Global Warming
Humans are the most influential causes of global warming. This is mainly happening because of the carbon pollution spreading throughout the atmosphere caused by burning fossil fuels. Carbon dioxide and many other chemicals released into the atmosphere act like a blanket which traps the heat of the sun and causes the planet to get warmer. From 2000 to 2009 it was the hottest decade in the past 1,200 years (according to the National Climate Assessment). This is changing everything about Earth, from land, atmosphere, oceans, and ice. This causes extreme weather, polluted air, wildlife extinction, and even diseases due to the warmer weather. Global warming is a huge problem in our world today and we must try to lessen the affects by encouraging the government to spend its attention more on global warming programs, informational ads, and websites in order to keep the world safe and to secure a better future. As sea and land experience fast changes, the organisms that inhabit them are challenged if they do not adapt fast enough. Many freshwater, land, and ocean species are moving to colder climates in order to escape the heat. They are also changing migrational patterns and seasonal behaviors. Many animals can die from these experiences and some species can even go extinct. A 2015 study from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change presented that vertebrate species like birds, fish, and reptiles are disappearing 114 times faster than they should be and this
“Climatism is the belief that man-made greenhouse gases are destroying earth’s climate” said Steve Goreham, the executive director of the Climate Science Coalition of America and author of the book “The Mad, Mad, Mad World of Climatism: Mankind and Climate Change Mania”. Historically, earth climate has become a major problem after the Industrial Revolution during the 18th and 19th century and it significantly becomes a big concern in the present days. This essay will illustrate the possible root of climate change which is caused by mankind as well as nature.
Climate change is one of the utmost damaging problem to humanity by the reason that it affects everyone who lives on Earth. Though there are social problems, such as war or racism, that may affect certain groups of people, even those with no human contact are affected by climate change in some way.
What are climate change and global warming? Does it affect today’s earth? To know what is climate change and global warming we must know what does weather and climate mean. Weather is what circumstances of the atmosphere are over a short period of time. Climate is how the atmosphere acts over fairly long periods of time. Since 1977 earth has been extraordinary warmer than its average. But what causes the earth to get warmer? The main cause of climate change and global warming is made by human activities putting too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Climate and atmospheric changes on earth occur because of natural resources or human activities. Both effects are closely linked because what humans do on earth effects the environment and surrounding return in back to glacial potions, seas, mountain sides and deserts which might turn back to our climate in form of volcanic changes, temperature of our surroundings, snowfalls and heavy or less rainfalls [USGS (2014)].
When the Earth’s atmosphere is slowly increasing in temperature due to rising levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants, it is called global warming. The Earth’s climate has begun to change ever since the spark of the industrial revolution where coal was heavily utilized to propel factories and railroads, resulting greenhouse gas emissions to be sped up. Temperatures around the globe becomes warmer and a Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius suggested the cause was the buildup of CO2 in the atmosphere. Around 1979-1985, international conferences on climate change were created to address problems of global warming and prevent possible man-made changes in climate and people are still trying to solve this at the present day. Therefore, global warming has a cause and effect from one area to the next hence, it is an urgent complication and needs to be resolved collaboratively by all nations.
Climate change is caused by greenhouse gases changing the atmospheres surface temperature. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide are increasing the overall temperature of the atmosphere every day. But climate change causes more problems than just temperature's rising. Climate change also affects wind patterns, sea levels, precipitation patterns, and air pressure. Global warming contributes to climate change as seen in the recent hurricanes that have affected many places in the world today. Hurricanes are occurring in places of the world that they do not occur often because the earth has gotten warmer. The overall temperature of the atmosphere increases the chance of tropical storms and hurricanes. Climate change intensifies hurricanes by the increasing temperature of the earth, powerful winds, sea levels rising, and the amount of precipitation.
“Over the past century, the burning of fossil fuels and other human and natural activities has released enormous amounts of heat trapped gases into the atmosphere. These emissions have caused the Earth's surface temperature to rise, and the oceans absorb about 80 percent of this additional heat .”(National Geographic, 1). Climate change is happening because of humans doing things such as eating the wrong food, . In the United States, climate change has been an important topic, rising temperature and sea level storms, early snowmelt, and long seasons. It has caused problems with the coral reefs, fossil fuels, the methane produced by cows, sea level rise and more. Climate change is caused by man because the way people are living are affecting the environment.
