Having access to the records of unrefined artistic, social, scientific and political understanding and accomplishment within the exact period supporting analysis.

Case studies, surveys, and naturalistic observations are a few research methods used by psychologists to facilitate the understanding of behavior. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages that are used in particular research scenarios. Techniques like observation or interactions between the researcher and the subject(s) such as extensive interviews to restrained experiments are what some research methods heavily rely on to be validated.

Secondary sources describe, discuss, interpret, comment upon, analyze, evaluate, summarize, and process primary source, while primary source provides direct or firsthand evidence about an event, object, person, or work of art. The organization my portfolio is based on, is extremely big with five different segments. However, since my main focus will be in the parks and resorts, I will obtain both primary and secondary resources to complete my research. Hypothesis is typically used in quantitative research only. Moreover, when a question poses an inquiry on the relationship between two variables, a hypothesis is a statement declarative in nature of the relationship between different variables (Pajares 2007). A researcher chooses whether to use a question or a hypothesis depending on the purpose of the research, its objectives, the methodology for the research and the preference of the audience to receive the research. A researcher must be able to interpret the final outcome with reference to the research questions or the hypothesis used (Pajares 2007). A research requires a minimum of two hypotheses namely a null and an alternative hypothesis.

Primary sources are used by people who have experienced specific events in their lives. They allow a reader to connect to them on a more relatable basis. Primary sources are also very reliable because the author of a book or newspaper article, for example, was actually there. So they have all the evidence they need for what is being documented. The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, is a primary source because Jurgis actually went through the hard labor conditions that occurred in the Progressive Era (1900-1916). The Jungle puts a face to the issues of grueling work hours, poor working conditions, unbearable living arrangements, exploitation of the poor, and uneducated working class. Issues of Industrial Democracy, child labor, and the minimum wage became so important to Americans during this period. This Era saw a change in some of the main reasons that controlled American individualism after the unrestrained years of the late 19th century; arguments over labor, social conflict, and unstable economy.

Primary sources are sources of information or data that are not interpreted, evaluated, or analyzed, and secondary sources are sources that only interpret, evaluate, or analyze secondary sources.

In general, primary sources are the original materials of history or the original documents and substances that were created at the time, either by a first-hand experience, picture, etc. To make the primary source, reliable and respectable, the source should be as unbiased as possible, objective, and state the facts of the time. Behind the Urals: An American Worker in Russia’s City of Steel is a book written as a firsthand account on writer John Scott’s life in Soviet Russia. First-hand accounts are generally biased to some extent but it is not hard to separate true facts and opinions. Behind the Urals is a good primary source and the author’s opinion, ideals, and beliefs are glossed over through the memoir, and his efforts to remain objective were recognized.

Secondary source: Secondary sources are usually primary sources that have been analysed, interpreted and or evaluated. Secondary sources can be primary sources but it all depends on how it is used.

Primary sources are data that has not been interpreted and are the original research performed. These sources are from the source of the information. The data given from a primary source has not been translated into information by another person. Primary sources are the source of the data given. Many books of law are primary sources. When a reader is looking for sources, primary sources are unlike secondary sources, they are the real deal, not someone’s interpretation, commentary or what they think may have happened. The journal that published this article was known as American Journal of Public Health. The “No” article is a credible source that provides valuable information.

Also, the main reason these smokeless tobacco products are so dangerous is because of the all the hazardous chemicals found inside them, such as nicotine. Nicotine is a chemical found in all tobacco products that has many health effects on the human body. The difference between cigarette users, who inhale nicotine-containing smoke into the lungs, and smokeless users is that they absorb the chemicals through their oral cavities, getting nicotine to eventually travel into their bloodstreams. (Julie 1). As a matter of fact, “users [of smokeless tobacco] generally absorb more nicotine from smokeless tobacco products than from cigarettes” (Julie 2). If more people were aware of this fact, they would definitely think twice before chewing/dipping again. When individuals buy any smokeless tobacco product on the market, they are also unknowingly purchasing the many deadly chemicals that come with it.

When studying for history, or trying to learn more facts, we may wonder what sources we should use. However, the main one that we should use are primary sources. These primary sources can be diaries, journals, pictures, newspapers, and other articles along that line. However, in school we are being taught with books that are not exactly primary sources.
