After the recent mass shootings, the gun control debate has reached its boiling point. We need gun control laws? Gun control, ownership, and laws should be changed immediately.Did you know that 33 people are killed with guns every day in America. Something needs to be done about gun control because the death rate is steadily rising and guns are one of the leading causes of death in the United States. One reason gun control laws should be changed, Gun control statistics reveal that although The United States accounts for only 5% of the world’s population, U.S residents own 50% of guns in the world. The prevalence of suicide is 5 times higher in homes having guns.In a study from 2016 it shows that 14.5 million people had a ccw permit, that was the largest increase ever in the number of permits. Also when owning a gun, there is a 43 times higher likelihood of killing a family member, friend,or neighbor than an intruder. When gun deaths statistics for different countries were expressed as the number of gun deaths in a population of a million people, the United States was ranked below South Africa. A quote from John McGinnis said “Gun control does not decrease gun ownership by criminals, but instead reduces their incentives to refrain from violence because it decreases the supply of armed law-abiding citizens who might resist them.”More recently, a 2013 study in Switzerland compared suicide rates before and after an army reform that cut the number of Swiss soldiers by half.
Gun regulation has been a controversial topic since they were first established as a weapon. People for and against gun regulation provide strong arguments for their side. Gun regulation has fluctuated over time due to changes in office. Being a democracy prevents us from having consistency. As a nation we continue to change regulations on guns because of the different views our democracy allows us to have. The main aspects pose the most problems in gun control are violence, illegal sale of guns, and mental health checks.
The United States Gun laws need to be actively strengthened to protect and prevent harm against citizens by creating more thorough background checks, mental health checks, and more licenses specifically for different types of assault weapons. Several mass shootings have been caused by legally purchased guns caused by background checks without intensive research. With stricter gun laws harm and massive tragedies would be prevented or have more protection and safety. New laws and mandates would change the environment of gun safety and protection.
Although, many Americans believe they have the right to bear arms and use guns for protection. According to the article, “American deaths in terrorism vs. gun violence in one graph” the author Julia Jones states “The prevalence of guns go a long way toward explaining America’s terrible record – they are used in two – thirds of all murders. This demonstrates, guns are the most common weapons that are used in most of all the murders that are occurring. Due to the fact that guns are the most common weapons, it makes the United States have a horrible record. According to the same article “American deaths in terrorism vs. gun violence in one graph” states guns play a large role in suicides too. The article, also states that in 2013; 21,175 Americans killed themselves with guns, while 11,208 were killed by others. This means, people buy guns to take their lives away without a hesitation. This also means, people die no matter with a gun, either they commit suicide or someone kills them. As shown above, there wouldn’t be so many gun attacks and suicides if stronger gun control laws should be
Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the United States yet in 2016 there were 762 gun related homicides, 3,550 shooting incidents, and 4,331 shooting victims. Despite strict gun laws Chicago had one of the deadliest years in history, so are the laws really working? Strict gun control does not mean that the amount of gun related crime will decrease. So, what is the point in making strict gun control laws?
When I think of a gun that looks amazing usually has a nice blue finish to the metal. That is not the only type of finish there is, but what is the reason behind finishing. When I thought about it before the only thought that came to mind is, to help protect the gun along with the price of the gun would go up. Everyone is looking to make a dollar somehow. If not only with a time but also with skills. I think that’s about all we all could give.
Many would agree that there is a distressing amount of violence in America. Violence takes place in many forms, in different severities, and in many places. In an effort to continually make our society more civilized, ways to stop these violent acts from occurring are always being contemplated. There are many ways to approach the epidemic in America, but one that has increasing popularity is applying more strict gun control laws. Strict gun laws are viewed by many to be a step in the right direction, but they are actually a potential danger to the citizens of the United States.
