Music is a way of life and imaginative creativity for many people around the world. Music links people together no matter what type of genre they listen to. One of the different sub-cultures of music is classical music. Classical music defines music from the medieval period to the modern age and bears as a foundation for other types of music. Even though most people consider classical music to be boring, it is innovative and enjoyable to listen to. Classical music listeners listen for a variety of reasons such as relaxation, remembrance, and emotional quality. These listeners listen to various periods of classical music the most profound being the baroque period, classical period, and impressionist period. The baroque period is one of the oldest time periods in classical music from the 1600s to 1750s. This period of music is commonly listened to because of the famous composers of that time and the harmonious, contrasting (a melodic element to add drama), and chorus-like sound created. One of the most renowned composers in the baroque period was Johann Sebastian Bach. The most notable work of Bach was his composition of the Six Sonatas and Partitas. The individual parts in each partita and sonata were carefully constructed to convey emotion and vivid imagery of colors through each chord progression of the song. For example, one of the most famed, difficult violin solo compositions he wrote was the Chaconne from Partita No. 2 (Chaconne). This work by Bach was written during a
The Classical period of music has also been called the “Rococo” period. The Classical time period was between the 18th and 19th centuries. Spanning the years of 1750-1820. The transition from the Baroque period to the Classical took the music from polyphonic to homophonic where even though it seems like that would make the music less complex we look at a whole different type of complexity. The music typically contained two different melodies and a contrast in sections. This made the chords in the music much more defined and the tonal part of the music became more defined. The Classical period had a significant influence on several aspects of music. Chamber music had a sonata form. This means it had an exposition, a transition, and a recapitulation. Composition in the Classical time was mainly dominated by eclecticism which made the music more diverse. Concerto was driven at first by the Italians. They started the idea of the solo concerto. Orchestration was mainly developed during this musical time period. This is partly due to some of the most talented musicians that lived during this time. They did a lot of work in making the orchestra mainly string instruments. Some of these being the violin, viola, cello, and the contrabass, just to name a few. All of these things had a great influence in the way the music made the transition from the Baroque period to the Classical period.
The Baroque period began around the 1600’s until around the 1750’s. The Baroque era of music was one of the most revolutionary periods in music history. This era saw the development of functional tonality, brought new instrumental playing techniques and more elaborate and complex compositions. Baroque music was complex, tonal, and had clear common patterns of chords. This era also featured many well-known composers, such as Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi. This era also brought about developments in musical terms and concepts which are still used in today’s music.
The Baroque Era started in 1600 and lasted till 1750. Some of the famous composers from the Baroque Era include Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Handel, and JS Bach. Music in Baroque society became amusement for aristocrats, modern orchestra began to evolve, and the idea of opera are beginning to develop. In many Baroque pieces the use of a Basso Continuo, which is played by two instruments typically a keyboard and a member of the strings family was found in many pieces during this time. The Baroque period can be characterized with clear and distinct meter, repeated rhythmic patterns, homophonic texture, and terraced dynamics. The Baroque is also classified by its distinct genres including Fugue, Solo Concerto, and Cantata. The Ritornello form being introduced had an impact on Baroque music because it is outlined using harmonic progressions, key modulations, and motives from the main theme in order to give character to a piece.
Music has evolved too many different forms that we recognize today. We trace this development throughout time. Beginning in the middle ages, we have seen advancement from the Gregorian chant all the way to the Jazz of the 20th century. The current events, politics, religion, technology and composers can shape musical eras during time. Here I will look at the middle ages, renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic and twentieth century periods. I hope that a better understanding can be reached to why, when, where and who are the reasons for musical evolution.

From 1600 to 1750, Western Europe music was known as the Baroque period. The most known composers of this era were Bach, Vivaldi and Handle. Their music and styles inspired the people of their time and continue to do so 400 years later in the modern world. The Baroque era was considered a time of flamboyant lifestyles; a style that “filled the space.” When the church began to distance themselves from the political control of Europe, composers began to come up with more radical styles to be used in their pieces that had not been seen before. For this reason, Baroque music became known for its highly energetic and dramatic styles. Of course, behind this great music came amazingly talented composers who made it all happen. Perhaps one of the

Today, Classical music isn 't considered to be the most popular genre of music, but as I seen at MJC 's "Frozen - A family Holiday Choral Concert", the audience really enjoyed the songs that fell into this genre. Whether one realizes it or not, we hear classical music more than we think. When one is on hold with their doctor 's office, at an upper scale department store, or even at a fancy restaurant, more than likely the type of music being played is classical. The Classical music period originated in the mid-1700 's and lasted until the mid-1800 's. A lot of people don 't realize, but classical music is still being composed today, but is much different than what it was hundreds of years ago. Most of the texture in classical music has multiple parts that tend to move in the same rhythm, which is homophonic. One can hear simple classic instruments, such as: strings, woodwinds, percussion, and brass when listening to this genre. Some of the well-known forms of music today, such as: symphonies, sonatas, concertos and orchestras all derived from classical music.
