I completed the Myers-Briggs on-line self-assessment and based off my answers to the questions the assessment asked me, I was classified as an ESFJ – ESFJ stands for extraversion, sensing, feeling and judgment (HumanMetrics). ESFJ’s are known to be the caregivers out of the different combinations a person may receive, and tend to be very emotional and due to this, they do not wear their heart on their sleeves. Other important characteristics of an ESFJ are being able to delegate easily in a situation where a problem arises. Though an ESFJ may easily delegate, they may also struggle when they have to make a quick decision, which can cause great discomfort and conflict within themselves (Butt 2009). Being classified as an ESFJ has been very …show more content…
I took everything very seriously and felt that all rules had to be abided by. After school, I was always the first to say that we had homework to be completed and I made it my mission to ensure that all of my siblings completed their homework. I would always tell them that organization is the key to success. I also took it upon myself to help my younger brother with his schoolwork. I vividly remember sitting in my dad’s room teaching him how to read a book, it was things like this my mother would have taught him if she were there and my father would have if he did not have to work so hard to support us. Looking back at these memories, I fully understand why I am more sensing than intuitive. I had things in the moment I had to and wanted to accomplish, and I felt that by accomplishing the tasks, we would all be better off and happier. I took everything literally and personally, which are both main characteristics of someone who is sensing (BSM 2014). Being an extravert also helped me in daily tasks like this and it encouraged me to help others when necessary without doubting myself. With a love to plan and make lists, I always prepared a grocery list and to this day, I still do. Creating the list was something I enjoyed, but it also served a purpose and that was to stay focused on what we truly needed. Almost every child that was raised by a single parent understands what it means to be frugal, and when you are
The world would be a lot better of a place if everyone got along and knew how to communicate effectively with one another. There are several different personalities at any given workplace. “According to typological theory, each of us is born with a predisposition for certain personality preferences” (Kroeger pg11 para4). The Myers-Briggs Personality assessment is the most effective way to determine one’s personality type. The test uses different markers to determine how one is stimulated and exerts energy, gather information, make decisions, and living structure. At the completion of the test one will get personality type that is comprised of four letters. The test was developed based off of Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs-Myers’ psychological research on personalities and later dissected into Otto Kroeger’s book, “Type Talk at Work.” This book gives one the tools to determine what one’s personality is and then goes into great detail about one’s strengths and weaknesses and how it applies to to real life situations. My personality description is ENFP; Extravert, iNtuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving. The following are details regarding and ENFP personality type examining a holistic view including personal and work place interactions. Everything is based on insights gained from real world experiences and interactions.
Why do NFL teams conduct training camps annually? Fundamentally, they are testing each player’s level of knowledge of the team’s playbook. This assists the coaches in deciding who to keep or cut, but more importantly, it allows the executives to assess each athlete’s character. Likewise, the Myers-Briggs Test has everyone answer a myriad of questions to figure out their specific personality. I received the designation of introverted, sensing, feeling, and judging or “ISFJ.” Simply, I am someone who avoids receiving attention, builds deep, personal friendships, and judges people harshly for their mistakes. Additionally, this test was extremely informative because it helped me identify possible future jobs and explained how I can further excel within social relationships.
John Adams once said, “Thanks be to God that he gave me stubbornness when I know I am right”. John Adams, like myself was introverted, intellectual, thinking, and judging, or an INTJ on the Myers Briggs personality test. Like all INTJs, Adams was stubborn and flouted the ideas of others that he did not agree with. By using my results from the Meyers Briggs personality test, I can examine how I react to certain things and use this to improve my Spirituality, my relationship with God, and ultimately my relationship with others through Christ.
Learning how to socialize in big groups and thinking before acting can take you further in life rather than the other way around. The purpose of the Myers-Briggs test is to indicate your personality type by using four scales. The four scales are 1. extroversion/introversion 2.sensate/intuitive, 3. thinking/feeling 4. judging/ perceiving. According to the test, I scored higher of extroversion like than introversion. I also I scored higher in thinking rather than feeling. In other words, using my head other than my heart. Being an extrovert comes with having high energy and the love of being around large crowds. Which I can say fits my personality perfectly. Also, I think about situations in the long run before automatically acting off my immediate
After taking a Myers-Briggs assessment my mind has been changed. The very first time I took any kind of personal assessment was my second year of college. I had taken my general education classes and it was time to pick a major. The thing is, what 19 year old know what they want to do for the rest of their lives? None I tell you! So I went to an advisor and was given the test. Many seemingly random questions the results were in; you can be a doctor or lawyer or astronaut they said! The least helpful 45 minutes of my life I gave to that advisor.
Interesting, I have been labeled as an ENTJ personality type. The breakdown of an ENTJ personality type follows as such Extravert(34%), iNtuitive(59%), Thinking(28%), and Judging(53%). Jung’s test expressed part of my personality as Extraverted thinker that I have clear sense of beliefs, and they are displayed through mild arguments. Next, Introverted iNtuition determined that I have very good impromptu skills. Extraverted Sensing, completely claims that I am aware of the reality that exist. Introverted feeling has left intimate compassion on an deserted island.