Unfortunately, these types of mass shootings happen all across the United States and are becoming fairly common now. As shootings happen more and more, and gun death rates rise, gun control has become a controversial and highly debated issue in America. People in favor of gun control argue that stricter laws are needed to make it harder for criminals to obtain weapons. On the other hand, others argue that the Second Amendment gives us the right to have firearms to protect themselves. Gun control laws should be stricter to help significantly decrease the number of gun related deaths, making a safer environment without infringing the Second Amendment.
The US has the highest firearm death rate, and alaska is the state with highest gun related deaths. This is why in my opinion we need stricter gun laws, enforced by the federal government. Even if some people disobey the new gun laws after they receive punishment it could reduce the amount of deaths.
Gun control has been very controversial in the past years. It is written in the second amendment of the Constitution that civilians have the right to bear arms. This amendment was made so that civilians can create a militia if the situation called for one. However, guns allow people to kill a large amount civilians with ease. Allowing people to freely wield guns without a thorough back ground check can potentially cause harm to innocent bystanders because of an outdated amendment that was made 200 years ago.
Do you think that the United States should be more strict on gun control? With more than half of the United States population owning guns this is becoming more of a threat to Americans. Guns Kill! And still there is no law banning guns in America yet.
Do you think Gun control is a really important problem in this world? well first let me explain what it is. Its a domestic regulation of firearm manufacture, trade, possession, use, and transport, specifically with regard to the class of weapons referred to as ( pistols, rifles and carbines, assault rifles, submachine guns and light machine guns).Usage of the term gun control is sometimes politicized. Some of those in favor of legislation instead prefer to use terms such as "gun-violence prevention", "gun safety", "firearms regulation", "illegal guns", or "criminal access to guns".
Gun-control, it's a topic that has been argued for quite some time now. And in the last couple weeks it's been blowing up. After the Parkland school shooting on February 14th, 2018 the United States was filled with shock. There was an uproaring of people who believed that guns should be banned and they stormed the capital trying to start a movement. The two political parties that are mostly involved in this are the Liberals and Conservatives. Most liberals believe that gun should be completely banned, at least automatic rifles (which they are). This caused major controversy in the United States because the people who own guns don't want them taken away. Conservatives believe that taking away the right to own a gun won't help at all, and they’re kind of right. Most mass shootings that occurred in the
The shot heard around the world it seems like all you hear on the news is tragic occurrences involving guns. Firearms are supposed to protect us. However tragedies at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the Virginia Tech shooting, the Aurora “Batman” shooting, along with the Tucson shooting flowed our news feeds making us question our current gun control laws. With the upcoming holiday season approaching it hard for us to comprehend how we would live a minute without our loved ones. But for the families of the Sandy Hook disaster, Virginia Tech misfortune and Aurora Shooting that is a bitter reality. The gunmen from each of this incidents have took away something that no amount of money can replace.

Gun safety is a huge factor in having and using a gun. Almost every shooter is taught the 12 Golden Rules. Many of those who are not, are the ones who illegally get their weapon or intend to use the weapon in a harmful way. The 12 Golden Rules are: one, always treat the gun as if it is loaded. Two, always keep the muzzle point in a safe direction. Three, always keep one’s finger off the trigger until one is ready to shoot. Four, always keep the gun unloaded until one is ready to use it. Five, never point the gun the gun at anything one does not tend to destroy. Six, be sure of what one’s target is and what is beyond it. Seven, learn the mechanical and characteristics of the gun one is using. Eight, always use the proper ammunition. Nine, be sure the barrel of the gun is clear of obstructions before loading and shooting the gun. Ten, if the gun fails to fire hold one’s position for a few seconds then carefully unload the gun with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Eleven, do not rely on the gun’s safety to keep it from firing. Twelve, be aware of one’s surroundings when handling a loaded gun so they do not trip and/or lose their balance, and accidentally point and/or fire the gun at anyone or anything they do not intend to (Magtech Ammunition 1). These rules are hung up at every range, can be found almost anywhere, and are taught in every self-defense, hunting, and gun education class.
