This is one of the principles of economics that can quickly affect the profit of this investment.
My husband and I relocated to this area in 2006. He had accepted a job offer in Martinsville, Virginia, which is right over the North Carolina/ Virginia line. We shopped for houses every weekend for over a year trying to find a home that had everything we needed and that allowed him to be close to his office. However, in 2008 we purchased a home in Stoneville, North Carolina, because of the prices of housing in Virginia. We used deductive reasoning in our price comparisons that enable us to determine that the Virginia housing market was not going to work out for us.

Living a good life as an immigrant in America is a big challenge. In fact, getting a reasonable life is not easy in many countries around the world, but as an immigrant in the United States that involves huge determinations. Thus, anyone who decides to move to another place or community should expect to face many challenges. Most of the time, an immigrant’s reason(s) for leaving their country is based on a hard life for some without figuring out that life in the USA might be harder as well as a better life for others who may have a good life in their motherland. Generally, they are all disappointed by what they encounter. Denis Hunt, a director of Multi-cultural Human Services, a Falls Church, Virginia-based organization that helps immigrants adjust to life in the United States, said “the issues immigrants face can be even more daunting. Most immigrant parents who arrive in new communities are faced with immediate challenges to their survival, including securing a job, finding a place to live, buying food, and enrolling their children in school" (“US immigrants face new challenges”). Despite this situation, it is conceivable for immigrants regardless their origin, to live a good life in America. However, it cannot happened merely by snapping their fingers; massive efforts are required, including working hard, learning English, resolving transportation issues, understanding of the culture, and getting educated.

I had spent about a year researching various places to move and I identified Gainesville as a great place, a conclusion also reached by Money Magazine in 1995. One of the reasons I thought Gainesville would be a good move was the low cost of housing. My first purchase was a mobile home, on a one acre lot, in a nearby city. That worked out very well. The seller's agent made a mistake at closing that saved me $2,500 on what was supposed to be a $28,000 transaction. The mortgage was five years and paid off on time. I still own the lot though the mobile home is no longer there. A couple of years later I bought my first house in Gainesville. I grew up in New York City. Half a million dollars would not buy the attached house with the postage stamp sized backyard I grew up in. I also lived in Boston in the 1980s, where $250,000 would buy a large, though very chic walk-in closet. My first house in Gainesville was on the city line and cost me $40,000 in a private, owner financed sale. It came without an A/C system but a small window unit made up for that. It sat on a 1/4 acre lot, virtually unheard of now in Boston or New York. I paid 10% down and got a 30 year mortgage at a very acceptable rate of 6.5%. Over the next couple of years I bought, and still own, three more houses in the same way. Two are on the same block as my original house and one is on the next block. In 1998 few people thought any of the houses would ever sell

I began doing research for an affordable house in Long Beach. I looked at prices and interests rates on loans in that area. I looked up houses for sale on www.realtor.com and found one I liked in Los Angeles County in Long Beach California. The house has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and is 1,120 square feet. It was built in 1972 but has been kept nice and modernized on the inside. It includes a water view, two carports, a hot tub, a BBQ, dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer, garbage disposal, an in ground pool, and a refrigerator. It also has a sewer, distract water, and a free standing gas range. The house costs $239,900.00. My affordable price range is set at $174,887.91 to $244,850.36. I found this by going to http://loan.yahoo.com/m/basics6.html. That website let me enter how much I make in a month and how much my bills are each month. Then it calculates it for you and gives you a price range.
