As a most successful leader, there are lots of success experiences about his leadership. One of the leadership styles that Sir Li Ka-Shing having is the transformation leadership style. His transformation leadership style can be shown by his growing business operation. On the different stage of his company’s growing, his innovation is widespread. He always change the old way although it seems health and success. He is a transformational leader who uses intellectual stimulation. Nothing can stop him from innovation and change the old rules. He has the ability of imagination and creativity in rethinking assumptions and old ways of doing things. To illustrate my point, Sir Li Ka-Shing entered the business world as a teenager, selling plastic goods until he is twenty-two years old. He started his own plastics company, Cheung Kong, specializing in plastic flowers. He entered the real estate market in the 1960s.In 1979, only the colonial government owned more real estate in Hong Kong than Sir Li Ka-Shing. What makes him distinctive, though, is that he has plowed returns from Hong Kong real estate into international businesses. The pay that he compensated to his workers is less than the actual rate. This shows that Sir Li Ka-Shing is an autocratic leader. Autocratic leaders expect obedience, not understanding and input from their staff or followers. Under autocratic style, leader is the maximum ruler that they make decisions without seeking any opinion. Sir Li Ka-Shing autocratic action is inappropriate and this will eventually create fear and low employee morale. Therefore, to apply autocratic leadership style in an appropriate way, Sir Li Ka-Shing should listen to his employees and take their complaints into considerations. During the past 50 years the autocratic style has been used less and less and criticized more often. It is well known that a company who demonstrates this philosophy will have higher turnover and increased absenteeism than other companies. Now companies adopt the more modern permissive and interactive style. However Job's may never be outmatched by a single entity but due to his unique and aggressive style he single-handedly enhanced an entire organization, something the world never anticipated.
Leadership styles can be compared within any movie. I have chosen to compare the Disney movies Lion King and Toy Story 3. The stories of loss, triumph and family transcend time and easily highlight the different types of leadership styles of its primary and secondary characters. Lion King is a coming of age story battle between Simba the heir and the brother to the deposed king for control over the animal pride lands. Toy Story 3 is a continuation of events with the human Andy and the story of what happens to his toys as he is grown up and going off to college, what will happen to the toys now? There are many leadership styles within both movies but I have chosen to compare the four primary characters within these movies; Lion Kings bothers Mufasa and Scar and Toy Story 3 Woody and Lotso and integrate the lessons into the development of army leaders.
Leadership is a skill some are born with the other can learn. There are many styles of leadership. This paper will focus on three main styles of leadership including autocratic, democratic and laissez-faire. Transformational leadership is a type a leadership that is very difficult to teach and we will explore the great effects of this type of leadership. Wells and Wells (2010) explain several aspects of leadership that leaders should portray, no matter what style they use. These including :articulating a vision, explaining what is expected of himself or herself as leader as well as what is expected of staff members, providing guidance and mentoring, developing staff members by coaching them one on one, understanding the importance of teamwork,
A charismatic leader leads by charm and personality and looks to fulfill the company’s goals by devotion. Transformational leaders focus on effecting innovative change, by being committed to their business vision. Visionary leaders dream about the future and takes those dreams and translate them into goals that can be achieved and are able to articulate those goals with inspiration that encourages the commitment to others (Nanjundeswaraswamy & Swamy, 2014). There are other types of leadership styles, however, these three were chosen because of the two leaders in this paper. Either of these leaders could be said to have had any one of the above leadership styles, based on their history, it would possibly be fair to say that Constantine’s leadership style was one of transformational and Qin Shihuangdi, could possibly fall into the category of being a visionary
Have you ever had a leader that inspired you to develop your own leadership traits? “A leader is someone who demonstrates what’s possible” (Mark Yarnell, 2015). There are numerous leadership styles. Each of the numerous leadership styles can be beneficial if utilized in an appropriate means. I have chosen three leaders and their unique leadership styles to discuss in this paper. The unique styles that will be discussed are situational leadership, transformational leadership, and laissez-faire leadership. I will also discuss each leader’s approach, their fundamental leadership principles, and how each leader used their style within their profession.
Business leaders can get caught up in the overwhelming pressures of preparing their companies to grow and meet the challenges in a global economy. These leaders understand the need for organizational changes and adaptations but fall short of achieving their goals when their leadership styles do not inspire or motivate their followers. It is critical that leaders understand their particular style of leadership and the impact it has on employees, peers, and company success. The need for effective leadership is just as critical in the public sector as it is in business.
Strong leadership is vital to the success of any business, institution, school, team, or even church. Leaders that are considered effective encompass a leadership style and qualities that work to influence and motivate their followers. Joel Osteen, an evangelical pastor from Houston, Texas is truly one of the 21st centuries most captivating leaders. So much so, that he as selected by Barbara Walters as one of her 10 Most Fascinating People of 2016 (ABC News, 2006). His appeal is a phenomenon that is unmatched by any other current leaders in his profession. Over the past 15 years he has built a church, where he ministers one of the largest and most diverse congregations in America (Romano, 2005). Aside from his 45,000 attendees at his weekly services, his sermon is broadcasted in every television market in the United States and in over 100 other nations around the world (“About Joel,” n.d.). Joel Osteen is a prime example of a compelling leader who practices an effective leadership style that resonates with people on a personal level.
First of all, Transformational leadership is a style of leadership I view as effective leadership. Well known people such as stated by (Carpenter, Bauer, & Erdogan, 2009 ) “Steve Jobs the
From Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela’s charisma, to Winston Churchill and Martin Luther King’s intelligence and Steve Jobs’ analytical nature, there can be as numerous ways to lead as there are leaders (Crossman, 2010). Leadership is a hot debate both in the business world and other areas of the society. Throughout the world's, there have been as many leadership models as there have been their commentators (Burns & Peltason, 1966). Fortunately, psychologists and businesspersons have established useful frameworks that refer to the main ways of leadership.
Leadership is a concept most people feel informed enough to discuss, but that few are truly educated sufficiently to comment on. Therefore, it is instructive to consider the leadership styles of people with very different approaches both to better understand the diversity underlying leadership, as well as to appreciate the effective and less effective strategies that underlie different leadership outcomes. For that reason, this essay will consider the styles of two leaders who are less visible in this highly contentious presidential election season: Jill Stein (the Green Party nominee) and Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate. The leadership styles of both are very different, yet they are aligned in the sense that both are outsider candidates struggling to gain momentum from a disaffected electorate. This essay begins with a theoretical discussion of leadership more generally and then turns to the two leaders as case studies, comparing and contrasting them and drawing conclusions about how they both work within the same public sphere and for putatively similar ends (i.e., gaining votes).

Shadowed by an example of an observed unsuccessful leadership strategy, how I responded, and a recommended strategy for the situation described. The control of all operation by the Autocratic management style is the use of power over employee and staff and forces them to deal with the customer. This type of leadership makes the decision alone and converts it to the employee which the employee has to work, for example, to deliver the best customer service manger instruct all employee to follow his guidelines for this process. The Democratic leadership style is an important way to give the opportunity for the employee in making decision in the
The impact of leadership style in the change process of an organization influences the performance; Leadership as stated by Martin, Liao and Campbell (2013) remains one of the most consequential contextual influencers of employee performance. Latson (2014) elucidated that some leaders may have the best intentions, but the impact will not be in alignment with the intension. But leadership trait is the ability to inspire, motivate and engage the followers to make the inspired vision happen beyond their normal capabilities (Mendez, Munoz & Munoz 2013). A change is the most frequent phenomenon of today's reality and a good understanding of how to manage the change process is very essential; Change is translation from one state into