Over the years, it has been evident through the reported news that the weather in many parts of the world is unpredictable. Climate change is a large-scale, long-term shift in the planet's weather patterns or average temperatures (Met Office, 2015). Climate Change has not always been political until it has gained the attention of many politicians across the world to advocate a change in countering climate change during the late 1970s. There are issues such as climate migration and strain relationships between countries have resulted from global warming. Since then, politicians, scientists, and world leaders have come together to find feasible solutions to try mending the damages done. This essay will look at how improving relations between countries, implementation of improved policies and educating societies may be feasible solutions to face climate change.
Discovering the Main Cause of Global Warming Upon researching the causes of Global warming, it was discovered that humans are the main cause of global warming which contributes to the rising average global temperatures. The theory of global warming was originated in the late 1850's by a scientist named John Tyndall. Tyndall discovered that some gases block radiation, and trap heat on the earth’s surface. He then suggested that the accumulation of these gases to a high level, causes climate change. Current research shows that global warming is caused by the high levels of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by humans. Smoke produced by factories, vehicular exhaust, and the burning of fossil fuels such as coal in power plants are the primary sources of carbon dioxide. When carbon dioxide is released into the Earth's atmosphere, it steadily accumulates because it cannot escape into space. Humans are the main cause of Global Warming. Global warming is also known as the greenhouse effect, which means an increase in the temperature of earth’s atmosphere. “Since about the mid 1800s, the worldwide average temperature has been going up about 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (1.4°F), or 0.8 degrees Celsius (0.8°C), much of it after 1970 During that upward trend , many cold and warm periods have come and gone” (Colligan
Temperatures are rising, storms are crashing down in our homes, and illnesses are affecting everyone all around us. Imagine these threatening matters approaching our life in the nearby future. The causes of these matters are due to global warming. Global warming occurs through the continuing increase in temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere due to the trigger of high levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. Global warming is strongly associated with the greenhouse effect and the gases. Other examples include the effects of what global warming does, which vary. A few common issues are floods and droughts caused by an increase in temperature. Global warming remains slowly damaging our planet in ways that can be potentially fatal to all living organisms in it.
Temperatures are rising and we need to help. Global Warming is a problem that is affecting our globe dramatically and is often thought of as a joke to skeptical people. Global warming was first discovered about 60 years ago and has become a very heated topic in modern society for environmentalist. Global warming has many causing factors, but a main one is the production of gases such as carbon dioxide from cars and factories. Global warming is melting ice caps, causing temperatures to rise, and causing droughts and floods.
Global warming and climate change is something that is going to do great harm to the world, unless we all step up and do something about it. So far, the overall worldwide temperature has increased at the fastest rate ever in recorded history. At this rate, that temperature is likely to increase by up to ten degrees in the next century, according to scientists. Now, you may be wondering “why is a gradual increase in temperatures such a bad thing?”. Even though it may seem like a harmless change, increased temperatures can actually lead to some harmful events, such as rising sea levels from melting glaciers (which would lead to flooding), destruction of natural habitats (which would lead to the extinction of many plants and animals), and higher levels of air pollution (which would cause more outbreaks of diseases). Luckily, there are ways to prevent these events from taking place, and to end global warming from continuing down this path of destruction.
Global warming is the gradual rise of the earth’s surface temperature, caused by many natural and manmade processes that continue to affect our environment. The release of carbon dioxide and methane gases are the two main contributors for the changes in the global climate patterns. Climate change causes the sea level rise, shrinking ice sheets, declining arctic sea ice, glacial retreat, extreme weather events, ocean acidification, decreased snow cover. Because of these, the food chain is affected and the population of the species are decreasing. So, global warming is one of the most serious issues that the world is facing today.
Global warming is weather patterns and temperatures that are changing rapidly and unpredictably on a global scale, according to ecologic.org.
Global warming is the rise of the Earth’s temperature.
