People like to be consisted with the things they previously said or done, because of this I’ve picked Consistency out of the 6 elements of persuasion discuss on the video. By being consistent people will start to recognize me because it will help them to remember me, I can use this in my daily interactions with my teachers and fellow classmate. Being consistent will help to achieve my goal, by being consistent at my work, it will help me to improve my work ethics because I will notice if somethings wrong with my work by being consistent. Being consistent to my work, people at my work will start to recognize me as a hard worker and by this people will start to trust me and my work. One of my goals is to get my degree and finish my studies with
Being able to communicate effectively builds trust, respect, enhances learning and accomplishes goals. Within my job role the level of communication I have to uphold has to be one of paramount importance. I have a role of great responsibility dealing with clients and their families or advocates, internal staff and external agencies. Therefore, my communication has to be clear and concise whilst I am conveying instruction and information. I consider communication to be successful
1) When dealing with a stubborn audience, you need to appeal to their opinions before you appeal to your own
“Communication works for those who work AT it.”—John Powell. I love this quote for so many different reasons. I learned throughout this course that human beings are so selfish. We never fully listen to understand, but instead we listen to respond. Through the communication and conflict management course, there were many different things that I discovered not only about myself, but also about others. Throughout the duration of the module, I learned about three different theories.
Many people all over the world are using various techniques to convince people during arguments. The most popular ones are ethos, pathos, and logos. Depending on the statement that the reader is trying to send out to the audience, he/she uses a specific persuasive argument. Reliable and convincing arguments contrast one another since reliable arguments are based on the credibility of the speaker whereas convincing arguments are based on proven facts. The credibility of the speaker helps the reliability of the arguments, and this makes the people believe that what the speaker is saying must be true.
I describe myself as a person who is willing to be persuaded. An example of persuasion is literature. The novel The Great Gatsby has influenced my perspectives of the American Dream, and how some circumstances can never truly change. The novel showed that the American Dream will never be fulfilled as long as society changes with it. The main character, Jay Gatsby, has achieved a ‘rags-to-riches’ miracle in order to impress the girl he is in love with: Daisy Buchanan.
My persuasion skills were also thought to be strong as was ability to motivate and empathise and bring people round to my way of thinking. One respondent commented that I have a “very nice way of nagging people”.
There are the writing principles, which are Audience analysis, Ethos, Pathos, Logos, and Motivating action, to write an effective persuasive message. According to the textbook, Newman ()describes “audience analysis will help you to understand your message from reader’s perspective. Checking who the audience is, what your relationship with the audience is, how the audience will likely react, what the audience already knows, and what unique about the audience is helps to analize the audience (107).” Understanding the audience is the basic point to persuade people. The audience is different every time, so who a decision maker is, what she/he want, and why she/he should read or hear the message are also different. People cannot create same persuasive message all the time. The contents and tone of the message depend on the audience. Understanding the audience helps to create contents.
to persuade may be lost. For effective persuasion, it is important to choose the medium that is most appropriate both to the message and the audience.
Non verbal cues are as important as the verbal cues. You need to respond to both in an appropriate manner. An individual who is angry
Personal reading gives the author credibility and confidence by sustaining control throughout the direction of their message. It permits the reader to understand the author’s way of thinking without objecting. When displaying the concept of persuasion of neutrality, the reader may agree with being influenced or comprehend the context of the message without disagreeing. The author may use various timeless proven principles of human nature or their own personal value systems as a way to illustrate life changing skills for growth as credibility to display trustworthiness to their reader while displaying confidence. In addition, the theory of persuasion may play a role when the reader may understand what the author believed to have been significant
One element of persuasion I chose to use from the video was reciprocity. As a future respiratory therapist, reciprocity will be encountered daily on and off the job. When a patient visits the hospital, I will be obligated to address any issues or concerns they may have. The patient and I will have a mutual understanding that I will strive to give them best care during their visit. This element can help me achieve my goal of becoming a professional by making me work harder and pay attention to
Every day consciously or subconsciously we are following proven formulas without losing our integrity. It is important to copy those who have been successful because of our morality by standing true to our own belief system, and choosing to follow proven formulas every day.
This theory was established in 1984 today it is still widely used by marketers (Cialdini, 2007).These six principles olf influence include reciprocity Which is the idea of giving a little something to get a little something in return. the next concept is commitment and it is about people wanting their beliefs to Be Consistent with Their Values. Cialdinis next Principle is Social Proof where there's Nothing Like Feeling Validated Based on what others Are Doing. The threes Principle of authority meaning You Will Obey Me! Principle of Liking: The more You Like Someone, the More You'll Be Persuaded by
Without rules and regulations all civilization would plunge into chaos, as there would be nothing protecting us from one another’s most basic self serving instincts, and sometimes self-destructive habits. Often time’s simple rules and regulations protect us from ourselves, such as not touching a hot furnace or driving through an intersection when the light is red. If we look just at laws of the road one can quickly see how many devastating accidents would occur (and how many lives would be ruined) if no one followed the rules of the road. Without the utmost care to follow these rules, things that could easily be prevented may happen, resulting in very negative things.
Surrounded in a world full of information, people are able to form their own perspectives on subjects about the world. When reading others’ perspectives, people want to see the claims and theories introduced to be backed up by reliable sources. That way, the author makes his point and can persuade others to take a step back and look at a subject from a fresh perspective. Every level of writer, whether in high school or graduate school, needs to provide support behind claims made. This is an aspect of the responsibility of a writer that maintains a sense of credibility. On NPR’s radio show, Fresh Air, Terry Gross interviews journalist Tom Wainwright about his book, Narconomics. Tom Wainwright’s support is effective
