Few do not think art seem interesting, but many have seen different types of it on the internet such as in a blogs, tumblr, Facebook. My potential blog topic is about animation and my version on certain cartoon. I would like to redraw my favorite cartoon characters and will inform why I like the cartoonist’s style. The cartoon art was one of the reasons I wanted to do try different artistic media such as drawing, painting, or graphic designing. I was thinking, I can ask other people about their favorite characters and in what style they would like to see in. For example, Snoopy from the Peanuts in a Tim Burton style or whatever they prefer. My blog is for anyone who likes cartoons or who wants to do a request. In this essay, I will explore the animation style, describe and inform the reason why I like art.
The blog reflects on my own identity is by growing up watching animations such as: Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and even anime shows. I was interested in art by looking at the animator and cartoonist art style. In 2004, Foster’s Home for the Imaginary Friends had first aired and it had inspired me to doodles creatures and people. The inspiration came based on the characters’ design. The design of the main and background characters are different and unique. For example, one of the main characters is called Bloo and he looked like a blue ghost and yet he has body movements that seems like he has knees. No one in the cartoon looks like him since

My artwork is a representation of my shadow portrait/profile. This portrait is displayed next to a window view. My artwork looks like my portrait is viewing a world beyond constraints of the window and longs to be at one with nature. The title of my artwork is Optimistic Reflections. The elements of art incorporated in my work include line, shape, and colour. Geometric shapes and a variation of lines (diagonal, wavy, etc.) were used for the patterns/zentangles. Organic shapes/ free flowing shapes were incorporated to produce the portrait shadow outline. The colour of the collaged images represents my optimistic personality. As well, the dark purple background represents a gloomier atmosphere which my positive portrait is attempting to eliminate.
I experienced my pop culture moment when I was a senior at my high school. My transportation to go to my school was buses. I took the same buses to school from freshman year, but I have never noticed what I notice in my senior year. Every morning I wake up to go to school at 8 a.m. I would see people going to work, schools etc. but one day I notice there was a group of white women who is going to their work wearing sari (sari is a garment which is long and usually it’s draped around women’s body. Asian women mostly wear it). I found that very odd because they didn’t look like to me that they would know anything about the roots of sari or the culture. I thought they were mocking the culture because the saris that they wearing weren’t 100% correct. I used to see them wearing traditional Indian cloth and I
Thirdly, is a cartoon called “Patience Monsignor Your Time Will Come.” This cartoon depicts the Clergy and shows the clergy being fat, overfed, and underworked. It demonstrates that the clergy had more wealth in the church than the poor peasants. The people disliked that the church was wealthier than the people and wanted the clergy to be squeezed of all their money. The people of the enlightenment went in and attack the Church, taking as much money as they could. The Catholic's became very offended, but they found themselves to be more afraid of the power that the commoners held. The many different cartoons of this time brought harsh criticism to the Catholic churches. But the depictions of the events helped the people express their feelings
The pencil liberates my stresses and sorrows. Bare and unimpeded, my mind is able to isolate itself from anything that was happening in my life. At my art table, which is merely an escape from reality, my curiosity is able to wander. Within this room, five blank canvas's look in on me as I become a mold of my imagination. A step inside my world develops into a sea of color and exploration. The vibrancy of the walls resonates throughout. Over the years, my room has served as my oasis. It’s my escape from monotonous and mundane routines. It’s my exploration of another side of me. I observe such works of art almost as much as I create. Taking notice of my classmates’ innovations and inspired by their creativity, my paintbrush begins to alleviate stress. I strive to produce pieces others will appreciate, but often find myself to be the true admirer. My pride, in this world, is driven simply by my own curiosity to express myself. I credit this side of me as the “passion” that supplements my insane drive for success. This passion has sparked critical thinking in me as well as how I see failure. Life is a blank canvas and you can truly draw whatever you want, and if you fail, you start over and don’t make that same mistake again! Hard work takes ideas quite far, but true success is derived from ingenuity and the generation of
Both essays focus on children's ability to blend visual drawings and writing and how they interact with one another. In some classrooms young children are being urged to see drawing and writing separately rather than as a unified system of meaning making. Thomas Newkirk makes us think about how pictures relate to language in written texts, and Alexie Sherman explains how he had the help from comic books (graphic novels) and watching his dad's passion for reading help (sponsor) him want to learn how to read. They both believe that visual images communicate meaning. Its not just about the design and creativity but also about how culture and meaning are reflected, communicated and altered by images. This is visual literacy, it involves all the
“Okay, so now you know that I'm a cartoonist. And I think I'm pretty good at it, too. But no matter how good I am, my cartoons will never take the place of food or money. I wish I could draw a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or a fist full of twenty dollar bills, and perform some magic trick and make it real. But I can't do that. Nobody can do that, not even the hungriest magician in the world”(7).