Our counselors need to attend the program because this is part of their profession to work with clients and focus in depth on their unique needs. The Myers-Briggs assessment helps our clients gain self-understanding and a healthy psychological development (MBTI Training Institute, 2016). According to the MBTI Training Institute 2016, this program can enrich the work life as a counselor, career counselor, guidance counselor, therapist, or psychologist: improve the communication style in order to clarify the recommendations to clients, enhance your versatility and effectiveness with clients and coworkers, recognize individual communication preferences in order to help clients and families focus on positive steps for improvement, and resolves
It was too complicated to understand. My results came in as two personalities, ESFJ and ENFJ. According to 16 Personalities, ESFJ is known as the "The Consul." In high school, they're the football players, cheerleaders, student council members or in other words the popular crowd. Extraversion was E, which I had gotten on the Big Five test and basically stating again that I am talkative. I like to talk a lot but when it comes down to doing my school work, I am in full concentration mode. Sensing was S, basically being organized and realistic. Sensors in contrary to Intuitors are more about a day-to-day planner. At the end of the day they want to finish what has to be finished but if course being realistic. Feeling was F, the idea of making decisions based on emotion. It's all about intuition. Judgment was J, going with something and actually doing it. In previous group projects there has always been that one person that changes everything up without telling the group, I dislike this people. If we brainstormed something that we should stick with the plan rather than the flow. My second personality was ENFJ. According to 16 Personalities, “The Protagonist.” People with the ENFJ are born to be leaders, they're the politicians, coaches and teachers, reaching out and inspiring others to achieve and to do good in the world. Three out of the four traits that are in ENFJ were in my first personality type, the remaining one was Intuition. People with this trait tend to prefer speed but in-depth information. I am exactly like when doing
Hello Classmates- The results of my assessment show that my personality type is an ISFJ, Introvered, Sensing, Feeling, Judging. So as in Introverter my main souce of energy is mainly in my own internal world. As a Sensor I believe information received directly from the external world. Feeling means that, I make decisions based on emotion. And Judging means that I organize my life and stick to a plan. Characterized above all by my desire to serve others, in a "need to be needed" way. I am often unappreciated, at work, at home, and play. I also prove over and over again that I can be relied on for loyalty and high quality work, but am also take for granted. Because of this I am horrible at delegate and would rather "do it myself if I want it done right." Although I might be treated like a doormat, I am unwilling to toot my own horn about my accomplishments because I feel that I believe credit is due, its somehow wrong to want some sort of acknowledgement or any sort of reward for doing my work.
Extraverted, sensing, thinking, judging: the supervisor within the realm of personalities. As an ESTJ, I “thrive on order and continuity”(Jung). I tend to stick with the idea of tradition and seek the history. As an Extrovert, I receive energy from the people that surround me and promote work ethic. Not someone to show emotion, I gain through logical and practical terms. I find myself in situations that require thought, planning, or organization. In some cases, I do tend to stray away from the results that I was given through the personality test.
After taking on online quiz to determine my Myers-Briggs Type, I analyze how each preference fits into my professional life in a positive or challenging way. I see the world from an external context; my energy comes from external sources therefore my first preference is Extraverted. I am able to conceptualize a broad view of the world, issues and situations as well as work on multiple tasks at one time as an iNtuitive. I use implications, intuition and an internal value system to gather information which is typical of a Feeler. And finally I seek order, and structure as a Judger personality. This makes up my type as ENFJ.
After taking a personality test I was given the four letters, ESFJ, meaning Extraverted Feeling with Introverted Sensing. ESFJ’s are known as “The caregivers”, They are people persons- they generally love people. They use their sensing and judging characteristics to gather specific, detailed information about others, and turn this information into supportive judgement. The ESFJ take their responsibilities very seriously also, and are very dependable. They value security and stability, and have a strong focus on the details of life. ESFJ have many traits, strengths and weaknesses. There are numbers of potential problem areas with ESFJ’s and also ten rules to live by to achieve ESFJ success.
In this section of my leadership development plan, I am asked to examine my personality using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which was developed as a job placement tool during the 1930s and 1940s by Katherine Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs-Myers, using the theories of personality presented by Carl Jung a decade earlier (Quenk, 2009). According to the theory, each person tends to fall on one of four sides of opposing scales. The scales are Introversion (I)/Extraversion (E), Sensing (S)/Intuition (N), Thinking (T)/Feeling (F), and Judging (J)/ Perceiving (P). Therefore, it is possible to establish sixteen total permutations of four-letter combinations. After taking the assessment, my personality resulted in the permutation INTP. In this paper, I will write about each of the individual personality components of INTP and discuss the ramifications of each.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an assessment that measures someone's psychological preferences, and how we use these preferences to make a decision. Upon finishing the assessment, I have been classified as an extroverted sensing thinking judging (ESTJ). Which, to me, make perfect sense because according to www.humanmetrics.com/personality/estj, it explains that ESTJ's are joiners, outspoken, and "thrive on order and continuity". All these aspects outline how I think, how I view most subjects, and points out most of my biases. This assessment made me realize why I write in the way I do, because I write logically, objectively, and write more quickly because of it. I don't appeal to the audience and tend to brush
The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) enables an individual to gain a deeper insight into their inherent personality traits. For some people, they have had prior knowledge or underlying assumptions about their personality, but this test provides clearer information about each of their identifiable traits. According to the MBTI in Human-metric personality test, my scores were 22% (E) extroverted thinking more than introverted, 9% (N) intuitive as oppose to sensing, 16% (T) thinking more than feeling, and 12% (J) judging as compared to perceiving. Thus, my personality type is ENFJ. The ENFJ personality group is described as a minority group that consists of natural-born leaders, and people filled with passion, and charisma for example, Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey; they are notable members of this group, also known as the protagonists (16personalities, 2016). The protagonists apprehend pride in providing guidance for others to improve individually and to improve the community at large (16personalities, 2016). The protagonists find it naturally easy to communicate with others and excel at communicating with other people in person (16personalities, 2016).
