Music is a part of everyday life. Whether in a car driving somewhere with the radio on, or riding the elevator in the mall, music is constantly playing. The American music industry generated over 15 billion dollars in revenue in 2012. Of that 15 billion, Christian music was the 5th most sold music genre. Without music, the world would be very different than it is now. One of the largest forms of music a Bible college student comes into contact with is worship music. Worship music is a large part of Christianity itself. Some denominations focus a great deal on worship, making it a central part of their faith. The philosophy of worship is something that every Christian must come in contact with at some point in their walk. Worship …show more content…
It says that He thought of a man above everything else, centralizing mankind. Self-focused lyrics are a common thing in Christianity.
“The nails in your hands,
The nails in your feet,
They tell me how much you love me.
The thorns on your brow,
They show me how,
You bore so much shame to love me.”
Those are some of the lyrics to “The Nails in Your Hand” by Richard Cimino. He writes the lyrics in a way that focuses everything on the self. It is like Jesus had to prove to humanity that he loved them so he died. That is very existentialist in thought. A large part of Philosophy is a priori and a posteriori arguments. “Indescribable” by Laura Story has a very great a posteriori theme.
“Indescribable uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky,
And you know them by name,
You are amazing God,
All powerful untamable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim,
You are amazing God.”
This song speaks about how great God is because of His creation. A posteriori thought is based on what is in the physical and only proves God’s existence through real, physical

The lyrics read: “I want to sit at your feet, Drink from the cup in your hand, Lay back against you and breathe, Feel your heartbeat. This love is so deep Its more than I can stand I melt in your peace, Its overwhelming.”
This is saying that the author wants to physically worship God. They want to physically feel His heartbeat. Agape is the theological idea of the love that God has for mankind. Many songs are written about the love of God. “Jesus, Friend of Sinners” is one song that speaks of the Father’s love for man. “Oh Jesus, friend of sinners, Open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers, Let our hearts be led by mercy, Help us reach with open hearts and open doors, Oh Jesus, friend of sinners, break our heart for what breaks Yours.”
Jesus is the friend of those who are against Him. He loves them even though they hate Him. What more love could be shown than that? One of the most obvious songs about how much He loves His people is “How He Loves” by David Crowder. “Oh, how He loves, Yeah, He loves us, Oh, how He loves
Many people do not know that loving your enemy is the heart of the gospel. Although loving and praying for your enemy may seem impossible at times, it is written in the gospel of Matthew that loving your enemy is loving God. In Matthew 5:43, Jesus teaches about loving your enemy, praying for your enemy, and shows examples of loving your enemy.
The next four lines address death with symbolism and personification to establish the idea of not fearing the unknown future. In line 5, the voice talks about the life cycle

From the beginning of times, music has played an important role in everyone’s life. At first, it started with drum-based and percussion instruments made out of what was available as rocks and sticks. Our ancestors proved that human beings have an innate need of music. Nowadays, no one teaches a baby to follow the beat of a song, he just naturally lets his body get involved with the rhythm. Since the prehistoric era to Christian times, several forms of music have developed leaving a trail to new genres of music. For Christianity, hymns and plainchants were the first forms of music considered as a worship to God. As time passed by, Christian music has evolved giving way to new and fresh sounds.
For example, eternal life is being portrayed through the song. Also, the music itself is angelic tone, but likewise has a sound of despair, as if angels are having mercy on you. The music also gave a message towards the last judgment, showing that we will all stand before God to be judged for the actions we have made in our lives. Moreover, the sorrow for our sins was a spiritual message as well, showing that we are all sinners and have remorse and repent for our sins for God’s forgiveness. Furthermore, there was God’s grace and mercy being sent through the music, showing that Jesus did die on the cross for us. Therefore, God’s grace shall forgive us and guide us to reach eternal
Music is an everyday occurrence for most people. In some way, shape and form, people listen to music. For Christians, specially those at bible college, this can be in chapel day to day. For others it may be in a car or even in the workplace, which can be the case for Christians also. Music for me is an everyday occurrence, not only in chapel but also in other places such as my dorm room and when I get ready for sports.
Music has been widely popular throughout America since the nation’s creation, but ever since the 1920’s, it has become a daily part of our culture. Over the decades, new genres have been created, each as equally popular. Some examples would be jazz, blues, many kinds of rock, surf music, folk, soul, country, funk, disco, electronic, and hip-hop. Without music, today’s world would be very different. That’s why it’s safe to say that music has heavily influenced American society over the years.
I am getting an image of you fishing and you are getting so bothered as if you have been there forever but not a single fish has taken a nibble on your bait. And you just get so impatient that you started throwing rocks at your bobber. And I feel as if that just symbolizes your walk with God. You sit there and listen but you never sit there long enough, as if you stop listening right when he is about to tell you the best information you could hear. And I just feel like you have realized this and you don’t know how to fix this,” Dylan says as my heart shatters. The man whom I have managed to not talk to at all has just said the most influential thing I have ever heard in my life. He just summed up my entire walk with Christ in one metaphor about something that I don’t even do. It was to hard for me to listen to the rest of the people talking through my tears and sniffles because of the mystery man that had made me feel like God is actually listening and I don’t have to walk around just thinking but not
With its extensive history, the role of music in our lives is very unlikely to ever lose its importance. Its presence in every culture has kept music relevant for centuries and will continue to do so despite any lack of sales or interest in other forms of entertainment. Music has always existed; just because it is easier to obtain doesn’t mean it is any less valuble.
”I think . . . finding you tonight, knowing how you feel, how you’ve always felt . . . that was God’s way of telling me that He is real. He loves me no matter what I’ve done. And even when I felt most alone, He was there.”
When listening to Hildegard’s piece, my temporary state of mind becomes more serene and spiritual (Mood). The piece creates an atmosphere that helps me forget about my troubles and gives me hope. Because the song sounds like something you would hear if you were to go to church to worship, it makes me think of religion; Specifically being at church (Imagery). As I listened and closed my eyes, I could picture myself sitting in church and looking at the light that passes through the stained glass windows. Hildegard’s piece reminds me of waking up on
On page 1024, “song of myself” line 3 it says, “for every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you”. The quote above shows the unity of people. “my tongue, every atom of my blood, form’d from this soil, this air, born there of parents born here from parents the same, and their parents the same, I, now thirty-seven years old in perfect health begin, hoping to cease not till death.” This quote shows the connection between people as well as the stepping into the subject of death beautification. What I got from this quote is that he is connecting with thing, like the soil and air and that he is
Praise, Worship, Singing to God... Christian music is a way to talk to our God. It can be rap, pop, country Or just about any genre. Christian music can get you in your feels or get you pumped up. Like I believe that Christian music is the best music because it is clean, it is real, and because it brings us closer to God.
In the first verse of the song, Lennon tells us how important it is for us to live in the present moment rather than worry about what is waiting for us upon our death. Even though it is normal to worry about our death, Lennon urges us to pay more attention to the sky above us rather than heaven or hell. This is especially true for those who lose out on the present moment worrying about the future.
The role of music in society can be best imagined when one thinks of a world without music. Music serves as a personal
