“Fling out the purple and gold! We’re marching on!”, a celebratory chant as a part of a song known to many leathernecks as the homecoming game chant, according to, (WIU, 2017). Western Illinois University is a school of big reputation, between the school spirit from students and the many titles they uphold, being placed in the middle of a town. It seems absolutely desirable to want to go to a college filled with hope and reputation. And from the looks of it, the students at WIU uphold every expectation and still manage to make their dreams come true. When taking a look at WIU, it’s important, like any other school, to observe closely and make sure to ask questions. Jot down notes and do not be afraid to be the person who goes out on a …show more content…
Which, for a university, seems like it is incorrect because of how detailed the outside of the building is and how many different rooms are in the building. Like any other college, to get in, someone has to apply, or there will be no schooling for anybody. Without students, colleges would get no money and they would be forced to close the doors. Someone has to pay for all the marvelous things that come with graduating high school and moving onto bigger and better things. Most things are the same for most colleges, but, for all colleges, the only way to get accepted into them, is to apply to them. There are several ways to apply to become a WIU Leatherneck. According to (Naviance, 2017), anyone can apply using a priority scholarship, or even a regular application. Now, the stipulation is, the priority scholarship has a much sooner due date, May 15th. Whereas the regular application isn’t due until July 27, giving people a little more time to really focus on the application itself. Either way, applicants still have to give up thirty dollars to even apply. But, (Naviance, 2017) says, to have a proper application, a person needs their ACT score, GPA, SAT score, school record and Test Scores. According to (Naviance, 2017), Western has a seventy percent acceptance rate. Getting financial aid
Looking back, I regard attending WBU one of my best lifetime decisions. Before I discuss my experiences at WBU, it would be prudent to first give a brief background of myself. To begin with, I have had the opportunity of serving my country in the military and in a way; this has largely shaped my personality and my outlook of life. In that regard, I have come to appreciate the value of life more than ever before. Further, the time I have served in the military has taught me that success is possible in any facet of life with the right attitude, determination and personal sacrifice.
The homecoming dance is usually open to students in any grade. While some schools make this gathering casual, others provide the option to dress formally. The dance that took place at South Walton was themed “A Night in New Orleans”, which entailed Mardi Gras. Specifically, purple, green and gold colors covered the room and every student had a miraculous night to remember. Students will typically spend their nights overwhelmed with enjoyment, dancing to their favorite hits and engaging with their
Boys State was a program that, quite frankly, I was discouraged from attending. I heard from multiple people from across the State that, “all you do is march,” and that Boys State is “military school.” I can say with utmost confidence that I will spread the opposite view. Boys State entirely exceeded my expectations in every way, and I cannot thank you enough for granting me such an exceptional opportunity.
Over my high school years at Waukesha North, I have had a very diverse and fun experience. From my sophomore year when i started working and earning my own money to my freshman year when i joined marching band. High school has taught me a lot about myself and others, and i only plan to further the knowledge through my college years.
When I was a sophomore I was selected for the Missouri Scholars Academy. This single event changed my life forever. Missouri Scholars Academy is an intense three week program in which 330 of Missouri’s brightest individuals are gathered at the University of Missouri’s campus during the summer and attend classes, lectures, and activities. Before this adventure, I was always really shy. I was absolutely terrified to talk to “popular” kids and never uttered a word during class. But that was about to change.
The original college was built in 1866-1867 and was named Western Maryland College, but had its name changed in 2002 to McDaniel College ("History”). There is a long process to name a building, it involves creating a proposal and taking it to the President’s Council and Board of Trustee’s to get approved. After a building receives a name there is also a long list of ways that the buildings get grouped into groups. For example, there are Art buildings; General Use buildings and many more that are available to the students on campus. A building has to be paid for by someone or in memory of someone, there are multiple ways a building can be classified, there are buildings on campus that are named after residents who had lived in them, in memory of people, and even named after presidents. One special building that I had the pleasure of researching was Elderdice Hall, which had been named after Hugh Latimer Elderdice Sr. Elderdice Hall is special to the college because it is made out of completely different brick than any other building on campus. The building houses many essential offices that allow the campus to function, such as the Registrar’s and Bursar’s Offices, and Alumni Relations offices. Mr. Elderdice himself was an interesting man he attended Western Maryland College and later became the President of the Westminister Theological Seminary. He stayed the president until the Westminister Theological Seminary moved to Washington D.C. and became Elderdice Hall. Overall McDaniel College carries a lot of history with each and every brick that was used to build all 70 buildings on the 160-acre campus ("World Ranking
Choosing what college to attend can be a daunting process at any time. Selecting a school as an adult student can be even more difficult. Beyond the normal considerations of cost, program types, traditional school or online, and location, there are additional factors to consider as an adult student. These may include work schedule conflicts, family life, distance to travel, and credit earned for life experience. The nineteen governors who founded Western Governors University took these things into consideration when developing the school and its programs. They developed a school that offers a truly exceptional level of quality in education at a price that is around half of that charged by other schools. So if low cost,

Yell, "Are You Ready?" at community gathering events and University of Mississippi students, staff, faculty, alumni, and fans will yell back "Hell Yeah! Damn Right! Hotty Toddy, Gosh Almighty, Who The Hell Are We? Hey! Flim Flam, Bim Bam! Ole Miss By Damn!" This chant of glee has become engrained into the heritage of the University of Mississippi, and the phrase ‘hotty toddy’ has become as common as a ‘hello.’ Although there is much to celebrate at the university, there is an equal amount of fanfare over racially divisive traditions. The majority of these traditions are due to the geographical location of the university and its support of the confederate army during the Civil War. This essentially married the university to symbols of the
WVSOM is no traditional school. It prides itself in being a tight-knit community that cares about the success of their students. I want to attend WVSOM because I want to go to a school where the success of students is at the forefront. Most schools claim that the success of their students is what really matters, but WVSOM does it through actions by giving students unlimited access to educational resources, faculty, and staff. I hope to one day be a permanent member of this beautiful

To me, Case Western Reserve University symbolizes everything that an individual could, and should, want to be a part of. World-renowned academic excellence, top notch facilities, and an unmatched commitment to its students are all things that make Case Western Reserve University a dream institution. For the longest, the only thing I knew about Case was its undergraduate programs. As I was getting ready to apply undergraduate programs, I received numerous brochures and letters from the institution filled with information. In the end, I decided to stay closer to home for family reasons.
Just when time seems to start slowing down, it proves just how much faster it can go. College can be a happy, scary, thrilling place. It all depends on how people make it; college will treat someone the way they treat college. Forget to turn papers in on time? Life in college becomes a little more stressful, although staying on top of things is not hard when the school is a fun place to be. When people speak of school, they make it sound horrible and a pain. However, school does not have to be a weight on the shoulders for anyone. Somewhere at sometime it was said that college was supposed to be the prime time of life. There is a freedom that people finally have when they get to college, and legally