Know once you have adopted these three roles, there is another all I would like you to assume, this I think just paints the whole picture, this is sort of the background canvas of which you paint the rest of this portrait. You need to understand something the parents these days have long since forgot, and are going to have to relearn again your grandparents knew this, but today’s generation appearance doesn’t seem to, and that is you do not get to design your children, nature would never have permitted that to, evolution would not have allowed a generation of a species to be so influenced by the previous generation, it hasn’t happened and it doesn’t happen, and it especially doesn’t happen in children, you do not design your children, and
Back in Medieval times, music was crude, extremely limited, costly, and exhausting to write. It was and used mainly for church services. The music used in the church were mainly choir chants; only men and young boys could sing in the choir due to the church rules. Next came the praise worthy baroque period. Figured bass, preludes, ornamentations, trills, mordants, and various new musical forms developed, such as the etude or sonata. In this part of musical history, the composers Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi were the cream of the crop. Baroque’s musical characteristic consisted usually of detached, staccato accents, light metered rhythms, and fast precise notes. Next came the classical period, where the staccato accents still stayed within the music, but the light pace and styles where dropped for freer rhythms and notes. Some of the composers who wrote music in this period are some of the most widely known composers ever. Composers such as Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schubert, and Mozart were the top classical writers, but some such as Beethoven branched to both the classical and the romantic periods. The romantic period brought warmth, emotions and life into music. Pieces were no longer mechanical and orderly any more. Music was written with feeling and was written for enjoyment. Therefore, the modern period was quiet a huge jump for the general public, and most of the music after the romantic period is usually left unexplored. Though the daunting task of sorting through the various modern pieces is very tedious, it is worth it. From behind the ear-bleeding music of Rachmaninoff and the odd works of Ravel, comes many wonderful and different styles of music. Modern music's characteristics include atonally, minimalism, twelve-tone, and many other new musical devices and ornamentation. Not all modern music, however, is unusual or weird. Some composer wrote music in a revival of romantic. Gustav Mahler and Jean
The Baroque Period (1600-1750) was mainly a period of newly discovered ideas. From major new innovations in science, to vivid changes in geography, people were exploring more of the world around them. The music of the baroque period was just as extreme as the new changes. Newly recognized composers such as Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, and Monteverdi were writing entirely new musical ideas and giving a chance for new voices to be heard that were normally not thought of sounds. Their musical legacy is still recognized today, and is a treasured discovery of outstanding compositions being reiterated with every performance of them.
Music is arguably one of the world’s most important universal languages. Documentation of music can be found as early as Biblical days and can be heard all around. Think about all the places one is exposed to music: radio, TV, elevator, stores, restaurants etc. Every culture and country has its own style of music and the importance of music is paramount to individuals in many ways. Music is so powerful it can create a visceral response by lowering the heart rate and decreasing stress levels (Wright, 2017). Evidence has also shown music to activate areas of the brain that are engaged during “Other euphoria inducing stimuli such as food, sex, and drugs of abuse” (Wright, 2017, p. 3). Music, sound perception – the most powerful sense, can impact the way one feels and behaves (Wright, 2017). With evidence proving to have an impact on the brain both physically and emotionally, supporting a 5% tax increase to fund both curricular and extracurricular programs will enhance student’s development and provide to them a well-rounded education.
In 1750, the classical period of music started, and it terminated in 1810. The texture was primarily homophonic (Fuller – “Classical”), which means there is
The classical music period extends from 1740 to 1810, which includes the music of Haydn, Mozart, and the first period of Beethoven. The classical period of music combined harmony, melody, rhythm, and orchestration more effectively than earlier periods of music. With the natural evolution of music slowly changing with the culture, the baroque era had ended. That era had left a structure, articulation and periodic phrasing of music which would shape classical music.
