Cardiovascular disease is a disease that affects both the heart and the blood vessel condition. Cardiovascular disease is a major health concern today because it is the leading cause of death in the United States. One in every three deaths are caused by this disease. You can prevent getting cardiovascular disease by eating healthy, not smoking, being active and exercising, watching your blood pressure, maintaining stress at a healthy level and maintaining good cholesterol levels. The health care in the United States work hard to help fight this disease. They spend about $320 million to help those affected by this disease.
Foods that are fried, high in sodium and with saturated fats all contribute the risk of getting cardiovascular
According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease or heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in America. Cardiovascular disease refers to a disease of the heart and/or blood vessels. It is also known as heart disease. The term cardiovascular disease covers many conditions and is extremely dangerous. Atherosclerosis is one of the major conditions that falls under the cardiovascular disease category. Atherosclerosis is a condition that develops when plaque, made from various substances that circulate in your blood, builds up on the walls of the arteries. The buildup narrows the arteries and makes it difficult for blood to flow through. The major risks of atherosclerosis are heart attack or stroke (American Heart Association, n.d.).
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major cause of death and disability in the United States among adults. More than one-half of all deaths were caused by heart disease, cancer or
Cardiovascular disease has reportedly been the number one disease killer for men and women in the United States of America. Every one out of four deaths is caused by heart disease in the United States alone (Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention). Heart disease refers to the different types of conditions and symptoms that can affect the one’s heart and its functions to the body (Mayo Clinic). Cardiovascular/Heart disease has many causes and conditions, prevention methods and symptoms, and treatment options.
The highest leading cause of death for men and women within the United States is heart disease. The number of deaths for heart disease is 611,105; this is more than half of a million lives being claimed by heart disease. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Leading Causes of Death). This disease tends to be preventable, even though it’s the highest cause of death. In order to prevent one self from having a heart disease, individuals should take the right precautions throughout their everyday lives to reduce the risk of contracting different types of heart diseases; one of the best ways to prevent heart diseases is to engage in exercise. Heart disease involves the blood vessels becoming narrow in the body, which causes restriction
Most people do not identify that cardiovascular disease is the primary cause of death and has the most modifiable risk factors to prevent cardiovascular disease.
The leading causes of death in the United States is heart disease. Heart disease is classified as a chronic disease. Chronic diseases are long-lasting conditions that can be controlled but not cured. Overall chronic diseases account for about 70% of deaths in the United States. The most common examples of chronic diseases include diabetes, heart disease, obesity, Alzheimer’s disease, asthma, and high blood pressure. Though chronic diseases are shown to be the major cause of death around the world, they can easily be prevented. One of the easiest ways to prevent majority of chronic diseases is to exercise (The Center for Managing Chronic Disease). By exercising at a minimum of 20 minutes a day at a moderate intensity people can reduce the risks of developing a chronic disease therefore increasing their life expectancy.
Heart Disease is the number one leading cause of death in the United States. Anyone, including children, can develop heart disease. Heart Disease has three major categories that are used to describe Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), which affects the heart and the circulatory of blood being pumped into the heart (AHA, 2015). According to the Center for Disease and Control (CDC), Heart disease has consistently been the leading cause of death for both US men and women since 1935(CDC, 2014), with men being affected more than women with heart disease. According to the Census Bureau data of 2014, the overall population in the United States is 318.9 million people in Kings County, Brooklyn, New York making 30.8% with 2, 592,149 of the population and growing (Census, 2014). As of 2014, Kings County is the second most populated area in New York City. Kings County has one of the largest populations of people who are less than 20 years old, with 7.6% of its population under the age of five and 12.1% over the age of 65. Moreover, the life expectancy for King County is 82, compares to the overall life expectancy in the United States at 79. Thus, heart disease is the number highest mortality rate in Kings County, Brooklyn. Heart Disease and Stroke are among the most costly health problems, with $500 billion in health care expenditures and related expenses in 2010 along (HealthyPeople 2020, 2014).
Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in the United States and also one of the most preventable. In 2005, the total number of cardiovascular disease deaths had increased globally to 17.5 million from 14.4 million since 1990. Symptoms and triggers of this disease consist of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cigarette smoking, diabetes, poor diet, physical inactivity, and obesity. Over time, these risk factors cause changes in the heart and blood vessels that can lead to heart attacks, heart failure, and strokes. By 2013, 614,348 people died in the United States from heart disease, in my opinion that almost sounds like a pandemic.
Cardiovascular disease is the number one leading cause of death in the United States of America affecting eighty one million Americans every day; taking a life every thirty eight seconds which is equal to “two thousand three hundred Americans every day” (book, p. 414). The research shows that women are more at risk of having a heart attack than men. “Each year about 425,000 women have a stroke, that is, 55,000 more than men” (Heart Attack and Stroke: Men vs. Women, p. 7). Indeed, Heart attack is known to kill 1 of every 4 women in the country. (Women and Heart Disease Fact Sheet). “Cardiovascular disease claims more lives each year than the next four leading causes of death combined (cancer, chronic lower respiratory diseases, accidents and diabetes)” (Donatelle, p. 454) Still, for many women it is unknown that they actually have a higher risk than men to experience a heart disease. (Wolf, Miller, Ko, p. 405). This happens for many reasons, education level, social status, age and racial or ethnic differences.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) refers to the dysfunctional conditions of the heart, arteries, and veins that supply oxygen to vital life- sustaining areas of the body like the brain, the heart itself and other vital organs. Since the term cardiovascular disease refers to any dysfunction of the cardiovascular system there are many different diseases in the cardiovascular category, and many of these diseases are strongly intertwined. Ischemic Heart Disease is the medical idiom for the obstruction of blood flow to the heart. It is usually due largely in part to excess fat or plaque deposits that narrow the veins that provide oxygenated blood to
Coronary artery disease (CAD), also known as coronary heart disease, is the leading cause of mortality in both men and women in the United States today. It has been reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that CAD accounted for nearly 616,000 deaths in 2011 and was responsible for 1 in 4 deaths in the U.S. in the same year. 1 Coronary artery disease is a progressive disease where the major arterial vessels supplying the heart become occluded and sclerotic due to the buildup of plaque in the inner walls of the artery through a process called atherosclerosis. 2 CAD eventually leads to heart failure and a myocardial infarction (MI).
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a category of diseases that relate to the heart and blood vessels. The most common form of CVD is coronary heart disease and involves the buildup plaque in the arteries, namely the coronary arteries. This occurs when cholesterol, cellular waste, and other types of
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the most common cause of mortality worldwide, especially in developed countries. But they are also largely preventable, and many studies have tried to clarify the related risk factors, and what could be done to avoid them.
I picked heart disease for the leading cause of death. Heart disease is the number 1 cause of death from both the CDC and Medical News Today. Louisiana is the 5th highest heart disease death rate in the country. In 2010, there were 10,282 people in Louisiana died from heart disease (American Heart Association). In 2010, there were 514, 323 heart disease related deaths in the US (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). When comparing to the US 11.3% of adults will be diagnosed with heart disease, which is about 26.6 million adults (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). The parish in which I live in called Washington Parish is ranked number 15 of heart disease death rates in parishes of Louisiana. In Louisiana 25% of deaths will result
The most common, and most preventable, heart disease of all is coronary artery disease. This is caused when blockages develop in the blood vessels
