Goals and Philosophy:
Visual Merchandisers have many employment options available in many different sectors. I believe that displays are all encompassing. It is the little details that culminate a theme or feel that makes customers want to shop at a particular store and have a certain type of experience depending on who they are. It is all about making an environment whether a store, a party, a home, etc. as inviting and welcoming as possible. I strongly believe that there is so much inspiration out there that can be used to create compelling store displays that provoke consumers to shop and help maximize a store’s profits. This is an interesting field where not only are artistic skills necessary, but also the ability to merchandise the sales floor and make every visual aspect of a store experience enjoyable.
My art is inspired by popular culture, the work of other artists in similar fields, and the work of surrealist artists. The prospect of being able to have a job that comprises of creativity and a unique perspective motivates me to pursue a career in art and design. I want to be able to have a job that I feel is rewarding and where each day is somewhat different from the next which is possible with visual merchandising because retail is always changing visually to keep up with trends and seasons.
In the short term I hope to get a visual merchandising internship or job where I can get more experience and use my skills that I have learned, in the retail environment. In
“the characteristics, key events, and situations which compose the essentials of human existence, such as birth, growth, emotionality, aspirations, conflict, and mortality.” The diversity of the human condition can be thought of as the very broad topic which has been and continues to be pondered and analyzed from many perspectives, including those of religion, philosophy, history, art, literature, anthropology, psychology, and biology,” (Human Condition).

The combination of my vision, and personal style drives me to seek a career elated to brand representation, health and beauty/wellness advocacy, or fashion/brand marketing.
A graphic technology major makes products galore which is another reason I want to major in this! By using their creativity along with being hands on lets them create products a common person would not think of. I recently toured Sign Pro in Ames, Iowa. I was shown all of the different papers that are printed on along with signs they were making; which reminded me of the products I make with vinyl. When one of their workers showed me a design they were working on; so then, I recognised the software they used along with the effects used to make the image what it looked like. After visiting, I was excited for I wanted to work in a shop similar Sign Pro and start now. When I drove home, I realized how much I loved making products due to recognising types of signs used for advertisement that I could make.
I’ve always known that I wanted to pursue art education. Ever since I was a little girl, seven years old to be specific, I have wanted to be an art teacher. I remember vividly sitting in my second grade art class talking to my teacher and realizing that everyone has different skills and abilities, and that perhaps art was going to be mine. It was there in Country View Elementary School that I became fascinated with colors and the idea that an artist can start with nothing and create a masterpiece. Soon after that I came to the conclusion that I needed to do art every single day of my life. This realization that I loved creating art continued, and when I was in middle school and beginning of high school I spent several summers at a summer art camp. The camp
In Elizabeth Bishop’s poem, One Art, it displays the acceptance Bishop has for losing things. Each stanza the losses get more significant, until she finally displays the one thing she can’t accept losing. Elizabeth Bishop uses techniques such as verse form and repetition to display her feelings toward those losses.
What question or problem was the author trying to figure out? resolve? prove? or argue?
Ever since the first grade when I would hear the wheels of Miss Arthur’s art cart coming down the hall to our classroom, I could feel the excitement of what was to come. The knowledge that we were about to see something wonderful and get to try our hand at it. To this day when I step in a classroom I get the same feeling, a feeling of endless possibilities. The art room is a place for hands on learning that lets the student explore mediums and problem solve in their own unique way. When teaching art I constantly ask myself “Is this something I would want to do?” because if I wouldn’t want to do it, then I could not sell the idea to a class full of students! If I am excited about an idea I will be able to express this

Throughout this chapter it demonstrates the involvement and understanding of the seven principles of art. “The principal of art are the guidelines or the organizing factors in the visual arts that help artists to create designs and control how viewers likely react to art images and objects.” The topics that are included in this chapter are unity and variety; proportion; balance; emphasis; pattern and repetition; rhythm and movement. All of these topics demonstrates how they tie in with one another to create a piece of art.
The purpose of art and its felicity lies both in its aesthetic quality as well is the instructive capacity of art, wherein the various perspectives employed by artist 's help to understand the particular period in which the work was created and the influences that may have attributed to the final product. The early 19th century in Europe was marked by a desire to return to the classicism of the Greek and Roman empires as it connoted a sense of stability after the upheaval of the French revolution which had brought down existing social, political and economic structures to an end. The work ofJoseph Anton Koch, a German painter who chose to live in Rome and imbibe the traditions of the classicists shows in his work a clear attachment to the values of linear composition and idyllic subject matter and this is clearly apparent in his monumental workHeroic Landscape with Rainbow, now a part of the European gallery at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York City. This work is an apt illustration of the manner in which the neoclassical tradition of landscape painting became an important part of the works of European painters of the early 19th century as a means of portraying the kind of society which people aspired to after the upheavals of the late 18th century.
“And the ones who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music”-Friedrich Nietzsche. This is something i follow because everyone is different and people are judged for being who they are. I believe that they should be free to do what they please because it is harming no one. With everyone being free and different we all have ways and things that define us. Any one should have to opportunity to define themselves anyway they would like just like what defines me is my hair, my art, and my love for animals. I have some stories that go well with the lesson at the end of each day. everything that I have listed that defines me is a part of me that I never want to lose.
My long term goal is to be able to work for an interior furnishing or décor company like Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware or Room and Board. I would like to do the set visuals for the catalog shoot. To achieve this I plan to work hard to make myself marketable and stand out in the industry. My next step to achieve my goal is to network with people within these companies, while still keeping my options open for other job prospects. After I graduate I hope to work within one of these companies as an assistant visual merchandiser and work my way up the ladder. By starting at the bottom you learn every job, the required tasks and the company’s structure. With this goal I intend to finish my degree, continue learning the craft and skills, networking and eventually working for one of these companies.
The history of art dates back to ancient times. Artwork can be, and was, found around the world. What makes art interesting is that it can be created in any way, shape or form with any materials. It seems that the artwork can also tell us a lot about the artist. Art seems to be simply, a direct, visual reflection of the artist’s life. Therefore, one can assume that an artist’s life experiences and beliefs directly influence their art. If we look at examples from different periods of art we will be able to see the connection between the artist and the art.
Cubism was always an interpretation of objective reality, of a given motif. But Kandinsky was to initiate was by contrast essentially and deliberately non-objective. Kandinsky’s own experience was personal and even apocalyptic.
