In the contemporary world, the importance of the environment, human lives in, which was always debatable, has now become controversial. The substantial influence of global warming has sparked the controversy over the potential impact of this trend on climate change in recent years. It can be agreed that governments as a more powerful body is responsible to control this unwanted change, however, multitude individuals claim that all companies and citizens themselves are part of the solution. This essay will examine all arguments on this contentious issue under scrutiny prior to reaching an informed conclusion. At the outset, there are numerous ways to tackle this problem, but the highly conspicuous one stems from the fact that wide range of
The argument about man’s role in climate change and the role of government, the role of industry and the role of citizens is a significant challenge that crosses all levels of government, crosses all geopolitical boundaries and crosses all sectors of business. National governments across the globe are dealing with the issue in different ways, but one overarching aspect of control and mitigation can be seen in the oversight and regulation of the electric energy industry. One significant challenge facing each nation is the cost to lower carbon emissions and the question of who will pay the additional cost for compliance. Though the cost issue is significant, a much more difficult question is whether any decision on lowering emissions can make
In recent years , there is a colossal upsurge in the number of environmental concerns with climate change being a pivotal one. Although convergent efforts, be it an individual , company or a government, are made to ease this concern. I think government play a vital role in this regard.
The debate about whether human activity or natural occurrences impacting climate changes has been plaguing scientists, politicians, and journalists across the globe for quite some time. People’s lifestyle must change if a positive effect is to be caused on the climate and recreate a safe environment. Changes such the reduction of burning less fossil fuels which reduces greenhouse gases, changes in public perception are needed to clean the environment.
Nowadays, the whole world are paying attention on the controversy about climate change and global warming. Hot topics include whether global warming is occurring, warming level in modern times, causes, effects and what that action should be taken (Science Daily). On one hand, there is a strong consensus that human and industries take main responsibility for the rapid increase of global surface temperatures in recent decades, and greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide is the major cause of global warming. Meanwhile, some people that come from organizations with
Presently, while Scientists are warning us about the deleterious effects of Global Warming, “Nonscientists” also have separate views on the same issue. This indicates that Global Warming is a controversial issue that needs to be addressed. First, we need to understand the concept of “Global Warming.” Global Warming is described as the general increase in atmospheric temperatures worldwide, which results to climate changes. According to an article titled “Global Warming,” the earth’s atmosphere contains various gases that act as a blanket to trap heat from the sun and prevent it from escaping back into space. This means that these gases prevent the earth from being cold. This continued process is known as the greenhouse effect, and the gasses that are responsible for maintaining this heat are carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. They continued, “Over time, the amount of greenhouse gases trapped in the earth’s atmosphere has increased significantly, causing worldwide temperatures to rise.” Human activities like industrialization and agriculture also play a significant role in increasing these gases. For example, the use of certain fertilizers, produce nitrous oxide and methane emissions come from the production of fossil fuels from landfills, and from livestock, they emphasized. All these evidence illustrates that we are significantly responsible for recent increases in temperatures. For this reason, it is obvious that it is a pressing human issue. This recent dramatic
Disruptive climate changes are a result of our actions. From 280 molecules of carbon dioxide in 1750 to a 384 presently is due to the rapid Industrial Revolution. The readers are convinced to an extent of the alarming increase of carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. These facts should help to galvanize people, governments, organizations and individuals to work on a better environment. My ideas about such a circumstance do not change because we humans are the cause of this depleting environment. Through discussions it was observed how globalization has greater negative than positive
There is little controversy that Climate Change is occurring. However, what is causing this rapid change in temperature is still a heated discussion. Is it a natural cycle that the world goes through? Is it all because of human activity and an increase in greenhouse gases? Or is it a mixture of both where the world goes through natural cycles, but these cycles are accelerated and intensified due to humans?
Disagreements amongst experts in the same discipline are not uncommon; it happens rather frequently and many of these disagreements have allowed for further growth and expansion in a multitude of fields of study. Even though there is only said to be one ‘truth’, many different perspectives of that truth may coexist with one another. One’s perspective is shaped by various factors, such as religion, cultural identity, history, one’s surroundings and personal experiences that have the potential to evolve over time. The intensity of contradictions emerging out of advancing claims and conflicting claims rely on the atmosphere put in place by different points of view. Contingent upon the quality and nature of claims and conflicting claims these
In today’s political climate, individuals are more polarized than ever over climate issues. We don’t see much agreement that for whatever the reason, climate change is affecting the Earth. The issues over climate change has hit the media and the environmentalist has done a lot to shined light on the issue as well but, a lot of the citizens still believe that global warming isn’t real. If we are not educated about the issues regarding a sustainable living and about the climate changes going on in current world, then the issue can’t be solved. Educating children when they are young can be a great way to teach living a sustainable life-style. We the people and the politicians need to take a stand and create awareness in schools about living a sustainable life and educate the new generations to care about the negative human impacts on the world.
