It was a typical Tuesday morning with clear skies in New York City on September 11th, 2001 until at around 8:45am (history.com). Suddenly without warning, a Boeing 747 commercial aircraft carrier filled with approximately 20,000 gallons of extremely volatile jet fuel plummeted directly the World Trade Center’s north tower causing catastrophic damage to the building and killing hundreds instantly (history.com). The media and common folk initially assumed that this must be the result of some horrendous piloting accident, but then, to everyone’s horror, a second plane collided with the southernmost tower of the World Trade Center almost 20 minutes later. The final blow was delivered about an hour after the first plane crashed into the north tower as a third plane crashed into the western portion of the Pentagon located in Washington D.C. (history.com) These horrendous acts were carried out by 19 militant members of al-Qaeda who successfully hijacked and flew three planes into their successful targets, while the fourth was only unsuccessful because valiant and brave civilians on board the flight managed to regain control of the flight back from the terrorists. Unfortunately, the civilians didn’t have to knowledge to properly land the plane so, sadly, it flipped upside and crashed in to deserted filed in Pennsylvania, killing all 45 people aboard the plane. This was the first major domestic attack that the US had suffered since Pearl Harbor with a total of 2,975 lives lost
September 11, 2001 (herein referred to as 9/11) was a day in American history, which will be remembered as the most horrific attack on American soil. This attack, carried out by nineteen Islamic extremists, was associated with al-Qaeda, and involved the hijacking of four airplanes. Two of those airplanes were hijacked and flown directly into the World Trade Center in New York City, New York. The third plane’s target was the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the fourth plane was brought down in Pennsylvania where it is believed the passengers aboard fought the hijackers. This horrific day in history cost over 3,000 people their lives, and was labeled the worst attack on American soil since the attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II.
Two airplanes crashed into the two twin towers in New York City, one slammed into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters, and the last one crashed into a rural field in Pennsylvania. It was believed that the fourth plane’s intended target was the White House or the Capitol. At 8:45 a.m. the first plane hit the North Tower, instantly killing hundreds and trapping hundreds and trapping hundreds on higher floors. At 9:03 a.m. a second plane struck the South Tower. Minutes later, the buildings collapsed, one after another, leaving heat and debris to billow throughout the city. The temperature could be felt miles away and the suffocating debris was impossible to withstand. People were covered from head to toe with ashes and dying from its effects to the body. It was our darkest hour and we could only turn towards each other for a helping hand and shoulder to cry on. The steady, serene debris continued to fall and darkness filled the sky. Time seemed to slow down, and we felt hopeless, for there was nothing we could do to bring back the thousands of lives taken
On September 11, 2001 four passenger commercial jet airliners were hijacked and as a result approximately 3,000 human lives were lost. When asked about 9/11, many can recall exactly what they were doing when they heard the news that a plane crashed into one of the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings and many Americans can tell you how it all unfolded and the reason behind such a travesty. The “official story” provided by officials, and restated by Sofia Shafquat, producer of “9/11 Mysteries: Demolitions” say that “four passenger planes were hijacked and taken radically off course, within an hour, two of the planes had flown into the enormous steel towers of the World Trade Center, creating fires and eventually toppling them” (Shafquat).
As millions were watching the events unfold in New York, American Airlines Flight 77 circled over downtown Washington, D.C., and crashed into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters at 9:45 a.m. Jet fuel from the Boeing 757 caused a overwhelming firestorm that led to the structural collapse of a portion of the enormous concrete building. All told, 125 military personnel and civilians were killed in the Pentagon, along with all 64 people aboard the airliner. (9/11 Attacks, 2012) It was initially thought that this plane was bound for the White House or the Capitol Building; however, because of lack of visibility coming from the west as it did objects obscured these targets making the terrorists change their plans and crash into the Pentagon. (Limbacher, 2001)
On September 11, 2001, at 8:45 a.m. the US became a nation transformed, four planes were hijacked and turned into deadly guided missiles. One of the planes crashed into the World Trade Center, carrying 20,000 gallons of jet fuel plowed into the north tower. The collision created burning hole near the 80th floor of the 110-story sky scraper, immediately killing more than 3,000 people and injuring hundreds. As the evacuation of the tower and its twin got underway, the media broadcasted live images of what initially appeared to be a
Unbelievably a plane was hijacked after those three crashes. We believe it was headed for the White House. The passengers had forced the plane to crash so there wouldn’t have been any more lives taken. Although the passengers knew they would die either way. People were jumping from 100 floors up. Because they didn’t want to burn to death from the fire. They would have died either way. Those who had found themselves below the crash in the tower, were in the “mouth of hell’. Ash and smoke everywhere outside of the towers. Below the tower debris was falling everywhere. The 1st plane was sensed before it was heard. Sensing danger, the dogs had lifted their heads. Those in the north tower, below the crash, rushed to the ground. 343 firefighters and 60 police officers were killed on the day of 9-11. The age range of killed victims were 2-85 years old. In Washington at the Pentagon, 184 people were killed. Around $500,000 was estimated the costs to plan the attack. To pick up 1.8 million tons of debris, it took 3.1 million hours and had cost $750 million to clean all of the debris up. Terrorist were taking flight lessons and lived in the U.S. for over a year. 19 terrorists were involved in this
On a quiet Tuesday morning at 8:45 September 11, 2001, a 767 was fully loaded and ready for departure. When an Islamic extremist group called Al-Qaeda, hijacked the plane and crashed into on of the World Trade Center Towers. On the 80th story of a 110 story building. It instantly killed all in the plane and many in the tower. 18 short minutes later another 757 United Airline disappeared into the second building. This plane crashed into the south side of the second building on the 60th floor killing all in the plane as well.
