Have you ever heard about global warming? Global warming is a gradual increase in the temperature of the Earth’s surface both water and land . Years ago, when the Earth experienced an increase in temperature it was a result of natural causes but today it is being caused by the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere produced by human activities. The greenhouse effect occurs because of the presence of specific gases in the atmosphere at a high rate. These gases play a major role in maintaining the earth’s thermal energy. Due to absorbing a portion of the infrared radiation emitted from its surface and retaining it in the atmosphere; Subsequently, heating the surface of the Earth and maintaining its temperature constant or up to the level that makes life possible. The rise in the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere led to the retention of a larger amount of thermal energy in the Earth, affecting all its operation and system. Global warming affects the planet seriously in several ways including climate change, melting polar ice caps and widespread extinctions of species.
One of the most immediate and obvious effects of global warming is climate change. It is a major and permanent change in Earth’s climate pattern of temperature, snow, humidity, rainfall level and wind speed of a region. Scientists strongly believe that global temperature will continue to rise because of the greenhouse gases produced by human activities. The average surface temperature of the planet has risen
Global warming (the greenhouse effect) is the increase in the temperature of Earth's weather which has become popular to many people as one of the most important danger in the universe. Discussions about causes, solutions, postive and negative effects have made by human-beings.
Global warming is the escalation of Earth’s average temperatures due to the effect of greenhouse gases. Such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossils fuels and the disforestation of our forest and jungles, which trap the heat that would eventually escape from earth back to space. This is a method of greenhouse effect. Global climate change is already beginning to transmute the presence of life on earth. Also, climate change is transforming the landscape, the rising seas, stronger storms, increased risk of floods and droughts, higher temperatures, more heat-related illnesses with in humans and the economy.
Global warming is a gradual process of heating of earth’s surface and whole environment including oceans, ice caps, etc. The global rise in atmospheric temperature has been clearly noticed in the recent years. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, in the past century there is increase in the earth’s surface average temperature by around 1.4-degree Fahrenheit. It has also been estimated that global temperature may increase by another 2 to 11.5 degrees F in the next century.
Global warming is an increase of Earth’s temperature throughout a period of time. Global warming is a disease that is one of the root causes of Earth’s illness. This invisible change has a lot of drastic effects on mankind, wildlife as well as nature. The reasons to these destructions are humans themselves. There are some very obvious ways to tackle the situation. Many of the extraordinary weather changes since the 1950’s are recorded in the instrumental temperature record which stretches out to the mid-19th Century while having thousands of years according to the Paleoclimate Proxy Records [IPCC Climate]. Temperature across the whole world is predicted to change throughout this century and continuing. The Earth’s ability to tackle the emission of heat-trapping gases, as well as the amount of gases released will predict the magnitude of global climate change [NASA].
Scientists around the world have been researching climate change since the 1970’s. One thing most agree on is that the temperature of Earth is rising at a rapid pace and that global warming has been caused mostly by human activity. Our atmosphere contains gases that act as a blanket, because it traps heat from the sun and prevents it from escaping back into space. The trapping of the sun’s heat by these gases is known as the greenhouse effect, and the gases are called greenhouse gases. The main greenhouse gases that occur in nature are carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. Without the greenhouse effect, earth would be too cold to support life.
Over the past 50 years, the average global temperature has been increasing at the fastest rate ever recorded. Experts say that the heating rate is only going to increase, while people who deny this say that there has been a “slow down” or “pause” in the rising global temperatures. Scientists say that unless something changes, the average U.S. temperature could increase by 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century. (1) Almost 100% of the global temperature increases have been the result of increased greenhouse gas concentration like water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane and ozone. One of the largest sources of greenhouse gas is the burning of fossil fuels leading to the emission of carbon monoxide. (2) Most scientists have agreed that the main cause of the current global warming is the expansion of the “greenhouse effect”. (3)
It has been known that Earth’s atmospheric temperature has risen over the decades, the exact term for this is called “Global Warming”. So, what exactly does this mean? To simply state it, heat is emitted into the atmosphere and then eventually released. Some gases such as carbon dioxide, water vapor and methane capture heat more efficiently than others and are called “greenhouse gasses”, and if the atmosphere contains more of these gases, it retains more heat and becomes warmer, thus causing the rise in atmospheric temperature. “Global levels of greenhouse gases have been steadily increasing. In 1990 they were more than 14 percent higher than in 1960. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which measures long-lived greenhouse gases and publishes an Annual Greenhouse Gas Index (AGGI), greenhouse gases increased 37 percent from 1990 to 2015, and of that, carbon dioxide accounted for 80 percent of the increase (Keating).” This results in significant changes in climate and weather patterns. The rise in average temperatures is crucial and is already causing changes in the climate, “Documented changes include the net loss of ice due to melting glaciers and slowly rising sea levels as the ocean gets warmer and its waters expand (Keating).” So where exactly do these gases in the atmosphere come from, Scientists have discovered that “One significant factor, the rise in greenhouse gases, has been attributed to the activities of humankind. Earth is warming up, so what does this mean for the billions of people that will be affected, if global warming continues? Global warming is the act of Greenhouse Gases; which is Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen in the form of water vapor. These greenhouse gases are how the Earth stays warm, heat comes from the sun and with the help of greenhouse gases; the heat from the sun becomes trapped; to keep the Earth warm. Since the industrial revolution, which increased the use of fossil fuel, Earth’s temperature is rising at an alarming rate (Gale Video, 2015). Global warming is affecting the lives of billions of people, with extreme weather, effects on food production, and rising health concerns.
