The Epic Deception This September will mark the 13 year anniversary of the modern day Pearl Harbor also known as 9/11. In these thirteen years our world has changed immensely. Our government went from being the proponents of democracy to seldom acting like tyrannical warlords. The Patriot Act suspended due process for anyone deemed an “enemy combatant”. Defense contractors were given the biggest contract in American history. As a nation, we went to two different wars and almost destroyed the world’s economy. All of this occurred to ensure our safety as citizens of this once great nation. But are we truly safer from terrorist attacks today than we were in 2001? There was a poll that appeared around the five year anniversary of 9/11 that …show more content…
Although the report was very lengthy and comprehensive there were still a lot of facts that were embellished. Other facts such as the fate of W. Trade Tower 7 were completely omitted from the report. There was no thorough investigation into why the buildings collapsed when they were reinforced to withstand the impact of a 747. Why would the people charged with investigating what occurred on this dreadful day not tell the whole story? To answer this question we need to understand who stood to benefit from an attack on American soil. Was it Al-Qaeda or the Taliban whose homes were bombed and who lost control of their very lucrative poppy fields? Or was it the defense contractors who stood to make billions if not trillions from the war that would come? As John Farmer, senior counsel to the 9/11 Commission and now dean of Rutgers Law School, said that at the beginning of the investigation, the commission “discovered that what had occurred that morning—that is, what government and military officials had told Congress, the Commission, the media, and the public about who knew what when—was almost entirely, and inexplicably, untrue…..At some level of the government, at some point in time … there was a decision not to tell the truth about what happened” (Ridgeway). There is no need to look for crazy conspiracy theories because the conspiracy is right in front of our eyes, and the people responsible are
A thorough investigation has been conducted and results from it show that Flight 93 was staged. Pessimists consider that the plane settled safely while a counterfeit plane was shot down. Other theorists trust that the passengers were butchered and their bodies disposed of (The 11 Most Compelling 9/11 Conspiracy Theories). The infamous cell phone calls were fake. Scientists have also verified that there was absolutely no way cell phone reception could have been reachable at the altitude typical airplanes fly at (The 11 Most Compelling 9/11 Conspiracy Theories). Also, where was the blood, the bodies? At the site of where the plane crashed, there was no tangible evidence of anyone being present on that plane (Bumiller). If such a crash were to present itself, one would think there would be dead bodies and blood, conveniently there were absolutely no evidence to show for. However, the Pentagon attack may be the most puzzling event of the day. Theorists maintain that the holes in the Pentagon were much smaller than a commercial American Airlines plane (Newsone). They also question why the plane was not shot down prior to its impact. Another eyebrow raiser is why was the plane flown into the one section of the Pentagon that was vacated due to renovations? Scientists have also confirmed that an aluminum plane could not have permeated the steel structure of the Pentagon; it would have simply disintegrated upon impact. (The 11 Most Compelling 9/11 Conspiracy Theories). Our nation may never know the answers to these puzzling events, but it is definitely something that makes one second guess their perception of what is right and what it wrong. It was also physically proven that the Twin Towers could not have collapsed from gravity alone. The falling of the towers appeared similar to a controlled demolition and seemed aided by the
Terrorism continues devastatingly in the United States to this day and has increasingly become a more major concern. Starting in 1886 with the Haymarket Affair, a bombing that killed 12 in Chicago, there has been an exponential increase in the amount of terrorist attacks since then. The 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center was a preface to many other terrorist attacks to follow, for example, 9/11. The destruction of this attack gave the United States a reason to fear more massacres and allowed us to increase security and protection of our nation. The biggest terrorist attack in the United States to this day is the 9/11 plane attack on the World Trade Center Towers that killed close to three thousand innocent citizens. What many people do
On September 11, 2001 terrorists apprehended 4 airplanes and committed the most heinous act in American history. They flew two planes into the world trade center, one into the Pentagon, and one crashed in a field in Pennsylvania crash killing more than three thousand American citizens. Since 9 /11many things have changed in America in relation to our national security.
Hearing his story, it made me scratch my head and think. If this was planned was it really supposed to kill thousands of people like it did? The blame for this tragedy was placed on Osama Bin Laden, by the commission report. Then why does the Most Wanted poster listing Osama Bin Laden not list the September 11th attacks (Most Wanted)? When asked that question the FBI replied, “We have no hard evidence against Osama (Loose Change Final Cut).” Without hard evidence how can one claim that he was behind it? Again, no answer was given.
The events of the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 changed not just the American way of life, but the way in which terrorism will forever be viewed. Moments after the first plane changed our way of life by crashing into the first tower, it also changed the way people will live their lives for many generations from that point forward. For the first time on Continental United States soil, America was under siege.
It has been ten years since the worst terrorist attack in the history of the United States. In the decade since the September 11, 2001 attacks, the U.S. has been entrenched in two ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Department of Homeland Security was founded, and Osama bin Laden, the alleged perpetrator of the attacks, has been killed. The Patriot Act and other legislation increased surveillance while decreasing our civil liberties. Here's a look at how the attacks and America's reaction to them still affect American lives today.