On September 11, 2001, nineteen terrorists took control of four planes and caused one of the biggest tragedies in American history. At 8:45 a.m. and 9:03 a.m., two of the hijacked planes crashed into the two towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, leaving hundreds trapped, dead, and injured. The towers were given unsustainable damage for they both soon collapsed, the South falling first within minutes, the North following a little more than an hour later. As those shocking events were happening, a third plane crashed into the west side of the Pentagon at 9:45 a.m. in Washington D.C., leading to half of the building’s ruin. The last plane –Flight 93– did not suffer as big as consequences as the other crashes, thanks to a group of
On a beautiful, sunny Tuesday in New York City everyone was having a normal day. But all of that changed at 8:45am when the Islamic extremist group, al-Qaeda, hijacked four planes in order to launch a suicide attack on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, most commonly known as the Twin Towers. At 8:45, the first plane crashed into the north tower near the 80th floor of a 110-story skyscraper. Everyone just thought it was an accident until 18 minutes later, the second Boeing 767-United
In the morning of September eleventh, two-thousand and one American citizens and visitors, public safety officials, hospital staff, and every other person in the world woke up from their beds expecting a normal day as that of September tenth. People were driving to and from work, getting their kids off to school, grabbing their coffee, and resuming their activities of daily living. At eight forty-six in the morning American Airlines flight eleven struck the North tower of the World trade center, which would collapse at ten twenty-eight. Three minutes past nine, flight one seventy-five would crash into the south tower, and fall one minute before ten am. Flight seventy-seven strikes part of the pentagon, which causes damage and death. Finally at three minutes past ten in the
It was a peaceful and sunny morning in New York, fall was around the corner and the fresh air was starting to blow from the coast through the big apple. Everybody was working, at school, home, it was a typical Tuesday. Nobody knew that September 11 was going to be a date to remember for the rest of our lives. Between 8:46 a.m. – 10:28 a.m. (EDT) two of the biggest skyscrapers of New York suffered a terrorist attack. Two commercial planes were hijacked by members of Al-Qaeda organization and crashed into tower one and two of WTC making them collapse in less than 15 Seconds, this horrible event killed around 2,996 people, creating panic and chaos in the multitude. This definitely is one biggest mysteries and concerns about how 9-11 attack was
On September 11, 2001, multiple airplanes were hijacked by 19 militants linked with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda, against buildings and landmarks in the United States. The terrorist’s boarded four aircrafts at three East Coast airports, and soon after takeoff, they were able to successfully hinder the crews. The hijackers then took control of the aircraft, all “large and bound” for areas across the country with filled fuel tanks . At 8:46 am the first plane, American Airlines flight 11, which had originated from Boston was piloted into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York . In addition, the second plane, United Airlines flight 175, also from Boston, hit the south tower 17 minutes later . The two towers were “badly damaged by the impact and erupted” into flames . Some individuals who were trapped in the higher floors of the building were essentially left with no choice than to jump to their deaths instead of burning in the “infernos raging” inside the towers. The third plane, American Airlines flight 77, which departed from an airport near Washington, D.C., hit the southwest side of the Pentagon at 9.37 a.m., causing mass destruction and raging fires . The fourth hijacked airplane, United Airlines flight 93, which departed from Newark, New Jersey, crashed close to Shanksville, Pennsylvania after passengers attempted to subdue their attackers . Unfortunately, at 9:59 am the World Trade Center’s “heavily damaged” south tower gave in and collapsed and
Billowing smoke, rolling flames, flying debris, and people dying was what September 11, 2001 looked like to a nation attacked by terrorists. Two airplanes crashed into the north and south towers of the World Trade Center on a clear, normal Tuesday morning in New York City. People all over the nation were watching; kids and teachers in classrooms, healthcare workers, military, business employees, and others. A scene of destruction and death was witnessed that morning. People were jumping to their death from the 110-story skyscrapers to escape the death of burning alive or smoke inhalation. While watching this horrific scene, the south tower collapsed killing people instantly on its route down to the bottom of the street.
On September 11th, 2001, or better known as “9/11”, several men who were supposedly linked to the terrorist group of al-Qaeda, hijacked 4 commercial jetliners with destined targets aimed at several buildings associating with our country’s government and economy. These attacks were all located in New York, and the most notable, most remembered, was the World Trade Center. Both towers that fell resulted in over 2,600 deaths from in and around the buildings. Along with this were the planes that struck the buildings which resulted in 147 additional deaths. To add up the numbers even more, nearly 60 more people were in the plane that hit the Pentagon, another target of the attacks, which held 125 deaths inside the building itself. The fourth plane, Flight 93, contained 40 more brave souls which defended a fourth target located in Washington.
September 11, 2001, millions of New Yorkers and American citizens woke up and started their day, unprepared and unaware for the catastrophic attack that would be taking place in just a few short hours. At 8:46 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. The impact killed all of the passengers and crew as well as hundreds inside the building. At 9:03 a.m., a second plane, Flight 175, crashed into the corner of the South Tower killing passenger, crew, and workers who worked on floors seventy-five to eighty-three. Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. killing approximately 185 individuals (History.com Staff). Because of the damaged to the support system, fires, and impact at extremely fast speed, the South Tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m. (Lipton and Glanz). Having heard about the acts of terrorism that had just taken place in New York and Washington, D.C., a group of passengers drove their plane, Flight 93, into a Pennsylvania field killing everyone on board but possibly saving hundreds of other lives in the process. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. 102 minutes after being struck (History.com Staff). On September 11, 2001, almost twelve hundred people were wounded or killed by “coordinated suicide attempts” by Al Qaeda terrorists. In result to the four airplanes being hijacked and used for premediated reasons, the United States government instituted new regulations for entering the country and airport security as well as expounded on systems already in place.