Global Warming is the gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. Global warming has increased over the past few centuries. Human actions, greenhouse gases, and climate changes all coincide within global warming. It has a huge affect on the lives of every living organism and nature. “It has been proven to be effective due to the justification of human actions, a rise in climate changes, and greenhouse gases, which is the number one cause” (Casper Introduction).
Global warming ' is one facet of the broader term 'climate change. It is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth 's surface air and oceans from the mid 20th century and the projected continuation. The Global warming is primarily the consequence of building up greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. Emission rates for most important anthropogenic greenhouse gas, CO2, have increased 120 fold in the past 140 years. While in the 19th century, emissions were mostly from deforestation and the other land use changes, now they are predominantly from burning fossil fuels. As CO2 in the atmosphere has the lifetime of more than a century, the historic emissions play the
What is global warming? Global warming is the result of certain gases building up in the atmosphere that block heat from escaping. These gases are causing a temperature rise in the Earth’s atmosphere and causing climate change. The rise in the Earth’s temperature has had many effects on the Earth itself. These effects include: polar ice caps melting, the rise in sea level, plant and animal ranges shifting and trees flowering sooner.
Global Warming has severe effects on the community. It causes a big increase in the amount of natural disasters. The icebergs are melting, California and other places have had a lot more wildfires recently, there have been major floods and droughts, and tropical storms are getting stronger. The warmer the degrees are, the stronger the category of a hurricane will be. Also, oceans are becoming warmer which means ocean life are in danger. Climate change causes problems for our health as well because of the amount of pollution in the air.
It is also known that volcanoes have affected the cause of global warming. Volcanoes are said to emit carbon dioxide (CO2) in two ways. First during the volcanic eruptions and secondly through underground magma which is a combination of molten rock and gases below the surface of the Earth that may erupt from a volcano as lava [12]. When the volcanoes erupt the gas from the volcanoes pollute the air causing gas emissions to be let out. Most of the carbon dioxide that is released by volcanoes is emitted by degassing of subterranean magma when the volcano is not erupting [5]. It is also said that volcanoes can “alter the orbit of the earth” which makes it a key factor for climate change. While volcanoes only exist in certain parts of the planet, the release of gas, dust, and ash into the atmosphere can cause a lot of damage. Even the smallest particles of dust can get trapped into the stratosphere for months which in turn will cause
Global warming is the believe in which the actions of humanity and their way of life has impacted the world temperature of its atmosphere to rise up. Thus, heating up the planet or what is commonly known as Global Warming. This cause is occurring because of the greenhouse effect in which by producing a large amount of carbon dioxide, pollutants and heat, the suns warmth gets trapped in the planet’s atmosphere. In which instead of releasing the normal amount of heat it stays within the planet. For example, an iceberg that would normally take hundreds of years to melt it would only take a few years now. This is due because most humans don’t really think of their actions and most still believe till this day that the global warming is a hoax created by scientist. Yet scientist have confirmed that the greenhouse effect begins with the sun and the energy that it radiates to the earth. The earth might be able to absorb most of it with its atmosphere, while sending the rest back into space. Yet because we release extra greenhouse gases the earth can only reflect a little back to space. This makes the world become experience hotter days than it supposed to. For instance, if a water bottle is left on the freezer and then taken out it would take a lot of time for the ice to melt back into water. whereas if you were to hold it with your warm hands you would see the ice melt faster than usual. This is what happens when as humanities we overlook the fact that we are destroying our world little by little. We drive everyday worrying about getting from point A to point B on time that we forget that we are burning up fossil fuels. After the industrial revolution and the development of factories we began to multiply the gases we let out into the atmosphere. This causes for the ice caps that surround us to melt and increase the sea level, thus creating floods in certain parts of the worlds. Also large wildfires are growing because of the dangerous heat waves. For example in the country of India their streets have experience the extreme heatwaves where their asphalt has melted as if it was put in a furnace. In California, we also experience recent droughts were lakes were completely dried up, leaving no evidence of water. We are
Temperatures rising, storms collapsing down in our homes, and illnesses affecting everyone all around us. Imagine these threatening matters approaching our life in the nearby future. The causes of these matters are due to global warming. Global warming occurs through the continuing increase in temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere due to the trigger of high levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. Global warming is strongly associated with the greenhouse effect and the gases. Other examples include the effects of what global warming does, which vary. A few common issues are floods and droughts caused by an increase in temperature. Global warming remains slowly damaging our planet in ways that can be potentially fatal to all living organisms in it.