One of the clearest and foremost environmental and humanitarian issue the world faces today is climate change yet, you would almost not seem to know given the little attention major News Corporations, such as ABC, NBC, FOX, and CBS spend on addressing, or even acknowledging for that matter, the issue. Just last year in 2015, all four of these major networks together spent a grand total of 146 minutes of airtime discussing climate change. To put that into perspective, all four of those major networks together spent less than one percent of one percent of the year talking about climate change, or just over two hours of the year between all four major networks. To make matters worse, not every minute of the time-consuming 146 minutes between all four major news networks that was allot to cover climate change were engaged in any serious discussion about the ramification or future implications it will have on the very near future. There are networks that find it in their best interest (FOX news in particular) to somehow argue against the science of climate change, to argue against the science backed liberal conspiracy that wants to destroy the American homeland (or something as radical as that, I’m not too sure exactly what they [crazy evangelical Christian conservatives] believe in). However, there is a bigger, more serious underlying issue here that is not fully concerned with the media coverage that climate change unfortunately receives. The underlying issue is perhaps why
Although research on climate change is quite vague about the exact degree of warming and the consequences for the natural environment, a wide range of impacts can be expected (Metz, 2011). The temperature changes and the sea level rise, this has a negative impact on food production, water availability, human health, biological environment and infrastructure in coastal areas. Vulnerability is highest in poor countries where the changes will have a devastating effect. Metz (2011) states that there is no escape from the conclusion that human beings are responsible. As a consequence, the general opinion imposes responsibility for companies to put effort in
According to Johnson (2010), the issue of climate change has been hotly debated from two main viewpoints: that global warming has resulted from human activity on the one hand; and that it is a myth resulting from flawed research and unverified scientific findings. Those who hold the former view accuse those of the latter persuasion that they are concerned more with perpetuating the fossil fuel industry than creating a safe environment for future human generations. The other side, in turn, are of the opinion that the public is far too susceptible to believe whatever they are told as soon as the scientific label is placed on it. Because of these two widely divergent opinions, the issue has been shrouded in uncertainty for many, with a third group believing that global warming does exist, but that human activity is not necessarily the main culprit. This opinion holds that natural events such as volcanic activity creates far more heat and greenhouse effects than human activity could hope to achieve. Hence, this group holds that there is little that can be done about what is essentially a natural process.
The phrase “global warming” is all too familiar for most of us. It is a matter addressing our changing climate, and it is one of the most controversial topics of the time. Issues on global warming come from recent changes in our climate: some attribute this to increased involvement with the Earth’s macro-ecosystem, and some people attribute these things to random acts of nature, and some attribute this to patterns of nature that has nothing to do with human involvement, and some people have an opinion somewhere in the middle, forming a loose and manipulable opinion or simply not forming one. Most people, even those who care little, recognize that global warming, or the change of the climate, is probably cause by some degree of human involvement. Unfortunately, there is a noticeable dividing line between viewpoints, and other variables go in to whether someone should back those view points, but this in not explicitly true for all people.
Who is involved with the climate change in California? Humans, corporations, electricity generators, petroleum refineries facilities, oil and gas production, hydrogen plants, and cogeneration. What part of the country is exactly doing the most damage? Long Beach - Los Angeles, CA. How many people are affected, according to official records? People who are residences in California, are the one who are most affected. Mostly the general people, who is in the radius of climate change. For example Sacramento, California is lacking rain which is causing lots of wildfires. Why is this issue so clearly unfair? The reason why climate change is so unfair, is because of the aftermath it causes due to our everyday activities. For example California is
“Preventing global warming from becoming a planetary catastrophe may take something even more drastic than renewable energy, superefficient urban design, and global carbon taxes” (Jamais Cascio, TED Talk). Global warming has been a highly controversial issue. Global warming is the everlasting rise in the standard temperature of earth due to widespread accumulation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which ultimately forms a layer that traps heat and warms the planet. With the temperature rising, this causes the melting of the polar ice caps. Ultimately, this causes the sea levels to rise, which can threaten lives and the environment. According to Olutoyin Fashae and Olumide Onafeso, “global sea levels have been estimated to rise significantly.” The effect of sea level rising and ocean surge is causing major impacts of climate change to the urban Lagos in Nigeria.
