The Patriot
The Patriot is known as this action packed, adventurous movie, and most americans have watched this movie despite the fact of its inaccuracies, also depicting america as great and the british as bad. This movie takes place in 1776, this was before the declaration of independence was signed and a idea was proposed about breaking away from the king and initiating a new nation was great but arguable. Not all the americans wanted to be independent from Great Britain, there was separation between the rebels and the colonials ,the rebels that wanted have to freedom and the Colonials that wanted to stay faithful to the king, america was nowhere near to united. The boston incident turned into a civil war. Later on, loyalists saw the british military as a authorized army, therefore loyalists joining the army because they were nationalistic like the rebels. However, in the movie they point out one loyalist because in the movie The Patriot they depict the americans in a positive light because if they stuck to true history they couldn't do that and would make the americans look bad.
The filmmakers modified the history to put them in positive light for example they created this American hero named Benjamin Martin they depict him to be this heroic, flawless hero but in fact he is not even a person in history he is a made up fictional character based on francis marion and made up of other historical figures. Furthermore, they showed america united when in fact they were
Have you ever seen “The Patriot”? If you have do you know the truth behind it because some parts really happened and some parts didn’t. Meaning that “The Patriot” is somewhat historically accurate. The Patriot is somewhat historically accurate because the main character Benjamin Martin was not a real person he was based on Francis Marion, the Battle of Cowpens was exactly the same because the colonist had extra help to fight off the British, and the surrender of Colonel Cornwallis was somewhat alike because his army could not get around the French and the colonist in history and in the movie. So “The Patriot” has many differences and similarities to history.
1776 is a film about the path to American independence. Specifically the actions and conversations that the continental congress took part in. John Adams is the first character that is introduced in the movie. He has proposed the Idea of American independence before the congress 23 times and has been rejected every time because Adams is perceived as obnoxious and disliked within the congress. Adams goes to Benjamin Franklin for help getting congress to listen to him and Franklin suggests that they get Richard Henry Lee to propose Independence instead of Adams, because the congressmen like Lee more than Adams. Richard Lee then proceeds to go to his home colony of Virginia to get approval for the resolution. Lee comes back to Philadelphia
Colonialists were in search of a better life in the newly discovered land of the Americas. Ties with their mother-country of Britannia, over three thousand miles away, resulted in miscommunication and arguments. Eventually these arguments and miscommunications lead to the Revolutionary War, provoking many American Colonists to join the Continental Army. Each soldier from the militia to the regular recruits had reasons to fight; many of these reasons were influenced by the first Age of Enlightenment and other reasons were formed by personal experiences with the conflicts of Britannia and the American Colonies. The movie, The Patriot, presented many reasons that are supported by major historical documents, such as the Declaration of
The war seemed to separate the colonists into three separate groups. Ones that were loyal to Britain, which were called “loyalists”. Most loyalists had “business ties” with Britain and saw being on Britain’s side of the war as being “defenders”. While other loyalists despised those that rebelled and assumed their reason to rebel was to obtain more money from the empire. The second group was with George Washington called the “Patriots”, who were fighting for the freedom from Britain, and the third group were people that were trying to go about their lives and not get involved in the war. Though slaves were asked to participate in the war, most went to Britain’s side in exchange for freedom. In 1775, Washington and his army win the battle at Saratoga and this ultimately wins over France as an
SS General Reinhard Heydrich was in charge of the “Reich security” and appointed to lead the infamous Wannsee Conference. This conference featured many established leaders in the Nazi Party, SS, and German government and gets its name from the location of the meeting, a wealthy German suburb. The purpose of this conference was to inform the slightly lower ranking German leaders of the “Final Solution” to the ‘Jewish question.’ The movie Conspiracy focuses on the Wannsee Conference and shows the influence on many of the aforementioned leaders. Kenneth Branagh, the actor that portrays Heydrich, is able to successfully imitate his commanding presence throughout the film with his use of body language and tone. From the opening scene of the
The movie, The Patriot, is the story of a South Carolina plantation owner, Benjamin Martin, who leads a local militia against British troops in the South during the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. Martin, who is a widower with six children and a veteran of the French and Indian War, wants nothing to do with the war until a brutal British Colonel, William Tavington, kills one of his sons and takes his eldest son, a member of the Continental Army, prisoner. Martin, who’s character is loosely based on Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox, uses guerrilla warfare to cut British supply lines and attack outposts in an attempt to slow General

