The Driving Age

Raising the legal driving age from 17 to 18 is unwise as 17 year olds have a much more focused mind at this point in their lives as they are not consumed by necessities such as year 12 results, planning for the future and either obtaining or maintaining employment. Continuing to keep the driving age at 17 will lower stress in teens as it is one part of their lives that they have control over and gives them freedom which leads onto my next point, freedom.

I think the age should be lowered because kids my age already mostly know how to drive because of their friends or even their parents. If you were a teacher in 8th or 9th grade you’d see that kids my age or even younger know how to act and where to act it at. Plus when a kids sees a wreck in person it shows them that if you act stupid on the road it could end your or someone else’s life.

Due to state safety concerns many states have raised the minimum legal age to drive. The state of Virginia, which is where I live, is now thinking of doing the same. This state should be looked at with careful consideration. The state of Virginia will look at all reasons why it should not be raised before coming to a conclusion. The driving age should not be raised because it would be much harder to get a job, having another driver in a large family can help with day to day tasks, and social freedom and growing up.

In my opinion I believe that the minimum durning age should be raised . The minimum age can dangerous or not in different people's opinion. Teenagers don't have that much experience as other adults who been driving for a while . Teens it's not that they are reckless but they make simple mistakes , like failing to scan the road , misjudging driving conditions and become distracted . Some of these problems are because they can be addressed through what experts call narrative driving , having adults drivers point out to teenage passengers , examples of unsafe driving and explain to them how they are dealing with distractions on the road

Many people think it is a good idea to change the driving age from 16 to 18. They think it would reduce crashes and stress on parents. They also think it would help out parents that has jobs. However, I believe raising the minimum driving age from 16 to 18 is good because some people has a job, some have sports, and some people are responsible.

When discussing the topic of teen driving, the lack of responsibility remains the biggest concern. Teenagers do not have enough responsibility or control to be trusted with a vehicle. For example, irresponsible behavior is demonstrated by teenagers when they recklessly drive by speeding, or they choose to forego putting a seat belt on.

I don't believe that the driving age should not be changed. I think that the classroom teacher that lets you take the driver test not the hand written test, but the driving part should be a test, but they should do it more than once to really see if they are good drivers. Like when you go to drivers class they should say like “pop drive quiz” or something along those lines maybe do it six times and they have to pass every time or they can't get there license its fair if they really want their license they will try hard and take it serious no one deserves to die or hurt because some kid doesn't know how to drive or even adults mess up that's also why i think that like every four years or so everyone with a driver's license has to go and retake

The false assumptions people have about teens is unfair to the teens who are actually responsible. I as a teen understand how dangerous driving is and how I am responsible for my passengers lives while at the wheel. Why should the driving privilege given to teens at sixteen be changed because of a few bad kids? People need not to have a bad outlook on teens just because some teens are infact immature, but some adults are not very mature either. Teens just need to not be stereotypes then teenagers would not have any excuse to act up if people expected more out of them. Sixteen year olds are perfectly capable of driving, and the new found responsibility could even make teens act more mature.

Lastly, many researchers support the idea that the government should increase the age of driving to eighteen because of teen drivers' lacking of maturity. At the age of sixteen, teenagers are not mature enough in making decision and facing with problems.