In my analysis, I’ve come to the conclusion that the United States is in fact safer than it was over 16 years ago. The United States has taken up a numerous amount of measures to protect itself from any external and internal threat, such as the most memorable and unfortunate attacks of al Qaeda when they crashed planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. In the time since we have had two wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, spent hundreds of billions of dollars to improve security and strengthen intelligence capabilities. Not only that but after nearly a decade, al Qaeda leader and the man that orchestrated the 9/11 attacks, Osama bin Laden was killed in 2011 in Pakistan by U.S. special forces. They have since kept
The U.S. suffered a very terrible blow September 11, 2001 when a terrorist group named Al-Qaeda hit our country with a series of terrorist attacks in New York and VA which claimed the lives of more than 3000 people, and left us speechless, hurt, without many loved ones and puzzled on how it happened. Before that there had been several attacks such as the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City in 1993 and of the Federal building in Oklahoma two years later known as the Murrah Building ( Kano, Wood, M., Bourque, L. B., & Mileti, D. S., 2011).
September 11th 2001, the day that changed America forever. On this day, 3,000 Americans including civilians, police officers, firefighters and paramedics were innocently murdered by al-Qaeda terrorist. Commercial airline planes were used as missiles and flown into the World Trade Center in NY, the Pentagon in the nations capital, and in a open field in Pennsylvania. For America being the most technology advanced nation in the world, along with having the largest, strongest and most advance military, it is hard to understand how these horrific acts of terrorism could have happened on U.S. soil. After the World Trade Center bombings in 1993 and the Oklahoma City bombing at the Murrah building, one would think that we would have learned for
Terrorist attacks has changed the United States tremendously. Since 9/11 there are striker laws that have been passed, more security in known places that terrorist have targeted before. For Example, flying on an airplane or at an airport is totally different since the terrorist attack occurred. “The TSA already uses behavior detection screeners at airports to spot out terrorist and other dangerous travelers through subtle clues in the way these individuals act” (Maras, 2013, p.347). These security measures are just the beginning of how things have changed. Furthermore, citizens are now more cautions of where they go on vacation and people who supposedly look like terrorists can be frightening and bring up those memories. The victims and many
Over the past 14 years we have grown as a nation, we have become stronger and more prepared since the dark day that was September 11th 2001. On that date was the most memorable and talked about events in modern day society. It’s a day that will go down in infamy and can never be absolved from our memories. The fact of the matter is that we were never truly prepared for something so heinous and evil, we never really expected anything like that could ever occur, were we ever wrong. We have been expecting the worst to happen ever since, security has been amped up and strengthened to make sure nothing like that can ever happen again.
We’ve had other terror attacks after 9/11 such as the Boston Marathon bombings and the San Bernardino terror attacks, but 9/11 was the last major terror attack. 9/11 was major, we weren't prepared for something so major like that. If you think about whether or not we are prepared for something on that level today I think we would be capable of foiling that attack before it even happened. Our airport security is very strict nowadays. We are well equipped for an attack like that today. Did we actually move on too fast? I don't believe we did. Following the attacks, many changes had to be enforced. these were major changes and they took a few years to sync in. One major change was with less people traveling and even leaving their houses (especially in major cities). Traveling became more of a hassle due to increased security and more restrictions as to what you could bring, and x-ray body scanners. Tourism experienced a rapid decline after 9/11, but more then tourism and traveling was just being able to leave your home and go to work while still feeling safe. The Department of Homeland Security became the major organization after 9/11. The Department of
On the morning of September 11th 2001, America suffered one of most deadly and well-known terrorist attacks in history. With over 3,000 deaths and damage to New York City and the Pentagon, America went into shock in under two hours. 20% of Americas knew of a family member, friend, or co-worker who suffered a causality in the attack. The Dow Jones Industrial Average suffered its greatest one day drop since the Great Depression, our nation’s worst economic period. The American people were placed in a situation they had never been before. They lost hope in government and its ability to protect our nation’s boundaries and our nation’s people. Troops were sent into Afghanistan and Iraq within months to protect our nation. Yet the American
September 11, 2001 marked the most horrific day in history for United States of America. The events of this day changed the lives of those residing in America forever. United States was considered somewhat safe, in regards to terrorists’ attacks. However, this all came to a screeching halt when 19 militants known to be a part of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group hijacked four planes for the purpose of destroying targeted areas in the United States. As a result of the deadly attack on the United States, security measures drastically changed. Although, security measures throughout the United States have been in place, extreme caution came into effect. All departments looked at different measures to improve preventing terrorists’ attacks.
How safe is the United States than what it was before 9/11 incident(s)? In August 2006, President Bush made comments to the effect that the U.S. was “safer than it was prior to 9/11” but added that “it is a mistake to believe there is no threat to the United States of America” (Martin, 2006). President Bush spoke directly of the thwarted terrorist plot that focused on using liquid explosives. The actors were going to smuggle the liquid explosives on board the aircraft, constructed on board while the aircraft was in flight, and then detonated. The fundamental goal of such a terrorist attack (or plot) against the U.S. is to instill and spread fear amongst the local populace, commit mass murders, and cause chaos throughout larger metropolitan cities with significant