Movies are made to be sold and not history to be perfectly told. If movies include a complete history, it wouldn't be known as a movie anymore. However, it would be called a documentary, which most people get fed up of. So interpretations, exaggerations and idealistic scenes are added to the movie to make it more interesting for the audience. "The Patriot" is a similar film made during the modern day time about a time period in which none of the experienced the real revolution. Politically, socially, and culturally, "The Patriot" attempts to give a sense of the scope of aspects involved in the American Revolution. Despite succeeding in this regard, it still lacks details that reveal the true complexity of the mixed sentiments present in
The Patriot. A person who is willing to fight for their country against enemies. The Patriot begins in the year 1776 in the colony of South Carolina. Mel Gibson plays a planation farmer who fought in the French-Indian war named Benjamin Martin. A War was about to begin and Benjamin wanted no share partaking in the soon-to-be American Revolutionary War. He was more concerned about his two eldest sons who wanted to fight under General George Washington. The beginning of the movie starts out with Benjamin Martin peacefully living with his kids whom no longer have a living mother. Benjamin’s oldest son, Gabriel, joins the war without permission from his father. As the rest of the family are at home one afternoon, Colonel William Travington burns the Martin Plantation to the ground and his second oldest son was killed immediately for interrupting Travington’s plan. Benjamin finds a way to seek revenge because of the rage he experiences after his family is hurt. He begins to realize that he needs to fight for his children and he will not do it alone. Both Benjamin and his oldest son, Gabriel, decide to join the militia as a way of showing what they are capable of. Throughout the film, Benjamin Martin becomes a soldier whom others respect and admire. He shows the militia what it means to truly care for not only his men, but also for his family. As the film progresses, a turn of events take place that show Benjamin’s continued want of revenge against General Charles Cornwallis. The Continentals and the militia soon commence the battle at Cowpens. This is when Benjamin Martin meets his enemy, Travington, who murdered his two eldest sons. After a drawn-out battle, Benjamin stabs Travington in the neck and kills him for the sake of his children. It is then that General Cornwallis retreats his forces and the rest celebrate. Even though some portions of The Patriot aren’t as accurate as we perceive, it is a film full of war and despair, but also a film that contributes to the importance of dignity and the love for one’s family.
The events surrounding the Boston Massacre exposed sharp divisions in the British colonies in North America with two distinct rival groups emerging, namely, the Loyalists and Patriots. The Loyalists were dedicated supporters of the British Crown whereas the Patriots were independence-minded colonists keen to break away from English rule. As a result, both feuding parties would seek to promote their own agenda without regard for core values such as accuracy and impartiality.
During the late 1700s conflict arose between the greatest power in the world known as Great Britain and the colonies of America. The conflict that occurred is well known today as the Revolutionary War. While a lot of people see the Revolutionary War as America united together while fighting for freedom from the British government there were those in America who sought to stay loyal to the crown. As with any conflict, there are always two sides of the coin. Loyalists saw separation from England as a toxic idea that would only cause war and a reduction in wealth of America’s people while Revolutionists saw the need for freedom from all oppression, treachery and unfair taxation.
Sabina Berman is a notable and critically acclaimed Mexican playwright. Berman’s notable work includes her first published play, Yankee (1979). In Adam Versényi’s translation of Yankee, Berman explores the relationship between the individual and identity. Through the three main characters—Bill, Alberto, and Rosa—we see the continual conflict they face as they aspire to achieve their respective objectives: to feel nurtured and loved, to have peace and quiet, and to feel loved and acknowledged. But it is Berman’s interjection of juxtapositions that forces us to analyze the relationship between the main characters. More specifically, Berman focuses on the impact Bill has as an intruder, and how he highlights the national identity incompatibilities between North American and Mexican cultures, to expose the serious social and political problems between the nations.
Does hollywood make historical movies less of what actually happened just to make them more exciting. The Patriot, a movie about a father going into the revolutionary war. To start with, the military aspect of the movie was accurate in its treatment of slaves, and the depicted actions of soldiers. The Patriot was correct in showing that both sides committed war atrocities. The colonists when they were shown killing surrendering British soldiers, and the British when they burned people alive in the church. In the article by Slate, it states that both the British and Americans did commit war crimes by killing those who surrendered, but there was no mention of any general locking civilians in a church and burning it. Another way The Patriot was correct, was in the way it depicted the treatment of slaves. The movie shows one slave being forcibly enlisted by his master. Later, he learns of the freedom and payment he may earn shall he continue to serve in the Continental Army. At the end of the movie it
