue Vein Society was formed in Nashville. Membership was “considered an honor” and “blue veiners” even received exclusive access to vacation resorts, such as Chesapeake Bay.
Interest groups are structured groups which try to influence government to adopt certain policies or measures. The responsibilities of an interest group can be never-ending. One of the main responsibilities of an interest group is giving the underrepresented a chance to speak out on issues they are passionate about. The Rainbow/Push Coalition is an interest group I believed I would be passionate about.

Partisan hostility intensified increasingly and the phenomenon of divided government has emerged and has been maintained even after the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2004. One main reason of political confrontation between two campaigns is that the Pan-Blue camp refused to accept the 2004 presidential election, because it criticized a gunshot incident that occurred one day before the election. The Pan-Blue campaign believe this incident was designed to manipulate public sentiment and to facilitate the president’s reelection. Lawsuits against the validity of the election and the elected office were filed to the courts by the Pan-Blue campaign. The courts finally dismissed these suits and maintain the result of elections. Lester Browns Plan B 4.0: Mobilizing to Save Civilization is one of a few books published that reveals in depth planning to ecological sustainability. Lester Brown is the President of a non-profit research organization titled “Earth Policy Institute,” which he founded in May of 2001. Mr. Brown has developed a four step plan to make the Earth a cleaner and better place. Throughout this paper we will be weighing the pros and cons of Lester Browns four step plan. Lester Brown’s plan has lots of upside but remember; nothing is free, everything produced has an opportunity cost. Mr. Brown is an intelligent human being, but fails to recognize the damage that can be made in producing “environmental-friendly” objects such as electric cars and windmills. It is also important to understand that every plan created for achieving ecological sustainability will have tremendous downsides. It is a good start, but humans are still decades, maybe even centuries away from creating the correct plan to achieve ecological sustainability. To understand the entirety of Lester Brown’s plan, you must break down each step individually. It is also important to comprehend that Lester’s results from each step could very well be correct but the process of each could do more harm than good.
As Adams pursued his work in both art and conservation the various lines of his life were beginning to converge revealing both the unity and the disjunction of his ideas. 137 His impact was felt on both spheres of influence. Using modern techniques of mass communications, Adams brought a vision of idealized wilderness to a broad audience and linked the environmental movement with nationalism and a romantic view of nature. The sustained popularity of his photographs illuminates a continuing public fascination with the wilderness landscape as both a place of beauty and a symbol of national identity and ideals. (Pacific 42) Most leaders within the conservation movement continued to share his ideal assuming that economic growth and wilderness
“A land ethic is a moral code of conduct that grows out of these interconnected caring relationships (TALF).” Currently humans are using more fossil fuels then we ever had which is leading to the destruction of habitats but also the extinction of thousands of species. Certain organizations are being to fight the commercialization of America. Fossil Fuel companies are wiping out thousands of ecosystems and species because of the increase of industry. There are three major land ethic organizations like the Sierra Club, Bureau of Land Management and Ducks Unlimited which use specific land ethics to represent their specific ideals.

Nothing short of tragedy struck America in the 1930s. When Franklin D. Roosevelt took office in 1933, unemployment rates had reached a staggering 25% (DeGrace). With over 13 million Americans void of both work and hope, the necessity of government intervention became evident (DeGrace). The New Deal, a legislation encompassing various relief, reform, and recovery programs, was Roosevelt’s proposed method of revival. One of the first, and perhaps the most well-known, agencies, was the Emergency Conservation Work Act (ECW), which would later become the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) (CCC Brief History). Through this organization, Roosevelt aimed to assuage impacts of The Great Depression beyond simply its detriment to economic prosperity. Ultimately, he prevailed in doing so. The Civilian Conservation Corps, having aroused incredible public support, was an extremely effective agency due to its success in granting Americans economic, environmental, and spiritual relief that would prosper throughout its undying legacy.

It is stated that Sierra Club sued to block a lease that was granted by the Secretary of the Interior for the use of federal land for the purpose of leasing the land for a ski area. Not much information was provided about the case. However, it sounds like the reason Sierra Club sued to block the lease is that of the potential competition that was coming into the area. Considering this piece of land is federal property, there is such thing as a Property Clause. “The Property Clause gives Congress authority to do as they will with the land, territories or other property of the United States” (Alexander & Gorte, 2007, p. 2).
The community, business partners, customers/guests, and employees all have low power, high importance.
