Can I remember something that happened six weeks ago from today? Nope, I’m sure do not remember what I did, but I can only guess what I did on that day. In the first episode, the serial shows the amount of knowledge and evidence that has shown by Sarah Koenig’s questioning and collecting information from different people convoluted in the murder case of Hae Min Lee. The three main characters were Rabia, Jay, and Asia in this episode that Sarah Koenig talked to in the first episode of Serial. These three people who are a lawyer, witnesses and being involved in the case of Hae Min Lee’s Death could be the answers of if Adnan killed Hae Min Lee, his ex-girlfriend or not part of the murder
Simon Gittany was a male perpetrator. In almost 4 out of 5 intimate partner homicides the perpetrator was a male (Australian Institute of Criminology 1998).
We believe that Jay is guilty. In the next five minutes we will prove to you that Adnan is in fact innocent and why Jay should be in jail. Adnan was close friends with Jay’s girlfriend Stephanie which is what we believe Jay’s motive was to murder Hae. The court convicted Adnan of the murder with the motive of being jealous of Hae’s new relationship. We argue that the motive of jealousy was what made Jay kill Hae Min Lee.
Adnan Syed is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend, and various factors present him as a very likely suspect. Information put together by the state don’t add up, but instead prove he is innocent. Is Adnan guilty or innocent for his ex-girlfriend’s death? In the Serial Podcast, journalist Sarah Koenig discusses the case, committed almost seventeen years ago, and uncovers new evidence that indicates Adnan’s innocence. Adnan Syed has been viewed as a boyfriend, honor roll student, and a murderer. Many described him as a smart, flirtatious, and a likable high schooler. On January 13, 1999, his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, was murdered. Investigators immediately assumed Adnan as the primary suspect because Hae had broken up with him, a month
Of the 93% of women that were murdered by men that they knew, 63% were an intimate acquaintance (Wyman). Throughout the podcast called “Serial”, producer Sarah Koenig gives her take on the murder of Hae Min Lee. She was murdered on January 13, 1999 in Baltimore, Maryland. Adnan Syed was convicted of murder and is currently serving a life sentence. Now, Adnan is receiving a retrial. Jay, an acquaintance of Adnan’s, testifies that Adnan is guilty allowing him to not receive a sentence. Jay’s knowledge of the location of Hae’s car is further supported by Adnan’s lack of recognition of events on the day Hae was murdered, which shows Adnan killed Hae
Australian career criminal and convicted armed robber Stephen Asling, 56, has been convicted of the murder of respected underworld figure, Graham ‘The Munster’ Kinniburgh by the Victorian Supreme Court after more than a decade (Fox Koob 2017). In 2003, Asling and his accomplice, Terrence Blewitt, ambushed and gunned down Kinniburgh, 62, outside his home in Melbourne. The murder was by a contract with late underworld kingpin Carl Williams, who wanted Kinniburgh dead due to his tie-in with the Moran clan. Williams detested the Moran’s after he was shot and wounded during a dispute and it lead to a rivalry during the Melbourne gangland war (Deery & Murphy 2017). Asling and Blewitt was offered $150,000 to execute Lewis Moran however if they were
The detective genre is recognizable by the mystery that it represents or establishes. Every word of a fiction novel is chosen with a purpose, and that purpose on a detective novel is to create suspense. The excerpts from The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler, Murder Is My Business by Lynette Prucha, and Devil in a Blue Dress by Walter Mosley, create an atmosphere of suspense and mystery. Even though they all fit into this category, there are some differences that make each novel unique. The imagery that the authors offer in the excerpts helps the reader to distinguish the similarities and the differences.
On July 12, 2005, Liana White, wife and mother, disappeared in northern Edmonton. At 5:45 am that morning a woman called to report an abandoned car, left open with personal effects, including Mrs. White’s licence, scattered around it (Edmonton Journal, 2007, para. 2, 4). The next day her husband, Michael White, made a public plea for his wife’s return as they continued searching for her whereabouts (Harding & Shaw, 2005, Timeline of Events, para. 3). By July 14, Michael had become a suspect and the police were all too happy when he decided to lead a search party of his own, in the hopes that, if Michael was in fact the reason for Mrs. White’s disappearance, he would lead them right to her (Edmonton Journal, 2007, A Turning Point., para. 14).
For the Midterm Writing Assignment project, I chose to review and summarize the Forensic Files episode titled, “The Buddhist Monk Murders” (S15, Ep3) (Dowling, 2001). In August 1991, nine Monks from the Wat Promkunaram Temple were forced to kneel in a circle in the living room then shot execution-style in the back of the head. Because of the number of victims and sheer brutality of the murders, this incident is considered the worst mass murder in Arizona’s history.
The case of Jennifer and Jianshe Li would be extremely challenging and difficult for any counselor/therapist to handle and guide the couple through; furthermore, the goal would be to guide the couple thorough the difficult decisions they have to make regarding Jennifer’s prognosis and pregnancy.
On June 19, 1982, Vincent Chin was murdered after his bachelor party in a hate crime driven by an outrage towards the Japanese auto industry misplaced onto himself (Embracing). Neither of his murderers ever spent a day in prison, despite appeals made in court (Embracing). Vincent Chin and his case still matters to Americans and should be made aware to the Wayne State faculty and students by the Filipino Student Society (FilSoc). Not necessarily every single person needs to be told directly by the FilSoc, but at least a small portion of the faculty and student body should become aware of the Vincent Chin case through FilSoc’s efforts.
There has been a lot of speculation and internal conflict as to who committed Hae’s murder. At some points, I thought that surely Adnan had done it. However at other points, there was no way that he had killed her. Based on the lack of physical evidence against him, I do not believe that Adnan committed the murder.
I think that it wasn’t Adnan that killed Hae but Jay did it. I think that he did it because he knew where Hae’s car was parked. I feel like Jay should have gotten some punishment when they convicted Adnan because he was an accessory to murder . I feel like he did it because he seems to tell a lot of people about it to point the finger at Adnan.
This essay will examine the evidence against Gerry James Alder and why he is the most plausible suspect in the Mount Jo murders of 3 teenagers between 1990 and 1992. It will also investigate Alders biography an the death of his mother. As well it will show how social control theory and differentiation can explain the reason why Alder would commit these murders. Finally this essay will examine with the second suspect Thames Gord is not the murderer.
The murder of a little girl has haunted Boulder, Colorado. Many people have heard of the famous case of the murder of JonBenet Ramsey. However nobody knows what truly happened the night of her murder. There have been an abundance of conspiracies to what really happened the night of december 25th. 1996. Finding out there was a significant amount of evidence was great news to the DA of Boulder county, and also the many cops of Boulder; but the question still lingers nearly twenty years later who killed JonBenet Ramsey?
They’d usually give us one every 6 months if we behaved well enough.” Hùng had to get used to the little food that he was given, but many didn’t and were malnourished. It was not uncommon for many to pass away from Hùnger, sickness or simply just being over worked in the ward, and many did. One of Hùng’s friends that he had talked to in jail passed away in his sleep due to over exhaustion in 1976, this alarmed Hùng even further and forced him to be careful on his health. A lot of people died due to the harsh conditions of the jail, but luckily Hùng never got horribly sick. Over the next year, Hùng was transported to a new prison in 1977 in Yen Bai which is an agriculture based province in north-central Vietnam. It had the same concepts as the
