Upon completion of my degree, I plan to find a career, not a job, and work for the next 30 years and then retire. Who knows I might even attempt another degree or specialty in my free time now that I know I am capable of succeeding in a college environment. As previously stated I was groomed to be a worker by my father to work in his electrical company. I held a job and an apartment before I graduated making college appear to be an impossible choice and an unattainable goal at the time. Forsyth Tech has helped me learn that I can be successful in this learning environment and be confident in myself while maintaining the daily activities of life. I plan on spending quite a bit of time on getting thing caught up in my company as things have
To support my positive stance to college, Daniel Indiviglio of The Atlantic informs that “those who go to college make more money and have more opportunities than those who don’t”. Employers value a college education over a high school diploma because it shows that the candidate is committed to the position because of their advanced education and can be a more valuable asset than his less-skilled peer that’s applying for the same job. It is common knowledge having a degree offers more opportunities because of the advanced knowledge attains from that major. To further the notion that college is important, “there’s currently a big demand for college graduates” (Diviglio). Because of the high price and requirements to attend college, college graduates are sought after because they are limited and have specific knowledges in regards to their major. Gateway Community College is one of the top colleges in Arizona for HVAC because of their experienced and intelligent instructors who offer a rigorous and rewarding curriculum. Once graduated from Mountain View, the next journey will be enrolling in the Associate of Applied Science degree in air-conditioning, refrigeration, and facilities. This course is 65 to 71 credits and consists of thorough training in heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning. My degree is paramount in becoming a field technician to further my knowledge
Last year, if you were to question where I saw myself in the next few years, my answer wouldn’t have been applying to college. During that time, I had a successful career as a store manager, and for the most part, that was all I could ever see myself doing. I excelled as a store manager, and I enjoyed the frequent interactions with the various diverse individuals that I got to experience. However, I was never elated nor passionate about that career choice. In fact, I can distinctively remember the moments where I would arrive home from work in the late hours of the night, pondering if this was all there was for me.
Despite of whether going to college is worth it or not, recent college graduates have become more successful in their lives. Some people may think that attending college is a waste of time and money, while others feel that college gives them valuable skills in the real world. College will help the person gain the necessary work skills for his or her future job career. Moreover, the job that a person gets after college can outweigh the money and time the person spent in college. College graduates will be more favorable to have a better job than those who does not have a college degree. As our generation is rapidly changing, the work- force is getting tougher which means having a higher education is important in today’s world. Having a college degree is an obvious part of the candidate and is expected by the many employers. Nonetheless, going to college can also give students the opportunity network and develop personal connections among other students who are also interested in the career field.
My first short term goal is to graduate from Kent State University in the fall of 2017 with a Bachelor’s of Business administration in Business Management and a minor in Human Resource Management. As the first in my family to attend college, I feel having a business degree will help me obtain a better future and also help me professionally in a business career. To keep track of my success I could use a
As an older adult who is now going back to college, I have many experiences in my life and career that have helped me appreciate how college opens more opportunities. Like Braakma, I have also experienced backbreaking manual labor jobs; moving steel beams and working in a factory on an assembly line. These experiences made me quickly realize that I wanted a different career path. When I couldn't even lift my arms at the end of the day from exhaustion and pain, I knew I wanted to pursue higher education for the opportunity to work in the computer field. Because technology constantly changes and increases, I have continually gone to school to renew my skills. As a blue-collar worker who has gone back to college several times in my adult life, I know higher education has improved my career prospects. Now, I am now attending college as an older adult to change my career path yet again. The opportunities I am pursuing in my career will only be possible with a college degree.
There are three distinct categories of students who attend Forsyth Technical Community College: the hyper high school students, the young adult students, and the mature older students. Of course, there are outliers to each of these categories, but the majority of students fall within these three groups.
My senior year is the grand conclusion to four amazing years of my high school life. My plans are to attend an in-state university to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering and Informational Technologies. Technology has always been an interest of mine ever since I can remember--as a kid I would tear apart computers just to see how they worked. That spark of interest inspired my love for technology and made me want to pursue it as a career.
At UW-Madison, there are thousands of students attending classes there. With all of these students, the class is larger, allowing me to meet people that share a common interest with me. This allows for friendships to start, some of which, could even last a lifetime. UW-Madison’s experience also helps prepare me for the large corperate buisness scenario, from companies such as Google, Mircrosoft, and other large companies. With UW-Madison providing some of the best technilogical education, it helps prepare me for working in these large
I choose to attend Bryant University because I knew of their strong focus on business majors and their strong networking reach with potential employers for their students. Currently, I am pursuing a major in management and a minor in psychology, with the possibility of either adding another minor or changing my psychology minor into a major. I have chosen this path because in coincides with my interests with life. I enjoy working with people and showing my leadership skills. I have proven this through work with various groups in my classes, leading my teams through various assignments and projects. I also shows these skills through running my own landscaping business. I employ some of my friends that are out there helping every day during the summer. I enjoy managing different jobs that my employees and I do.
The first thing I will do once I receive a degree in business administration will be to move out of Troy. The small town does not offer any opportunities I am interested in. I plan on moving to Atlanta where the opportunities of growth are endless. I will be able to make connections, obtain a master’s degree from a reputable university, and have more job opportunities around me.
After high school, I plan to pursue an undergraduate degree in Engineering and then, a master’s degree in Business Administration at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Being on the Junior Board of Directors
After I graduate from Sam Houston High School, I plan to continue to finish my Associate's degree in Cyber Security and Information Assurance at San Antonio College in the fall. During that time I also hope to gain an entry-level position with a company that can make good use of the current skill I have obtained. Hopefully an entry level position within the aspect of Computer Forensics or Linux System Administration. During my time here I wish to continue with that company for a couple years to gain a well above average and lengthy experience and distinguish myself from the millennial stereotype that we get bored easily, give up easily, and move jobs every three to six months.
This really put me into gear to be the best mother and provider I could be for my children. I realized being an excellent provider would require me to continue my education. Then after I attended Ivy Tech Community College where I studied Business Administration. I attended Ivy Tech Community College on a part time basis for 2 years. I earned credits in the following classes: English, Math, Microsoft Office 2010, Recordkeeping, Business Communication, and several other core classes. During my time at Ivy Tech Community College I was very successful at continuing my education and working full time at the same time. During two semesters I was placed on the Dean’s List for averaging a 3.8 GPA during that school year. This was quite an accomplishment for me. This success helped me to know I could be a successful college graduate one day. In 2013 I was hired as a sales consultant for Frontier Communications where I exceeded in meeting our monthly goals and being recognized for meeting weekly performance contest for my team. By June of 2014 my team had been recognized as number 1 for the highest sales in a 6 month
As for my employer, my leaders have every intention to encourage me to align my personal life, which is school, with my professional life. Also, encountering new people will provide me with the opportunity to improve myself as well as to help others with their improvement. By taking advantage of my employers Tuition Assistance Program I believe that both my employer and I will benefit from my continued education. Bachelors of Science in Business concentrated in Information systems through the University of Phoenix will open me a new world of successfulness, and I feel that school and my employer will help me to be able accomplish my goals. Meeting new people at every class will allow me to have the opportunity to expand my horizons.
Having a Bachelor’s, in addition to my years of experience, makes me eligible to be promoted to an Operations Manager, or a Director at my current job. I can also be a Billing Manager at a hospital. All of which are careers I am interested in. The final plan in my academic future is to earn my Master’s Degree in Social Work. After completion of my Master’s, I can pursue the career of my dreams, a Hospice Social Worker.