The primary source that I chose are two different cartoons that show the change in the family life of the 1950’s. These two different views of women in these cartoons are brought together to show how post-war time changed the lives of single women and mothers from working women back to an ideal house wife life. The picture on the left is of Rosie, who was created as the new “working women”. Now that lots of the men in the family, who were the breadwinners are being sent out to war. The women of the family needed to step up to be the “breadwinners”, ordinarily there was no income coming in to the family without the husband. This shifts when the men come back from wartime, nevertheless are expecting to take their jobs back, which they ensure. The women are sent back to their homes to be once again the idea house wife.
According to MacCloud (1993) “the comics have the particularity of combining two very rich forms of cultural expression: the literature and the plastic arts, what makes them a very effective pedagogic tool. When completely explored, words and illustrations have an enormous power to tell stories and to transmit messages.” 4.
The artist who made this cartoon, Doug Davis, is trying to show the audience how poor our current jury selection can be. Jurors often lack interest and jump to conclusions quickly. The artist also portrays how most jurors are not well informed about the crime. For example one of the jurors in the cartoon says “The defendant looks guilty”. The artist is trying to show how this juror is judging to quickly without any evidence or other jurors opinions. Other jurors in the cartoon are letting their personal opinions and private lives influence their decision. For instance the juror says “I’m not prejudice, but I’ve had problems with his ethnic group”. Overall, the artist is trying to depict the flaws in jury selection. The artist is suggesting
Communication and connection are accomplished by visual aids. The renowned graphic designer, Massimo Vignelli once said, “The life of a designer is a life of fight. Fight against the ugliness. Just like a doctor fights against disease. For us, the visual disease is what we have around, and what we try to do is cure it somehow with design”. The world is influenced by the visual arts. Graphic design provides the ability to change a personal perspective and cultivate strong emotions. Children grow up with corporate characters digitally designed for entertainment. For example, Mickey Mouse, Moana, Stitch, and Olaf are iconic staples in a child's life. Adult years consist of posters, covers, and logos urge consumers to buy products or support certain
I believe the subject of Mike Twohy’s cartoon is today’s culture. I say this because it shows the news reporters as lies, rumors, and innuendo to show that even in our daily culture’s news is not to be trusted because everyone feels the need for exaggeration. It shows a man walking a dog that is trying to see what is going on with the reporters, and he is seeing firsthand what reporters will do in order to get a better story. Furthermore, the subject of the cartoon is today’s culture in order to allow viewers to come to the idea that not everything in our culture is perfect and is to be trusted.
From a very young age, You’d see me sitting down at the coffee table with nothing more than scraps of notebook paper and my trusty crayons. I’d just sit there and let my mind run wild with whatever it was on my mind. At a young age, that wasn’t too hard to do. My folks would always applaud me on my work with such enthusiasm that it sparked a flare inside me. As the years went on, I got more involved through online communities like deviantart. I was exposed to different styles and genres as well as artists. There was this one particular artist that stood out the most to me. He was this Independent artist who went by the name Peter Mohrbacher. Mr. Mohrbacher did these really neat illustrations depicting these other worldly beings. His brilliance
Dear reader, I ask you to accompany me on a journey through the mind of a great creator. Not the Great Creator, mind you, but only one, and that one is myself. Many would consider me to be a rash man, one of immense skill but little actual talent, one who believes more intensely than rational thought may permit. And in that sense, they consider me to be a dreamer. But what a perfect profession I have found! It is the most acceptable profession for a dreamer to have, in my honest opinion, for what other type of work allows one to make his dreams a reality? Truly, animation is the one true profession for dreamers, the most accepting line of work for such strong and skilled personalities. I, myself, find that life is merely a composition of brush strokes and feathered lines sketched by a hand careless in its execution. A hand that may erect and raze as it wishes, or, in such cases as my own, as it is commanded by an even higher power than that which wills life from vacuous space.
My alien drawing did conform to the typical schema. I think this happened because I use to watch so much cartoons when I was younger. The cartoons all depicted the alien to have this guitar pick size head with two distinct black eyes and grayish color. The images in other cartoon may have had addition limbs or an antenna but never deviate from the body structure. It was kind of strange to me that I was able to draw the alien while not looking at a picture. Automatic thinking is concept that helps to explains phenomenon. Automatic thinking is a way we process information effortless and impulsively as if it was our intuition. Since I watched so many cartoons that had episodes of alien in it, automatic thinking took place, and I got a general
