About six million Jews were killed during the Holocaust. Anne Frank was one of these humans but her story is beyond incredible. Her family had been living in Amsterdam, Holland for many years and they had lived peacefully. When the Nazi’s invaded Holland their lives changed drastically. The Frank family, Van Daan family, and Dussel are forced to go into hiding in the small area above Mr. Frank’s work site. They lived there for two years, 1942-1944, until the Nazi’s found them. Throughout the play, Anne Frank’s story is powerful as she is transformed from a fearful child to a brave woman. At the start of the play, Anne is an immature and fearful child. “It’s the silence in the nights that frightens me most. Every time I here a creak in the
Many people were hurt by Adolf Hitler's plans and one thing he achieved was killing six million Jewish people including children. Anne Frank and her family were one of them. They lived in a secret and tiny annex where Otto used to work. They started off just going to stay there for a few months till the Allied Forces could invade Holland but that didn’t work out. In the drama wrote by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett eight people crowded into annex for 2 long years not being able to go outside. Many historical events were impacted in the drama Anne Frank. “More than 70 years after the Holocaust, the horrors of Rwanda, Srebrenica, and Darfur are sobering reminders that preventing future genocides and mass atrocities remains an enormous challenge”(Obama P 3). In the novel Forgotten Fire, Vahan Kenderian shares his experiences through the Armenian War and Genocide, where his family and most of his people were killed. In the book, The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne explains her thoughts and feelings, during some of her teen years, and her experiences through World War Two and the Holocaust. Anne Frank and Martin Luther King Jr. were born in the same year, yet people associate them as being in completely separate parts in history. Anne Frank was a woman who went through the horrors of the holocaust and wasn’t lucky enough to survive the brutality and torture. When you look back on the accounts of treatment of the people in the concentration camps, you see more stories about the men’s lives. People seem to only hear about the men, but what about the women and how they were treated during this time as well. Women had it worse than men during the holocaust because they were more susceptible to rape, they were immediately brutalized and killed for being pregnant, and they were killed for simple
The Holocaust is one of the deadliest genocides in the world with more than eleven million deaths, six million of which were Jews, by the fascist German Nazis in the 1930s and 1940s. The Diary of Anne Frank is a classic piece of literature that has taught numerous minds about the life of a Jew named Anne Frank in hiding during World War II and the Holocaust. This iconic diary has been rewritten and formatted into a play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. In the play, Anne Frank hides in a loft, in the building where her father used to work, with seven other people, three being her family. One of the residents in the loft includes Peter Van Daan, the son of the Van Daans. While living in the “Secret Annex” for more than two years, Peter is seen as a dynamic character who was first shy and introverted, then evolved into a bad-tempered and violent person.
The Holocaust is something we have all learned about in school, hearing about the terrible events that occurred and the hatred in the world, but not many people have heard the story of Anne Frank and her family. Unless you have read the book. Fortunately, the BTE put on an amazing production of “The Diary of Anne Frank”. This play is something everyone should see because of the lessons within it and the relevance to today.
Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany to a Jewish family on June 12, 1929 and died March 1945 in Bergen-Belsen. Her family consists of her mother Edith, her father Otto Frank and her sister named Margot who was often very ill.
It is the year of 1942. Hitler has taken power in Europe. Eight Jews went into hiding after Hitler’s decision to exterminate the Jews. The eight, helped by the helpers, had to live together in a tiny attic with fear of Hitler’s green police. Events outside caused them to change the way they act to each other. They became more stressed each day.
The event known as the holocaust was a horrible event for jews, many suffered and millions died. The invasion of the allies affected the moods of the characters by when getting the news
The play version of The Diary Anne Frank tells a story of a teenage girl, her family, another family, and a dentist who have gone into hiding from the Nazis during World War II. Anne struggles growing up and discovering her independence whilst being trapped in an attic with seven other known people. While the play is still extensively read and seen today, a newer movie version of Anne’s life has taken the events of this play to share Anne’s life with a more modern audience. In the movie, the audience watches Anne transition from her average life in Amsterdam to her life in the hidden annex. Although the play and movie versions differ in the feelings of the characters, both focus on the same central conflicts and Peter’s relationship with Anne.
At the beginning of the play it started out with a narrator telling the background story. Act one starts when Anne and her family are in the attic. There is a new family that have just arrived to their hiding place. Anne is excited but quickly is shut down since she needs to be quite. Anne frank and her family are living during world war two. Their hiding place is an above office where Otto used to work. The employees from the building help her family survive. They would supply hem with food and medicine when needed. They as well run a risk if getting arrested as well if the Germans found out they were helping them. The people looking out for them have more people to hide. So toward the end of Act one, one more person is included to the attic. One of the families are against it. They argue that there is limited space and food. Otto Anne’s father is a very compationant man, and he agrees to let the person come in to the
On January 30, 1939 Adolf Hitler addressed the German Reichstag stating, “If the international Jewish financiers in and outside Europe should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, then the result will not be the Bolshevization of the earth, and thus the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe!” Hitler had believed that the Jewish people throughout Europe were enemies of his people in Germany. The best way to stop this was to wipe out the population of Jews throughout Germany, as he established over 40,000 concentration camps killing many of the Jews who went there. One of those Jewish people who went to a concentration camp was 15 year-old Anne Frank who wrote about her struggles in her diary writing, “I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.” Frank died in Auschwitz believed from typhus a disease that is transported by lice, ticks, mites, and rat fleas giving the person a purple rash, headaches, and a high fever. Her disease gives us now the feeling of how these concentration camps were. Upon arrival at the camps the enslaved prisoners of war would receive their prisoner uniforms with their serial number along with a tattoo of their same serial number. However, the prisoners that were instructed to go into a gas chamber which killed them instantly were not marked and not seemed important. The gas chambers were first used in the later months of 1939 releasing poison gas into a

To begin, Adolf Hitler’s plan killed over six million people in World War two, about 1.5 million children were killed out of all of those people. For one thing, Anne was one of those people who died in the war. Also, Anne Frank and her friends stayed in hiding from the Nazis for two years, throughout those two years, Anne kept a diary that is a famous drama today. Then they published the diary in 1952, seven years after the war had ended. Also important that the attic that was very small and cramped, 8 people had managed to live in it. They had thought they were going to live in the attic for just a couple of months but it ended up being for two years. In the drama today, historical events that told Anne and those other 7 people, was a big impact on their lives. They lived hoping to survive the war until it had come to an end. The historical events in the drama Anne frank impact and change the characters and the moods throughout the play.
